Ringo's Roundup may look simple but it is fiendishly difficult sometimes.
Ringo's Roundup is a grid based puzzle game where you place tiles to direct your car so that it collects all of the envelopes and then crosses the finishing line. At the start of each level you are given a set of tiles that you can place on the grid. In earlier levels they are just simple directional arrows, but later more advanced tiles are added like jump or teleport, and then the terrain starts to play a factor with tiles that contain magnets, tiles that disintegrate, and even tiles that switch positions etc. New elements like these are introduced periodically as you progress and difficulty levels start to rise. The game can be very challenging, especially considering that there are two routes to take in the form of a short route and a long route. The short route is the least number of moves you can complete the level in, which is stated before you start, and the long route is the most moves you can make. The short route is a lot easier to work out than the long route and even at earlier stages in the game I was having trouble working out how to complete the long route with the amount of moves it was asking. I was always one step under! The grids are very tight and the addition of objects just complicate things. Sometimes, to achieve the number of steps needed you have to unnaturally repeat moves if you can, or go backwards before you go forwards, just to gain that extra step. These are examples of how you need to think to succeed, and I am sure they have created this game just to mess with my head. There is a lot of trial and error in the game to try and fathom how to complete levels. If you do get stuck, which will be quite common, there are a set number of hints for each level which will place a correct tile on the grid. Occasionally, this sets you on the right path, and other times it makes you more confused, but that is the genius of the game. It's also worth noting that there are more than one way to complete the level, so a hint may place a tile in the path of another solution and not the one you were thinking of, so that is why sometimes it can be confusing. I doubt there are that many different ways to complete a level though because the grids are quite small. It is nice that levels are not timed so you can sit back and study the grid and think about things without feeling stressed, and there is no penalty for trying things out and seeing what happens, and this is the best approach to the game. There was many occasions when I just could not work out the solution though. By completing routes, you earn stars which you can spend in the garage to change the colour and design of your car. The game feels quite cute and colourful with nicely animated tiles and movements and has a jaunty tune playing in the background. It all feels quite upbeat and jolly. By completing the requirements for levels, which can sometimes mean completing the harder long route, you are awarded a golden stamp which you need to unlock the next world. There are ten worlds in total and plenty of content to keep you busy.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Ringo's Roundup is a challenging pathfinding puzzle game with lots of charm, colour, and ingenious puzzles that will have you repeating levels and scratching your head to complete. There are so many different things affecting your car that there is a lot to think about and it becomes difficult very quickly. The game feels very professionally done with a cute aesthetic and upbeat vibes. If you are looking for a decent challenge then give it a go. A first look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEdUK6ZSkWU Oh my goodness, this is an adorable and charming path-finding puzzle game! The game puts you in the driver’s seat of Postbunny Ringo’s mail delivery car. With over 100 handcrafted levels across ten diverse worlds, it offers a cosy and colourful experience that blends simple mechanics with surprising depth. Some levels made my brain work, and I must admit, reflecting on it, I was surprised I didn’t always grasp the solution immediately. Thankfully, there is a hint button, which is quite helpful! But even then, it proves to be very challenging sometimes. The Effect Tiles—like jumps and teleports—introduce clever twists to navigating obstacles, a lovely touch that ensures the game doesn’t become too bland or repetitive. Being three, almost four worlds in, I’m curious if there are other twists! I’m pleased to edit my review since some changes have been made positively. I managed to find out how the long route works. In the level select, you must hit the number of tiles listed behind the route and not use up all the direction and unique tiles as I first thought. My bad! If you manage to solve all the bonus routes along with the main goal, you get your golden stamp—hooray! They’ve also added a working menu button in the levels when you press your ESC button. What makes it even better is that there is a reset tiles button, which I longed for, too. This is absolutely brilliant and super handy! I am also starting to think the back button on the overall world select intentionally sends you back into the level, with all your tiles still there, to work out the other route or when you have a few steps too much or too little, which in the end does seem to be super handy. But I still want to see a back-to-menu button on the world-level select page just because it would save me time from having to go into a level and press select. But all in all, those are super positive and pleasing changes. Yet, I’m going to be that bum bums again that will nitpick juuuuust a little bit: as far as I’m aware, the hint button only works for one route, but hear me out. What if we can choose which route? Some of these long routes are really hard to find for me. Spring 5, along with a few others, are really kicking my bum bums at the moment o_o And maybe a counter on the screen showing how many tiles you hit last time with your current route because my flee brain will forget two seconds after I see it and go back to the level menu. I absolutely hate when I ask a hint, with only a few to have, that it places on the one tile I had correctly. Like please no, I really, really needed you. Why you do this to me! Additionally, I would have loved to have an option to see the routes listed in the level on screen rather than pressing escape every time, but eh, at least it's listed there, so I’ll take it! I just thought throwing the idea out there wasn't bad because I’m a really cosy, lazy, casual gamer. I’ve also noticed a potential bug with the achievements. One called ‘Get All Car Colours’ unlocked after I obtained my second car colour, which seems unusual. It might be a minor glitch worth investigating. The Red Deer games, whether self-created or published for a developer, are often charming and enjoyable yet tend to have minor imperfections. I’ve mentioned it before: Come on, Red Deer! I believe in you—I know you’ve got the potential. Your games are solid, but I’d love to see you stretch just a bit further and elevate them from good to genuinely dazzling. Overall, it's a charming and enjoyable game, and I give it a borderline thumbs up. However, I’ll be waiting for one or a few updates before diving back in to savour it more than I have so far. And I want to return to the garage; I’m keen to collect those colours! I am curious about which other ones are still out there, as I haven’t yet found a favourite one. Finding the correct path VS a sneak peek into a few colours. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3443787729 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3443787534
I would be super grateful if you could consider giving a follow over at the following places for more first looks, reviews, recommendations, etc:

| My first looks | ~My YouTube channel.
