This adventure is fun as it was for 30 years ago. The modern rendering makes it much more enjoyable.
a game that, after 30 years of dev, cannot remember whether you flipped a switch or opened a door. it breaks immersion in a completely beautiful and incredible game to the point where you wonder "what the ♥♥♥♥ am I doing here?" edited to a positive. it's beautiful and the puzzles are perfect, but add some boolean vars ffs.

It's a worthy remake of the original. A lot easier than Obduction.
Riven ist einfach gut. Das Original mag ich zwar mehr weil es die Originalen Darsteller enthält und Tonspuren, aber das Remake ist auf seine Art auch super und in VR ein schönes Erlebnis!
Sublime. One of the best remakes ever, for one of the best puzzle games of all time. Unlike the many Myst remakes & remasters, Cyan actually succeeded with this one, both staying faithful to the atmosphere & presentation of the original while also updating the graphics & gameplay to the modern era. They also changed the puzzle mechanics just enough to provide a fresh experience for returning players, but not so much that it feels hugely different from the spirit of the original. They're also just a tiny bit easier, which is a good thing since some of the old ones were incredibly difficult to solve without a hint or two.
It's Riven but with new elements
What a beautiful and thoughtful rendition! This new Riven honors the original while adding enough new flavor to keep an old veteran on the edge of my seat, all while staying authentic to the classic. Amazing! If you're a fan of the 1997 Riven then you owe it to yourself to experience this one. And if you're a new player then congratulations, you're in for an adventure. I highly recommend Riven. Thank you Cyan!
Even though there are a few elements of the original that I miss (being a sound-person and not a color-person, vision impaired and all), I do love this remake. You do NOT need to have played the original to enjoy it, it is lovely all on its own. If you HAVE played the original, don't think for a moment that you have it all sewn up and can speedrun it first time through. It's different enough that it is its own game. You will need your exploration and puzzle solving skills here as much as in the original.
