20 dollars a month to play meh songs that you don't actually want to play. Had me install, go through a tutorial, choose songs that I liked, then said "oh yeah btw it costs 20 a month to play those super fun songs you just chose! but heres some free ones" the free ones were twinkle twinkle little star, happy birthday, some random assassins creed song, and amazing grace. What an absolute kick in the nards to anyone who played RS2014. it was a 30 dollar game that came with like 100 songs, plus the dlc's. One time purchase for a ton of fun. This is just an absolute pathetic cash grab. Also the latency im getting in game using my scarlet interface is awful. I have 0 latency in RS2014 using a community made mod to let me use my interface, this game has base support for interfaces yet the latency is god awful
Dont even waste your time with this. I connect my guitar with official rocksmith+ cable. And then when their videos start playing there's no sound. Rocksmith 2014 works without issue. this is pure buggy slop, i dont understand how this umplayable thing is even on steam anymore. They as lazy to remove it from steam as they are lazy to fix anything with this nonsense?
3/10 ; Just get Rocksmith 2014

Before we begin; the obvious.
The subscription model this game has is absolutely tedious, and in no way do i feel like this game is anywhere close to being worth $20/month. If it was $10/month i would be more forgiving. HOWEVER in some very small defense to ubisoft, i also recognize how corrupt the music industry is with licensing agreements. It's better to license with studios rather than individual, but both are just STUPIDLY expensive, and goes to show how exploitative the music industry is. Does this exempt RS+ from its crime of being a subscription model? Aboslutely not.
The ACATUAL review

The GOOD
{1} The songs play well and i find this games difficulty system better than RS2014, as RS+ has more variety. {2} UI is definitely a major improvement from RS2014 {3} This game introduces Genre filter and playlists, which make finding songs MUCH more bearable {4} Esthetically this game is more pleasing, especially with UI
The BAD
{1} The 'tutorials' are really boring and not interactive; HUGE step-down from RS2014. the tutorials just aren't as interesting and repeat the same pattern. {2} The background just kind of sucks. Personally i heavily prefer the stage background RS2014 had {3} Some genres, like Country, are missing a lot of modern songs, so it generally just doesn't feel represented well, especially when Country is VERY heavy in guitars {4} UI, for as good as it looks, is also just very cluttered, especially with the Tutorials
The UGLY
{1} The Price tag this game has is just VERY not worth it. $20 is a LOT to ask for a game that frankly is just RS2014 with some features added and removed, and re-painted {2} Make no mistake, this is NOT a free game, and I'm disappointed how Ubisoft posts this game on steam. Glazing the store page, you don't realize it's a subscription model unless you really read- and frankly it's something you'd have to research because the price isn't even available on this page. {3} Essentials (Free version) provides the BARE MINIMUM, and closer akin to a demo, than a "Essentials"
Takeaway / TL;DR
To summarize; "Is this game worth it?" No. Simply put- just buy Rocksmith 2014. It's genuinely just better priced and in all honesty the only thing your sacrificing is some convince. Even if you don't want to buy the DLC's, it has a fairly active modding scene where you can get a lot of custom songs. Just go to the website "Customsforge", sign up, find songs you like, and place them in the "DLC" folder of your game. It works with ANY song made for RS2014, and it's also where you can find all your base-game and DLC song too, so its nice to have it all in one place. DLC is kinda worth it, but i'd buy the packs. Otherwise refer to above; you can put any song made for this game in the DLC folder and play it.
I had never seen **“Overwhelmingly Negative”** on Steam before. After trying Rocksmith+, I understand why it deserves it, although my problems were different from most reviews. The subscription price was not the main issue. I was willing to pay, but the app failed to contact the server repeatedly when I tried to subscribe. The UX and navigation feel clumsy and confusing. Dynamic difficulty initially removed random notes from “Happy Birthday,” which does not make a melody easier — it makes it wrong. There was also noticeable monitoring latency, even with ASIO and a good audio adapter. But the final deal-breaker was **Tab View**. Tab View is the reason I installed Rocksmith+. I dislike the 3D note highway and read normal tablature much faster. The app already detects every note and knows whether you played correctly. Yet when you use Tab View, **you get no live feedback on whether the notes were correct**. So you can have readable tablature without feedback, or feedback through the 3D interface you wanted to avoid. Rocksmith+ came very close to being “Songsterr with real-time feedback.” Somehow, they failed to connect the two features they had already built. **Overwhelmingly Negative is deserved.**
♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate this, as a guitarist, this is just a subscription based game do nto waste you money or time. litterally paying to play. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful.
seems all the issues are still there that everyone talks about there is really nothing you can do without paying at least 20 a month i feel steam is doing a disservice by saying this game is free. it should have some form of community note on it saying with in app purchases or something. waste of 30 mins in here trying it out. kept disconnecting every 30 seconds or so.
DO NOT SUBSCRIBE. It is not worth the pain and suffering. Go buy Rocksmith 2014 and download songs you actually want. Overall the money spent will be less than a $20 monthly sub and you will get 100x more enjoyment out of it. Originally, I was not going to leave a review, but since the game renewed my subscription through steam AFTER I cancelled through them, it pissed me off something fierce. If you sub and want to cancel, you have to cancel with rocksmith+ AND at the Steam subscription page. The R+ "free" library is garbage. I feel that the people picking and licensing the songs are very young or think only Billboard top 25 speaks to what was good in all genres. Some of the music is totally out there, but I am assuming that they are including music from other countries/regions just to make the library bigger - fake muscles so to speak. Its upsetting that the game went from Rocksmith 2014, an amazing product, to a subscription rip-off scheme that includes a library of maybe 15 decent songs to play. once you wear those out, the sub is worthless. STAY AWAY and DO NOT SUB!
dont buy this just get rs2014 and use cdlc, 20$ a month is insane
This is a joke, right? I just downloaded this ♥♥♥♥ and every fcking 10 seconds server lost connection ... Make this game without internet priority if you can't fix this.
Ubisoft really should be out of business for this... they should fire 100% of the people involved in making this and THEN still go out of business. I don't even care about the subscription problem with this game... I didn't even make it that far, the UI is a DUMPSTER FIRE!!!!!! I gave up when I was browsing through the songs and the game can't even keep up with previewing the songs audio, it keeps reverting back to some pointless backing track instead of previewing the song you have selected on the selection screen -- SLOWLY after about 10 seconds the tremolo rock music would fade out and the song you have selected will fade in... until you click right and want to hear the next available song, the tremolo rock music COMES BACK! As I was putting my keyboard away too angry to play anymore the selected songs audio NEVER started, it just kept playing the tremolo rock music even though I had been on "Clocks" by Coldplay for about 30 seconds. Where is this company, who made this game? I WILL find them... I just don't understand how people can get paid and make a living off of something this incompetent. Not ONE person at ubisoft tested this? Not ONE person working there realized that when you want to exit a song you shouldn't have to hit exit 3 times and then have to back out of 4 screens asking you if you're sure you want to exit and recapping the gameplay? How can this even happen?
