Title: Revolution 60 - A Waste of Pixels and Brain Cells Developer: A Twitter TROLL Date: 6 Sep, 2016 - The date that should have been cancelled Oh my God, where do I even begin with this abominable excuse for a game? Revolution 60 is without a doubt the most repulsive, vomit-inducing pile of garbage I have ever had the misfortune to subject my eyes and brain to. From its unbearably cringe-worthy dialogue, to its grotesquely designed character models that look exactly like rejected Lego pieces that were cobbled together by a group of blind monkeys, Revolution 60 is a nightmare brought to life. The graphics are so hideous and primitive that a 5-year-old's finger painting seems like Mona Lisa in comparison. Now let's talk gameplay. Or rather, let's not. Because there isn't any. Revolution 60 is a glorified visual novel with the most tedious combat system I've ever encountered. The "fights" consist of pressing buttons in a specific order while your character auto-attacks. It is like trying to play Rock-Paper-Scissors with your grandma who has Parkinson's disease. And the puzzles, oh dear... They are so illogical they might as well be written in a foreign language. But wait, there's more! Revolution 60 also boasts some of the most irritating and grating voice acting I have ever had to endure. The actress playing the protagonist, sounds like a dying cat being strangled by a pack of rabid hyenas - and that's being generous. To add insult to injury, Revolution 60 has a roster of unlikeable and underdeveloped characters that you could care less about. It is so abysmal that it makes your average YouTube video feel like an Oscar-winning performance. In conclusion, Revolution 60 is a catastrophic failure on every conceivable level. It is a game that should have never seen the light of day and should be buried deep in the dark recesses of gaming history, forgotten by all but the most masochistic of players. Avoid this steaming pile of garbage at all costs. And to those who might consider reporting this review - go ahead, I dare you. I'll be waiting with bated breath for your pathetic attempts at censorship. Any attempts at doxing or harassing me based on this review are not going to change the facts or accuracy of the information presented.

I bought this back when this was released in 2016, played about a hour of it, was a bit underwhelmed, put it in the backlog. Decided to come back 10 years later and play through the darn thing. Yup, still pretty underwhelming. In all fairness I have to say the game isn't an unmitigated disaster overall - I've played so much worse games - but it just tries too hard to be much more than it actually is, and all the PC port jank doesn't help. It's just not a game that I can recommend anyone to play for fun, or even to play as a historical footnote. Overall, the game is plagued by the developers coming up with neat ideas and then failing to make sure that the ideas work as a cohesive whole, and sometimes not if the ideas work individually. Example one: ooh, a combat system based on a tactical grid! ...which isn't all that tactical in practice. Combine that with the short length of the game, lack of enemy variety and the fact that combat takes a sizable chunk of the game runtime, it's a recipe for disaster. Example two: Reputation/loyalty/competence scores - which would matter a lot more if it was part of a huge multi-factional narrative (like Mass Effect), but now it's "do you side with this person or that one? are you professional or a rogue? can you do things or not?" It ultimately ends up mattering very little. (I know the devs cited Mass Effect as influence, but that's a game series with 100+-hour runtime and hundreds of characters and side plots. A 3 hour game with 5 main characters with a few branching paths should probably not try to act bigger than it actually is.) Example three: the game has RPG character progression, but the stuff hardly matters when the game whizzes past you. You can do powerups. Whee. Writing is frustrating. The overall plot is fairly formulaic, yet there's all this bedazzling backstory and lore that is hinted at various points. Competent writers do show-don't-tell to intrigue the audience and make them want to learn more. Here, however, the audience goes "I know how this story will go, all of these random details are just muddling things". Now, I appreciate the fact that the developers took a mobile game and at least mildly tried to think of how to do the controls in a distinct way on PC. But I'm afraid it falls flat in practice. A lot of the game is based on quick-time events, and for those, you can do mobile-style slidey puzzles with a mouse or - or! - you can do The Typing of the Dead. The frustrating thing is, the controls are janky. I have no idea if I kept messing up some of the QTEs or if the input was buggy, I had to switch to mouse control to get through some parts. Third person "exploration" sections have mouse control that you sort of have to trick to center it, otherwise things get wonky. Also, typing activation sounds like a neat idea at first but gets really really repetitive. I think the game was sold as "kinda like Mass Effect, but with girl power and gimmick controls". Eeeeehhh, if you squint a bit, the description might fit. However: If you want Mass Effect, you know where to find it. If you want girl power games, there's so many better games nowadays, and this game just doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as some of the best examples. If you want games with gimmick controls, again, there's a zillion cool indie games on Steam.
It's kino.
Honestly, it's not really even worth getting as a joke. I was gonna write a semi-serious review but it's not really worth it. Not especially fun or entertaining or ...... anything, really. At least it's brief, I guess? If you do get it, play it on Girlfriend difficulty or you're a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nerd, lol.
lol, lmao even
Hold my beer, I'm gonna stan this game. The reviews are obviously harshly negative, and I didn't back this on Kickstarter (so I don't know if the developers overpromised or something), but I don't think it deserves the negativity. Considering this was a mobile game in 2014, it seems pretty ambitious in what it tried to be. (It was ported to PC for $5,000 on Kickstarter and then remastered in 2016.) That lets me feel better about the gameplay limitations. To be fair, if you accept them, they kind of work in its favor; on Girlfriend difficulty, the QTEs and combat are pretty challenging! They're harder and more heart-pumping than the combat in any of the Mass Effect games and took a fraction of the budget to implement, so hey. The plot is also ambitious and interesting, delving into U.S.-China geopolitics with a cartoony Ghost in the Shell aesthetic. All in all, It seems like a fun and creative low-budget mobile game. Also, while many got fooled into thinking the end boss fight is impossibly bugged, it's actually an ingenuous test of problem solving skill. It has a "circle QTE", which is impossible to solve via keyboard controls. It also has an "up arrow + down arrow QTE", which is impossible to solve via mouse controls. When the "circle QTE" appears, you're supposed to press the ⏸️ pause button in the lower-left corner of the screen, go into the settings, switch from keyboard controls to mouse controls, resume the game, and solve it with the mouse cursor. Then, when the "up arrow + down arrow QTE" appears, switch back to keyboard controls, resume, and solve it with the arrow keys. Most mind-bendingly meta boss fight sequence ever.
This game is comparable to Undertale in terms of originality, immersive storyline and character development. On the downside, however, Revolution 60 is not a good choice for players who want fast-paced action.
The Color Pallet is very intresting, also the game play is something i dind´t thought was possibel
