About

Rogue Conflict is a game that combines the tactical depth of a wargame with the unpredictability of a roguelike.
Each campaign unfolds differently — maps, units, and upgrades change with every run.
Units lost are gone forever, and if you fail a campaign you will have to start a new one.

At the beginning of each new campaign you are presented with the option to pick one of fifteen unique armies, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Throughout the campaign you will also have to opportunity to customize your army by requesting new units and assigning upgrades to them to help further specialize your army.

All the maps in Rogue Conflict are procedurally generated, ensuring that no two runs are the same.
You'll need to carefully plan your attack at the beginning of each mission and make sure you use the maps terrain features to your advantage in order to complete each combat puzzle.

The difficulty in Rogue Conflict is designed to push your tactical skills to their limit.
When advancing your troops, you will have to do so with care, as your opponent will be ready to punish you for every little misstep along the way, and the roguelike nature of the game means that all decisions are final.

Oof! This one's hard to write. It's an obvious labor of love and it's mechanically a very solid, hardcore wargame. The morale mechanic in itself is genius, every type of unit has it's use and the roguelike campaign is a fun concept. ... Problem is that some of the design decisions are at odds with each other. Attacking depletes morale and exhausts your units, and being a roguelike means that a unit lost is a unit lost forever. Missions are time limited, said time limit is quite unforgiving, you're *always* on the offensive and the enemy *always* outnumbers you. And quite seriously outguns you if you don't pick the easiest missions. ONE bad mission and you know the run is doomed, no point in continuing to play. The sume of it's parts means you're not going to win by playing the game. You're going to win by cheesing the game. If that sounds like fun to you by all means get it, if not maybe you should pass this one.
Tentatively recommending this, but with some caveats. First off: this game is hard. Really hard. The morale mechanic is central, to the point its almost all that matters. It slows things down a lot, forcing a more deliberate pace. I feel like a supply truck or two in every army would ease the pain here considerably, but the end result is hard to argue with: different types of units actually matter a lot, but without creating polarizing matchups common to many other games in the genre. It's not quite as simple as rock-paper-scissors. Still, a bad move probably means an extremely dead unit, which is a massive setback and the weight of attrition means taking anything beyond the lowest difficulty mission on offer is probably not worth it- the bonus Requisition is enough to buy one or two units, and you'll lose more than that in the process. You will likely have extremely limited vision, which will probably mean some amount of walking into disastrous ambushes. Approaching towns- the most visible landmarks through the fog of war- directly is something of a trap that will frequently result in one particularly vulnerable unit getting dogpiled by the enemies behind it, and this can put you in a position where winning is difficult or impossible very quickly, especially in your first fight. All the negatives out of the way though, there genuinely is something worthwhile here: runs are only a few missions, time limits are well-considered, things don't overstay their welcome. Balance falls short- spending requisition on in-combat repairs in particular feels too slow and expensive to ever be worth it, morale could stand to be a little less dramatic, higher difficulty fights presently border on suicidal, XP for artillery and air units feels almost superfluous and most armies feel like they need something extra starting out to smooth the difficulty curve- but there's an interesting game under all of that and when you strictly prioritize winning scenarios it all gets a little more feasible. A lot of people might not find this enjoyable in a patch or two, but on release this is interesting and feels like the best kind of lost gem from the early 90's or late 80's, with neat ideas and gameplay that doesn't overstay its welcome. If you get past the first fight of a run and perhaps develop a committed long-term relationship with supply trucks, it's probably worth your time right now. Otherwise, maybe check back after a patch or two.
Strong enemy units have been attacked again it is difficult to survive, but the downside is that the other party will also take advantage of this mechanism, and the enemy's offensive is very strong, it is very difficult to let you don't damage the unit. There are problems, of course The infantry in general is imba, both for the enemy and the player, and the huge tank disadvantage is not enough to make up for the fact that they are strong in the open (remember the morale mechanic? Yes, tanks can also be hit so many times that they lose their combat capability. Let's not forget that the tank destroyer is a special EVP unit for the player's tank) the strong infantry makes the artillery for the infantry also very strong (personal feeling that the experience of the artillery army is the best), and the overall strength of the aircraft is left on the side of the road a wild dog, the opposite air defense units are very many, do not easily send aircraft to do some mission If I had to rate the strength of the class, the player's class strength would be infantry > Artillery > tanks > Air defense > Aircraft The strength of AI's arms is the player's arms strength is infantry > tank > artillery > Air defense > aircraft (because AI has a lot of tanks, even heavy tanks such as players can not solve the unit in the early stage) 顺带一提,我们需要中文 bay the way,we need Chinese
Very tough game, a real thinker. But as soon, as you understand, how the mechanics and upgrade system works, it´s possible to beat a campaign on "easy" difficulty. I highly recommend playing this game on "easy", because it just gives you more time and ressource points. The hits in your nuts are the same as in standard.
This game is frustratingly difficult. I am not a noob when it comes to turn based strategy wargames, but this game is just damn near impossible. The enemy will have what feels like 4 to 5 times as many units as you and you are the one on the attack. If you manage to finish the first map without losing more than one unit it would be a miracle, even on the easiest mission difficulties. I had a lot of fun with them demo, i got to the 2nd map relatively easily, no losses, so something major has shifted in that time frame and I am not sure what it is but it makes the game pretty much impossible. EDIT: I have changed my review to positive and I will clarify by saying I definitely did get somewhat skill issued by the game. understanding how the AI will react is really by far the most important part of the game. The army building aspect also falls into the issue that there are definitely some units that are just the best in the game, which makes the first three armies you start with exceedingly difficult to use because they dont have any really excellent units except for the all rounder. Definitely a good game but you have to get used to the AI being suicidal in its movements just to destroy one of your units.
The game is way too unforgiving.
Fun little game for a while until you realize it's not balanced and simply too hard and frustrating, The moral mechanic tied with the time limit makes it impossible to win against the stacked AI. Once it has been better balanced or some kind of easy difficulty implemented, I will definitely give it a thumbs up. EDIT: Recommend this game now. First update included easier difficulty. I also wanted to mention that after many tries I finally got the "hang of it" at normal difficulty, although i think it is still very difficult.
Simple but quite challenging tactical game. Its fast, fun and sometimes frustrating when it throw hardball at you, So far I am enjoying it greatly.
Pretty clever wargame. Kind of hybrid between more complex conflict simulations and the arcade-like Advance Wars we all so love. Enjoyable!