If you're familiar with games like Locomotion and Pipe-mania and have a love of puzzle games then read on! Direct Ringo the post bunny to their destination, while collecting all of the mail. The game starts off with some simple tutorial levels, teaching you about placing the arrows, rotating your vehicle and explaining the rules about not flying off the edge! Essentially, you have a grid and a limited set of arrows, place them down on the tiles to direct Ringo, when you're ready hit go and your vehicle will set off in the direction its facing, place the arrows correctly and Ringo will end up at the destination, make a mistake and you go flying off into the void! I tried the game with both game-pad and mouse and found the mouse a little easier to just click and place the arrows but either method works well. Each world has its own environment like deserts, ice etc, and some have jumps, portals and all sorts of extras you have to take into account when placing the arrows and planning your route! Each level has a requirement of letters to collect and extra badges are awarded for completing them in a set amount of moves, with these badges you can buy extra designs and colours for Ringo's van. After completing all of the levels there is a final challenge, this requires you to move over each cracked tile, and then jump into the exit, you need to complete these challenge levels in order to unlock the next world. After completing the first world the game`s difficulty increases and you may find yourself scratching your head on later levels, the game certainly doesn't get any easier! The game is always a lot of fun and I found it extremely relaxing, it definitely has that "oh just one more level" appeal. Graphics are bright and colourful and has that "cozy" charm about it, sound is minimal but does the job and there is some background music. The asking price of £8.50 is reasonable and there are lost of levels to play and extras to unlock. I highly recommend Ringo`s Roundup to any fan of cozy puzzle games, especially those of you who remember and loved games like Pipe-mania and locomotion. It always hurts a little inside when I see great games with few reviews, so I have to take a moment to appreciate this one. Ringo is our mailman, driving around in his cute little car in this re-skin of "get all the items and get to the exit" - but instead we're picking up all the envelopes and depositing them in the mailbox. You don't control the car directly - rather, you place tiles that have various effects like turning, jumping and warping - click Go and watch the action unfold. There is no time limit and no limit on the number of tries. The game has a playful cute art style and is remarkably polished for a small indie title, yet despite the tiny map size of each of the 100 levels spread over 5 biomes, many of the puzzles are deceptively difficult, the last dozen outrageously so; the difficulty curve is fair though. Additional rewards for finding the shortest and longest routes for each map add significant replay value. Cons: playing with controller is awkward due to the isometric layout of the maps, the music is really repetitive, one of the mechanics (the wormhole) is quite off-putting and Ringo certainly won't win any awards for innovation - but it doesn't really matter - if you like puzzlers, this is engaging and fun. PS. I tip my hat to the Steam reviewer who said they beat the game in two hours - you are a literal genius.
Nice little puzzle game! It might not be the hardest puzzle game out there, but it's no walk in the park either. It's fun and cute, and the added challenge of trying to find the longest route is interesting (and probably more challenging than finding the shortest one). The music is nice and fits the game well. There's no narrative to speak of, but that's not a problem in a puzzle game. Also, you gotta love a game with a bunny protagonist. i do think there's room for improvement. There could be keys to place down pieces instead of having to drag each one in; it makes it feel too much like a phone game. There could also be a level editor (unless I missed it) to make puzzles or check interactions.
Good game.
Nintendo level cute looks, well crafted puzzles and a good balance of chill and challenge! In addition to simply collecting all the letters and reaching he goal (you know, solving the puzzle), the levels also have these optional(!) short and long route challenges. To beat these, you have to optimize your route (simple enough), and suboptimize it (pretty damn challenging)! Suboptimizing the route really puts your pathfinding skills to the test. I often catch myself wondering how the developers managed to come up with some of the solutions. It's impressive, really. The game might look like it's for children, but it's not for the faint of brain 🤙 PS: Works great with touch on the Steamdeck.
Ringo is a career professional and we all should strive to be more like them! In all seriousness, extremely adorable and the addition of both shortest and longest routes add surprising depth to the puzzles. The devs were amazing to watch stream during their next fest and well worth checking out their project.
Very cute little puzzle game with some truly difficult challenges towards the end. Made by a small team with a Nintendo 3DS eshop game art style (i.e. the mii games, Pushmo, Rusty's Baseball, and Badge Arcade), I admire the amount of content you get for a pretty cheap price. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a good puzzle game! 8/10, I didn't like the wormhole mechanic, and I beat it in 2 hours.
