I tried it with a few people, but it's only somewhat entertaining and funny. The "Write a Riff" mode uses text-to-speech which has relatively flat tone. Some clips and choices on "Pick a Riff" are probably much more funny if you're familiar with Western culture in specific decades. It's not my cup of tea, but there's no strong reason not to recommend it either, when it's also rather cheap.
A complete rip off from "what the dub" except its not funny at all. My group literally cut our play session in half because nobody was laughing. The clips are awful. And why would you change the voices for the bot so that everyone knows who the bot is? Terribly thought out. They took a great game and somehow made it terrible

The Gist: You watch movie clips of dubious quality and write or pick a riff of suitable comedic value. The Good - The array of movie clips is astonishing. - There's lots of options to customize your game room to your liking. - There's even sound effects to enhance your riffs. - If one player earns an achievement, you'll earn it too! Though that's probably a glitch. The Bad - Nothing, really. The game does what it set out to do pretty much perfectly, if nothing more. Pro Tip: To actually write or pick riffs for clips, you need to use a separate browser window to open rifftrax.games , where you'll type in your room number and nickname, then you're set!
Fun, funny, & simple. What you see is what you get. Pick from a sampling of soundbites, or write your own riff to be read (poorly) by text-to-speech! Caveat Emptor -- all you can do with the base client is spectate other lobbies/matches. If you want to host your own session or interact (aka: play) it requires a 3rd party site.
This is a fun game. I like making jokes. I just don't like other people making jokes. And then I have to vote. Gosh.
Tons of fun if you have some friends with a sense of humor as warped as your own. Ever watch MST3K or watch movies with friends and provide your own snarky commentary track? This game is for you. It has easily become my favorite party game.
Great for everyone, whether they've heard of Rifftrax or not. It's cheap in price, but the quality is great, just make sure your internet connection is strong if you're broadcasting it.
For our first play session, my family binged this for over three hours. We really appreciated the options to customize our game, including extending the timer so everyone had time to get their captions submitted. Strong recommendation for a variety of ages.
Generally I'm pretty forgiving towards this type of game, but this one is terrible. It may be worse than a D-tier Jackbox Party Pack game. It's essentially a worse version of What the Dub?, which has the same developers, and I generally recommend over this. Conceptually, making a amusing dub over a lame quip (which is what you do in this one) regarding a clip results in far funnier responses, especially with the god-awful text to speech. Maybe if you and your friends are diehard MST3000 or Rifftrax fans you may get some mileage out of it. Skip this and buy What the Dub?, or better yet a Jackbox Party Pack, you will have a much better time. Also I did not play 40hrs of this game wtf
