Good Game
This is a surprisingly interesting little game. Your first playthrough might take around 1.5 - 2 hours to complete. I played through it 4 times to get all of the achievements though I probably could have done it in 2. This game has an uncomfortably awkward charm to it. I like how simple the game is and its Resident Evil inspired approach to level design and puzzle implementation. I enjoyed the game enough for what it is - a very low budget experience with a lack of polish. This game could definitely use some polish though. Everything from the models to the animations to the in-game UI felt placeholder/unfinished. There is a sparking wire in a hallway that can be heard from ANYWHERE in the map, even when loaded into a part of the map separate from that hallway. And there's no background music so all you hear is the sparks. The sound plays during cut scenes, during dialogue, when in menus... it's kind of annoying. There is a portion of the game that can only be gotten through by talking to the "AI Assistant". You can't click through or skip the AI's dialogue which goes by sooooo slow. If there was a way to complete the objective without the long scripted conversation(s) or if the player had the ability to skip voice lines it would greatly improve the replay-ability of the game and might even make it fun to speed run. The complete lack of music during normal game play really kills any atmosphere that may have been established. Just like some "bleep bloop" sounds or a low hum from all the machinery would help greatly. As it stands, Roborne is a little gem that could be AWESOME if Nightskull put more work into it - but I imagine this is considered complete and that Nightskull have probably moved on to a new project. At least I hope they do. I want to see what they do next.
