First I will say this. If you have the Valve Index then this game is a must have. This is one of the only games that use the finger tracking for a awesome purpose with each finger being it's own note. The songs are pretty good with the ability to edit your songs. There are 3 different guitars to choose from and you have the option for left hand or right hand. I can't wait to see what's to come in the future with this game.
has clone hero support, therefore peak
this game has a ton of potential, but needs a lot more polish and either more songs or steam workshop with better charting tools. i would recommend waiting until some updates come out before you buy it at full price. also, if you suck at the game turn on hair in settings. made me play the game better.
I bought it looking for guitar hero game, downloaded, had an issue, and the Dev came on discord during weekend to help me sort it out and even to push a fix in the future. This is where a dev should be an example to other games. Now I can finally play my guitar and check the game as it should be ! Looks promising And thank you for the quick help !
Tl;dr: Guitar/Drum Hero in VR. Pros: + Fairly intuitive if you've played any Guitar Hero or Rock Band games + Appreciated the hand notes option + Challenging but doable + Plenty of options to customize song difficulty +Support for external songs Cons: - There's supposed to be a calibration feature if you want to use finger notes but it never prompted me - No known songs included - Limited selection of original songs Closing Thoughts: Really scratched that itch to play Guitar Hero. I wish there was an official DLC for known songs because although you can find some in the wild; many of them are off sync or only available in expert difficulty. A DLC for a built in song converter would also work since it's probably a nightmare to try and get music licenses. Still, I had fun for what it is so I hope it gets more support.
Highly recommend picking up this game if you loved drumming it out in Rock Band. I love the customisable positioning on the drum placement and enjoy that you can select from different setups. The devs are still invested in the game and it shows through the updates. I am surprised this is not more popular, especially with the community support in expanding your library (into the 1000s) with similar classic games from years past. Plus it has LIV support which is even more fun! I only wish I could find a button mashing guitar so I can relive my guitar hero days!
Functional. That's the bare bones of it, it works as intended. Playing in the fingers with the Index controls works fine, though tracking sometimes goes astray which seems to get fixed by turning the controller off and on again. If you wanted something to exploit the finger tracking of those controls then Rocking Hero is 90% there with what it wants to do. The ability to log in customs was super simple, the game auto loads in on boot whatever you've dropped in the custom folder. Needs a ton of work on the main play screen though as of writing. A lack of atmosphere kind of kills it, along with your connection to the process. The game would and should be a lot more gratifying when your nailing it, something that maybe should have been a focus on before it launched as it's kind of a standard with these games. Little bit harsh perhaps because all the effort has clearly been focused on as much functionality as possible. I can't speak to the other integrations, but the Index controllers work out once that muscle memory kicks in, even for a complete novice like myself. It's a borderline recommend.
As someone who both doesn’t have the room for a drum kit, and is learning percussion, this is a fantastic tool to use! I highly recommend using a drum throne or low-seated stool to play though, both for sense of realism and so you aren’t bashing your arms against your computer chair armrests or backrest. Overall, I’ve briefly tried out the guitar portion of the game, but I enjoy the drums so much more. I could definitely see using a physical guitar controller with this game being a blast! My suggestions to the developer: -Allow the music editor to be used for Drums. I’d bet there are a lot of guys that just want to create a freestyle track or even a beat track for their favourite songs that they can practice to. -Offer support for physical drum controllers. Not just the RB/GH kits either, if it could support digital drum kits I’d probably buy a compact set to play along with! Also, a small bug I’ve noticed, when you play a Drum song in Campaign that has “Errors Allowed”, it sometimes reappears when you try to play the song in Free Play afterwards. All in all, I’d say if you can afford it, and are like me wanting to learn to play but lack the space for a proper kit, definitely get this game!
Хоть где-то я попадаю в бочку
I really want to like this but unfortunately it's too inconsistent to be good. My two main gripes are: -The plectrum/pick is way too inconsistent. I've been playing guitar for over 10 years but I had to change the way I use my pick because it just wouldn't register 20 percent of the time. It would also just go out of my hand if I moved my hand too far away from the guitar, which was very annoying. -The index's finger tracking just isn't good enough for the highest difficulty settings. Even if you do master it, it's very unnatural and feels very off in my opinion.
