Super fun! 10/10
Short, fun little puzzle game. Finished it under 3 hours.
The game mechanics definitely reminded me of Zero Escape and I appreciated the logic puzzles as well as how there were hints to push one to the right path in the game. The story was great and got me to feel more invested in the characters within the first few minutes of interacting with them. Each END brought all the characters closer or at least let the player know how close they all were/are to each other. The soundtracks were amazing and did a great job of evoking emotions throughout the game. I might edit this to be more specific, but in the meanwhile I'm looking forward to Schrodinger's Catgirl!
游戏剧情非常的棒,就是价格定的太高了,如果降一半价格销量肯定会增加不少,期待作者新的作品!
So full of character and clever design for such a short and sweet game! The art and writing came together to create a surprising amount of emotional depth by the end, which I think is sold by just how likeable the characters are. Plus its all super queer. Hope that people who stumble across this give it a chance. It's a little rough here and there, but still an impressive achievement overall with a satisfying payoff.
At first I was hesitant because some of the early dialogue was pretty clunky, and getting all the endings could be a hassle figuring out how to trigger things just right (I think I even still missed one). However, as the game went on, it REALLY grew on me. The characters aren't super deep, but they have little genuine moments and compelling flaws that make them likeable. The art, especially the painted stills, are gorgeous. It can feel a little cliche at times, but the art and the geninuine-ness of it all make it still stick. It's a nice subtle tragedy. Definitely one of my favorites. It's not very long, and the puzzles are pretty limited and simple, but I think it's definitely worth checking out. The devs have a LOT of potential
Stupidly good for the low price, has good art and fantastic music.
Retrace is top-down adventure game that draws on grisly visual novels like the Zero Escape series but differentiates itself with an emphasizes on queer romance. Freya - the main character - is caught in a time-loop and forced to solve a series of fiendish puzzles where failure yields lethal results for her and her friends. Retrace isn't particularly long, with the game's middle-act feeling like the most fully-realised of the three. I reached the credits in about three hours. Still, most of this felt like time well spent. The atmospheric soundtrack works wonders when it comes to getting you in the mood and the evocative character art invites you to invest yourself further still. The game does an excellent job of motivating you to save Freya and her friends. Most of all, the thing that sticks with me about Retrace is the thoughtfulness of it all. The puzzles, the writing, the visuals and the sound all feel very considered and deliberate - not just in how they function alone but also how they play off each other. Overall, Retrace a sweet, if short, adventure that I can absolutely recommend to fans of the genre - especially if they're excited by the promise of something that doesn't awkwardly mishandle or shy away from same-sex relationships.
