The concept is nice and I love the visuals, but as is the case with games that auto-generate charts, is that it usually winds up making little sense with the songs. There's no flow to get into like that. The judgment could also do with a little more leniency, as of now it seems it's either a hit or miss. No in between, where you still hit the note but you just get a slightly late/early and/or late/early. This would make the game more pleasurable to play, since you'd still hit notes, but your score would still be lower since accuracy is lower. An accuracy based judgement and scoring would do this game well imo. Also, there is no streaming feature unfortunately. I hope these things will improve in the future. I love indie projects like this, so I'll keep the game and check out its progress, but until it gets better, I cannot recommend it as is. Update (also in comments): I was glad to see the updates being made to this game. However.... when I tried to play it again to check them out, the game just doesn't work at all any longer. I load up a song and the track opens but there are no notes coming in, nor any music playing. I also cannot exit out of the game at that point. I've to force close it. I've posted about this on the forums over a week ago, and have unfortunately not heard anything yet. Update: Developer responded to me in the discussion thread I'd made and and was very kind and tried to help me out. The issue is resolved! 10/10 dev.
Unfortunately this game doesn't work with most MP3s, and needs to be improved. More features should have been added before launch.
not bad. works with any mp3s
If you manage to allow custom charts this game will be so good,i mean, with these events it have but more synced it will look cool
the notes to the music don't make sense it feels completely random and there are way too many doubles the judgement line is too harsh you can't adjust the speed of play it's always at 1x when i want to play at 3x the option isn't there also there are no fast parts when the song goes really fast the notes stay at a snails pace with singles and doubles with no trills or even mixing it up and for expert i was expecting 6 buttons at least but it stays at a basic 4 button this game doesn't appeal to a expert rhythm gamer at all but more for beginners and those that want to play at a slow pace. it's not a bad game it does have potential but for now i'm uninstalling and requesting a refund maybe in a few years i'll come back and see if the game has been updated to my standards of gameplay but for now i'm sticking with audiosurf
I've tried several songs from different genres, like rock, techno or classic, and I can say beat detection is subpar. I've seen better in games that are ten years older than this.
nice game concept but it crashes randomly. 10/10 would crash again
So obviously I didn't expect anything at all. It is worse than expectations. You can upload any MP3 file but the notes are at complete ad lib. They don't match up with the music in *any* capacity on like 4-5 different songs I tried. I got this for 76 cents, do *not* buy this ♥♥♥♥ at full price lmao
wow this game plays like ♥♥♥♥ looks like ♥♥♥♥ its so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clunky you can only upload one song at once everything about this is so ♥♥♥♥ 10/10 has a lot of potential
Like many others I used to play a lot of Guitar Hero when it was at its peak and it was even my primary game at one point. So I know what I want and what I expect when I play games like these. All I really expect is smooth note registration and good note layouts that fit the song you play, but this game unfortunately fails on both of those. When I played I fed this game some tracks which I consider easy to handle, I chose some less complicated synthwave and a less complicated song by Rush, to test this on and the notes were of course all over the place. I already knew before I started playing that the autogenerated note layouts would suck. I have never seen auto generated songs that actually played well or even get close to what it should be like for the given song, but this game failed harder on this than I expected. It feels like it was designed to have a multitude of different small segments of note structures that it randomly inserts in certain parts of the songs, probably depending on something related to the wave in the track or something, idk, just guessing. And in between these segments it just randomly fills in filler notes to make it seem like it's connected. The game also comes with difficulties, just like Guitar Hero, and it actually seems to work alright. From the bit I played, it seems to scale pretty well. The game natively supports both keyboard and controllers and rebinding was pretty easy, that part seemed to work flawlessly at least. I'll end this review off by getting this off my chest. It is really annoying that you can't pause, restart or exit a track once started, you need to actually let it play out until you fail in order to do that, it got me a little mad ngl. It is possible that I just don't know what key it is that restarts the track, but it isn't Esc.
