Fantastic visuals, rich music, complex puzzles, and uniquely, a basis (somewhat) on reality (the 3D rendering of the pyramid is accurate), This game is at least as good as Myst, and in my opinion, far superior to it. I would recommend it to everyone! However, the puzzles can be difficult to solve, so having hints available may be helpful to those who have less time to spend on them. A lot of fun!
Overall this is a good game. +ve: Nice graphics, good plot, challenging puzzles. The game keeps you riveted and constantly thinking. -ve: Point and click is a little old, 3-D interactive would be better. Would not bother buying the extras. P.S. My time played may not be correct as I often left the game running and did other things...

clunky controls. Got to driving robot , but no way to hit the aux switch at the same time as teh forward to get over the second hump. Gave up. Pity had promise. Let down by controls.
Riddle of the Sphinx is an ideal game for anyone who enjoys seriously challenging puzzles a la Myst. I fell in love with it when it was first published years ago and I was so happy to see that it had been reworked for 64-bit. The music is atmospheric and the graphics are amazing. Thank you for bringing this wonderful classic back!
This is the game your mom's pastor would try and recommend to you to keep you away from adventure games that hethens played like Myst and Return to Zork. You rolled your eyes then but it actually wasn't that bad... you remember it fondly. Years later you arbitrarily choose to review the remaster to earn a Steam badge and to remind the kids that games back in your day didn't need to explain ♥♥♥♥ to you and that bad design was part of the challenge "And we liked it that way."
Won't load, just get a black screen and too late to return. it's a boat anchor!
Recommend this remake for both new players and fans of the original game. Mostly faithfully recreated, with a small number of changes, both to item locations and puzzles, with a couple of original puzzles added. If you've played the original, then you'll know how to beat this game pretty easily, with only the changes possibly throwing you off. If you are a new player then this is a great game to explore and solve, even if it takes a little while. And of course, take exhaustive notes.
This game should be recommended for anyone who likes Myst. I did not expect the game to be so much like a Myst game. I love Myst games, but when I watched the trailer or played the first hour of the game I did not have the impression that the game was anything like Myst. Still, after continuing to play and getting deeper into the pyramid the game started to act and feel more like a Myst game. The game has hidden passages, hidden switches, strange devices to operate, rotating pillars, rotating corridors, telescopes and a labyrinth. The puzzles were fun to solve. You don’t need to be a fan of Myst to like this game. The puzzles were not hard to solve but still it takes a long time to finish the game because navigating through the environments is a slow process. It is easy to overlook something.
I've played ROTS back in the day, at least 2 times and has always been one of favourite adventure games and right on the top of my, let's say, Myst Clone list, along with the Rhem series. This version, doesn't add too much, but the visual enhancements are enough for me to bring this classic more to the present day standards. While a huge fan of 2d pre-rendered scenes, I still would maybe prefer a 3d remake of ROTS as this would make this version more interesting for us old players. But still, I really enjoyed revisiting this game and my pyramids-related excitement heated up again, thus I consider this a bonus for ROTS. While not without a few shortcoming (I've encountered a couple of bugs for instance and at least a couple of puzzles I can think of, I almost solved them by chance), ROTS The Awakening is a must play not only for fans of the genre, but wannabe fans as well.
