If you've ever wanted to learn how to freestyle rap, buy Rhyme Storm right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izJdCRp1Kyk If you want to watch me embarrass myself playing Rhyme Storm, watch my video above. If you've never freestyled before and need to learn how, choose Freeflow Mode to get used to rapping a rhyme within the beat. Stick to the semi-randomly generated lyrics, add to them, embellish them, and learn the art of improvising. Once you're ready, or if you want a challenge, go into Off the Dome Mode where you're simply given the rhyme for each line. Sure, you'll make a fool of yourself, but you'll pick up the skills a lot quicker than you'd think. Topics provide an extra challenge (as well as providing the pre-generated lyrics and rhymes), as do the Lyrics Style in Freeflow. If you like the biblical, Shakespeare, or poetic styles of some rapping, you'll have fun here trying to live up to your not-so-guilty style pleasures. Sometimes a game just hits the mark. Rhyme Storm is already worth the money, but being Early Access means it's only going to get better. If you need more incentive to pick it up, I leave you with my rap: Why don't you just buy this game and put those other fools to shame They'll have nothing on you soon You'll retire in Cancun So train yourself like a wordsmith For the developer make it rain Hurry up do it forthwith Think what fame you will obtain
Every other day a star is born They just need practice rappin' with Rhyme Storm Even white guys like me can rap after a while And the random lyrics will make you smile With lots of loops and beats to choose from You can play a while and still aren't done The Tempest AI is pretty entertaining With tons of raps to choose from I'm not complaining So stop wastin' time and boot up the game And before ya know it you'll be risin' to fame (If you want to watch me attempting to rhyme a few songs in this game, please check out my YT video https://youtu.be/urqdMJZuSOI )
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good for English speakers (not even) DREADFUL for the rest of the world. Only available in English, it has no options, sometimes it takes your words and sometimes not, obviously, my English if you have to rate it is a 2 ... But in this case if it would be nice if valve hides the games that are dedicated to a specific group of people ... in this case, people who speak in English. I give it negative for the simple fact that nowhere does it say that you have to speak yes or yes English ...
This game is easy to play but hard to master. Me and my buddy (theskinnymenace) always have a blast playing. It also activates the rhyme center in my brain and i found myself crafting my own raps in my head just for fun. The prompts and subject matter are always hilarious.
Идея - класс. 1.
This was a lot of fun, incredibly stupid but fun. https://youtu.be/lTkQDQnISxI
Ok, so I am not the target for this type of game. At least I don't think I am. I got this for a friend and he is much better and more interested in this genre of game than I am but it is fun to interact and cheer him on with my other friends as he plays. Sure, I'd give it a go and did kinda ok and that's that. Then I got thinking, why shouldn't I play this game? Sure it's not in my comfort zone but it IS fun...? What is this game really about? Great question. From the description, it seems pretty straight forward. But you get into it and oh boy something so simple can be so complex at the same time. Hard to describe but there's a lot going on with game. The basic premise is that you rap (spoken word and hell even singing to lesser extent) to either auto-generated or totally freestyle lyrics depending on game mode. I play the auto-generated stuff. You can choose from a game difficulty, beat-line (tons of styles and rhythms), some game-play changes for scoring, and the content of the lyrics you are going to be dropping. Have you ever wanted to rap about Keanu Reeves, shooting hoops on a pirate ship, or maybe Cowboys VS. Aliens rap battle? Well now you can. I'm only scratching the surface here but the lyrical topics ALONE are extremely inclusive and there is just so much to choose from - funny, intelligent, artsy, straight dope - it goes on and on. There is a short tutorial to get you into it and it's not hard to figure out. you rap the lyrics to the beat while the game detects what you are saying and awards points based on how you hit the beat, etc. Basically it's checking how good your flows are. And it actually works. Really, really good in fact. The game understands spoken word and is scary accurate. I did a vampire rap so OF COURSE I'm going to rap sounding like Dracula (got big laughs for that btw) and it had no problem picking up my words. Even the "BLAH" I'd throw in occasionally. You get a real-time grade and some other visual cues on screen as you're gaming. The interface is visually pleasing and polished so it's easy to play and doesn't feel like you're just reading words on a screen. And this is where magic happens. You get into it, you feel the beat, feel your groove and you go. You get a feeling like you really are performing on stage, it's actually kinda freaky how cool it feels. This is what I'm talking about it being a deep game. Simple concept but it is an emotional experience. Sounds corny, it's not.
I love this game and I love playing on stream, but there are still some heavy bugs that need to be worked out. Most of all, due to the bugs (and just for fun) I want there to be a "no fail" option like in Rock band. This would make the game more playable and fun. There is an issue where the entire game screen just mysteriously disappears. I've tried both windowed and full screen, this does not fix the problem. I'm confident nothing was clicked to cause this. The music will still play, but you can't the lyrics while this is happening. Even if you've kept up a free flow, when the screen returns the game will instantly fail you. This is not fun. There's also an issue with the timing of when you're supposed to be speaking the words. Sometimes the game wants you to say them early, other times it wants later, and it seems to depend on the track. I'm okay with that variance but it's no fun when you've finally hit your flow and the game fails you and ends the track. I'd prefer just to have a much lower score but get to continue the track for the enjoyment of myself and the audience. It would also be nice to have a vocal timing calibration like Twitch Sings and Rock Band did, but a lack of No Fail mode combined with the game randomly shutting off would fix the biggest objections I have with this game. I definitely recommend, but be warned about those glitches.
Bought this back in 2020, off a recommendation by the dev in some Facebook group we shared. There's a fun idea in here and some genuine passion put into the detail of the specific topics you can get into. Indeed, it's actually kinda fun to get into a flow and feel like you're doing a good job, but the rest of it leaves little staying power. Coupled with a chronic lack of updates (last was three years ago), there's no reason for you to pick this up. In the off chance you find it, unless you're a big fan of hip-hop and want to practice freestyling, stay away. If the dev had sold this for £10 or less, it probably would have done numbers. Alas.
