игра проходится на одном дыхании, и можно сказаьт, что это machinarium VR
Good point-and-click style VR game. Enjoyed the comedy and got several genuine laughs out of me. Do think episode 1 is the most polished, with later ones suffering more from some of the classic pitfalls of the genre. Stuff like pixel hunts for non-obvious items or interaction points. There is a built in walkthrough from the devs, which I did end up using a little, so you don't have to be stuck any longer than you want to. Still happy with the time and money I spent on it and looking forward to 3rd game or anything else by the devs.
I liked the original, this is just as good, just more polished. Some puzzles were buggy, and some were impossible to solve without the walkthrough
Nice, simple and short point and click in VR. Get it if it's on sale.
I bought this because I really enjoyed the first one. The graphics are crisp and the artstyle is pretty cool. The story wasn't as good as the first one, nor was the humor. There were a lot of bad, but funny puns in the first one. The sequel took too much of a serious turn for my taste. The puzzles were too frustrating, (one was very glitchy) and the ending really sucks. I'm not motivated to buy a 3rd Retropolis if it comes out.
Retropolis 2: Never Say Goodbye, developed and published by Peanut Button, stands out as a visually striking and immersive virtual reality adventure that transports players to a neon-soaked, post-apocalyptic city inhabited exclusively by robots. Building upon the foundation laid by its predecessor, The Secret of Retropolis, this sequel delves deeper into the world of Philip Log, a grizzled robo-detective, and Jenny Montage, an automated femme fatale with secrets of her own. The game invites players into a richly detailed setting that combines elements of film noir and classic point-and-click adventure storytelling, wrapped in a futuristic dystopian aesthetic that is both haunting and vibrant. The gameplay in Retropolis 2 is designed with accessibility and immersion in mind, making full use of VR controls to offer a seamless experience. Players interact with the environment using Philip Log’s signature extendo-arms, which allow them to reach, grab, and manipulate objects from a distance. This mechanic enhances the sense of presence within the game world, encouraging players to engage directly with puzzles and narrative elements. Compared to the first game, this installment introduces a variety of new challenges, including intricate logic puzzles and rotation-based brainteasers, adding complexity and depth that require players to think critically and carefully observe their surroundings. Additionally, the game features multiple interconnected environments, expanding the scope and giving the narrative a stronger sense of progression. One of the most impressive aspects of Retropolis 2 is its painstakingly handcrafted art style. Every 3D asset has been hand-painted, with the developers reportedly applying over 2.5 million virtual brush strokes to create the game’s richly textured environments. This attention to detail is evident in every corner of the world, from rain-slicked streets and flickering neon signs to the worn surfaces of robot inhabitants. The result is an atmospheric setting that not only serves as a backdrop for the story but becomes a character in its own right. The combination of art and lighting evokes the moody, shadowy feel of classic noir films while maintaining a futuristic edge, pulling players into a visually captivating experience that rewards careful exploration. Critically, Retropolis 2 has been well-received for its engaging narrative and thoughtfully designed puzzles, which are praised for their balance between challenge and accessibility. Reviewers have highlighted the game’s success in blending a compelling detective story with VR interaction, creating an experience that appeals to fans of mystery and adventure alike. The evocative world-building and immersive atmosphere have also been commended, making the game a standout among indie VR titles. However, some criticisms have been leveled at the game's relatively short length and the lack of high-quality voice acting, which some felt could have further enhanced the storytelling. Despite these minor drawbacks, the overall reception has been positive, underscoring the game’s strengths in design and narrative cohesion. In essence, Retropolis 2: Never Say Goodbye is a noteworthy addition to the VR adventure genre, offering a unique blend of detective noir aesthetics and futuristic storytelling. It provides players with a thoughtfully crafted world to explore, full of challenging puzzles and atmospheric storytelling that rewards curiosity and attention to detail. Its hand-painted visuals and intuitive VR mechanics combine to create an experience that feels both fresh and nostalgic. For players seeking a story-driven adventure with immersive VR interaction and a strong artistic vision, Retropolis 2 delivers an engaging journey through a dark, robotic cityscape where every shadow hides a secret waiting to be uncovered. Enjoyed the story and the puzzles made sense
7/10. Stories are good. Puzzles became farfetched sometimes.
