Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my gameplay & initial impressions here: https://youtu.be/l2PJgwUb_gI I had fun playing this game. It's basically a budget-priced arena shooter / bullet hell with Gorilla Tag style movement with grappling hooks or shotguns. You swing around the arena avoiding dangers & trying to kill the enemies with style. You also have a slow-time ability to help you out. The bad news is that there seems to be only one basic arena. The map is basically a church that's pretty basic. It's just a square area with window dressing really. There are a few different enemy types, but there doesn't seem to be enough variety of enemies. There are some environmental dangers as well. You only have the grappling hook / shotgun which you can switch easily. Per the store page, there are currently only 11 levels. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps. The only options are for sound / music. You have the Gorilla Tag style movement, basically you move by hitting your hands across the floor, but you can also grapple hook around the map and even your shotgun will move you back. You can bounce off enemies to get more air. You do have to pretty much play this game standing as you'll need to turn IRL. There's actually smooth turning available, but you have to press down on the joystick and it will get you killed because not only is it too cumbersome to use, but it'll change your grappling hook / shotgun often by accident. This game shows that a vr moment shooter with gorilla tag movement could be really fun but the big word there is could be. Shotgun range is horrible especially since your making me fight flying enemies, the gun dosen't feel like it has any weight and enemies just kinda fall over and die. One boring ass arena with under a dozen preset waves. There's a score thats only shown to the player on the floor in front of the wave options and doesn't do anything but unlock the pistol once. This game isn't worth seven bucks its something I'd find on itch.io for free. It could be really good with more time in the oven and some actual levels but right now it ain't worth it.
Rilla Shotgun is a paid VR shooter game with gorillia movement and grappling guns. It worked on my Index, HTC Vive and Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. You have roomscale movement only, with gorillia movement, grappling guns and can use your shotgun to move yourself. Can be challenging. Has instructions and test range in the lobby. Maybe buy this game, if you like shooter games. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. ViVE VR curator group
shotgun range is atrocious but still fun
Its a great concept, and a good game. The only downside is that the shotgun feels inconsistent and weak.
best fun i've had in a vr shooter since the ultrakill vr mod this is like immense yet simple i can't wait to see what more is done with this its cool to see a movement shooter fully unique to what vr can do
The game is great, can't wait to see what this will eventually become. *Pls add stick turning*
Needs to rework its guns, the shotgun feels like a wet fart machine due to it's inability to pierce through groups of small enemies and ~3 foot range.
Ever since I had discovered the demo for this game I was very excited to see that there was a release date. I played it for roughly 25 minutes and I have beaten the game. I love it, there isn't much more to say other than if you want to have more fun with this game, get creative, bounce off walls just to punch an enemy than hook into their downed body and blast'em before they can get up. I would like to see more of the walking mechanics used here in other games, instead of using static movement (like gorilla tag) it uses springy movement and that is probably the wrong term. but this game is worth the money if you want to just kill something while being a gorilla.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this good
