I had fun with this.
Interesting... Curious as to how this will develop and hopefully not die.
Unreal Engine 4.
Будто всё сделано из публичных ассетов и готовых шаблонов за 30 минут
(кстати на 30 мин меня и хватило).
You literally cannot even log in and the dev communication is non-existent as to what they are doing or why. A stress test does not work if you limit who can get into the game.
Got ambushed by a cloaker with a flamer. 10/10 game. Fully Customizable loadout, can make full dps, tank, or support and any combination between.
REVN is an Early Access attempt at making a PvP only third person arena shooter. It's a painfully generic, vaguely sci-fi themed soulless, playerless disaster with no notable differentiating factors. Gameplay consists of third person shooting in a small, closed PvP arena. Kill the other players and you win, hooray. There's MOBA elements to the game that failed to catch on or make any real difference here. It failed. SteamDB shows the game peaked at just 29 players, which is a pitiful number, and now the game has practically no players, with numbers typically less than 4 on any given day (probably the developers themselves). While this is still being updated, these are updates made for no players, because the game is already dead. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! The painfully generic, bland sci-fi theme doesn't help. PvP gamers have literally thousands of games to choose from, hundreds of AAA games that are either free or cost next to nothing. Games have to actually offer something if they want to compete for players time. For some unknown reason the developers, apparently out of touch with gamers and unaware of the nature of PC gaming, decided to make this a third person shooter instead of a first person shooter. Third person shooters are very popular with console peasants, because console peasants become confused, angry and afraid if they can't see their character on their television sets when playing on their console appliances. There is no justification to apply this limitation to PC gamers. The developers took the nasty, anti-gamer decision to force gamers to surrender their private email address and other personal information just to play the game. Nobody liked that, so nobody made accounts for this crapheap. Were the developers unaware of SteamWorks? Or just decided it would be better to screw over and spy on a small number of gamers rather than making their game accessible and acceptable to gamers? This is a bewildering, almost deliberate decision from the developers to fail, hard. And they succeeded. Part of the reason for the game failing was predatory monetization. Tha game is absolutely infested with nasty monetization schemes. There's literally nothing you could do in the game without the developers breaking down your door and holding their hands out for money. That isn't cool, and gamers hate that crap. The developers made the terrible mistake of launching a multiplayer only game in Early Access. This is almost certain to kill the game. Most gamers will evaluate a game only once. If they do so when the game is incomplete, they will check it out, then abandon it. When (IF) the game eventually does get around to release, there will be no players, because the developers burned the first impressions through their faulty Early Access experience. Players who saw the game and didn't like it because it was incomplete do not come back. Multiplayer games must have a large population if they are to go "viral" and succeed, especially without single player content to fall back on. Releasing a multiplayer only game into early access kills the game population, and thus the game, before the game even launches. The developers made the fatal, lazy mistake of believing that PvP, other players, would be an acceptable substitute for doing the difficult job of adding single player level design, storytelling, NPCs and other rich aspects of designed game content to the game. As a result of this choice by the developers, the game has little to no actual interactive game content. It's a little considered fact that the vast majority of PvP only, multiplayer only games fail. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable subsititue for doing the job of game developers and building a game filled with content. PvP only games must have a huge player base for them to "go viral" and succeed. But with no single player experience to add lasting value to a game, the developers instead chose to bet against all odds that their game would "go viral" without any actual reason for players to want to play the game. Predictably, they lost this bet.
This game is amazing, and has a lively community. Check it out.
Amazing development team that you can interact and play with (join discord). The developers have biweekly (two every week) playtests where you can play with them and other members of the welcoming community. It is a unique idea and under steady development with clear end goal in mind. I highly recommend trying it out and joining the discord for some fun.
