Far beyond the reaches of the Milky Way, a great darkness is looming. A clandestine force using powerful social manipulation techniques is controlling the resources of star systems throughout the universe. Their only existential threat appears to be a rock band from the planet Earth.

The word "Pilot" might be doing an awful lot of work here in acting as a proof of concept or testing ground for some ideas that will be refined upon full release. But if this is a true representation of things to come, then I think I'll pass, thanks. Bearing an uncanny resemblance to Radical Heroes: Crimson City Crisis (to the point that I actually thought this was by the same people at first glance), this draws inspiration from many retro classics. There's flavours of landmark NES games like Mario, Kirby and Earthbound, even just within the three sections contained in this glorified demo. So an old-school platformer with a 2.5D twist is what you're getting here. It opens with a curiously quirky cutscene about an indie boyband trying out a new form of publicity and finding themselves needing to head out to the city upon its immediate success (whilst also seemingly being monitored by outside, alien forces to some unknown ends). The brief but fun introduction leaves much to the imagination, but it's not long before you get into the meat of the game, and also where it soon presents its flaws. In short - the platforming is poopy and the camera angles are bad. The mix of pixel-perfect precision jumping coupled with 2D sprites hopping around often cramped 3D environments, and hampered by a side-on camera constantly switching to a skewed angle, all combine to an incredibly tricky, frustrating experience. Having 2D enemies move into the fore or background, or moving from side to side while the camera contributes with an almost diagonal view, just makes things gratingly awkward and largely a matter of either patience or blunt trial and error to navigate. Perhaps in the final product they'll go a little easier on the player and the layout of stages and positioning of enemies will be more forgiving. But for what's on show right here and now, despite the appealing aesthetic on offer, it's more frustration than fun, and feels closer to a relic of its inspirations than a modern masterpiece in the making.

The game is loads of fun but the ladders in the cave has bugs that cause you to die of the ladder just wont take you to the next area. When you get around the ladders its loads of fun and its a very unique platformer.
I dont know what or who Rocketboat are, but this game is one you wont miss out on anything if you skip it. Its.. okay, its a throwback to old NES games in this weird and odd looking 3D mix spectrum. The story.. is there i guess to get you going, i remember seeing screen shots when this game was first announced and it looked so cool and i couldnt wait to play it! But turns out.. it was some kind if troll i guess. I dont know if this is fan service or something but i wasent to pleased. The first stage of the game is very hard! Very hard! You will die and probably get a few game overs. The reason it might be so hard, is... its the only stage in the GAME! It then ends with an Okay boss fight, after that you get some text saying they saved the world and there.. This game is not really much a game and proabably just promotion for whoever the hell rocketboat is. Skip this one, youre not missing out on much.
