If I could leave a "Mixed" option I would. Short version: Ive had 60 hours in this game through Steam and several hundred more hours off steam in browser. The steam page for this game is effectively an ad for the game to people on this platform to try to get new recruits. I came across the game this way, and played the game for a year and a half almost daily up until about 5 minutes ago. Anyways here's the good and the bad: Good: - Multiple countries to RP as a politician in, with more getting added as time goes on. Netherlands is next in line to add to the US, UK, France, Germany, China, Russia, Australia, and China - Many in game issues to write legislation about. As politicians you can write bills when elected to a public office, and the bills can be about several dozen topics, including custom bills that can be about anything. I entered the game writing a bill about marrying anime-body pillows for sh**s and giggles, somehow ended up authoring the tax code used by the US in game for like 9 months - Many political parties to join a part of, including legacy parties like Democrats, Republican, Labor, and Conservative in the US + UK, as well as custom created parties like the Socialist Party, Militech, and one party I made called "German Eggplant Party" also for sh**s and giggles - Stock Market element that makes the Poli-Sci game also double as a big economics simulator. Managed to generate a wealth of about $4 billion which put me in the top 25 of the entire player base by making meme companies like a communications company based off my name "Bentflix" and also an industrials company made, as per my brand, purely for sh**s and giggles called "Squirrel ♥♥♥♥♥" - In Game discords for different countries and different national parties that allow you to stay very well connected with other people who share similar beliefs. Aaaaaaand now here's the bad: - Lots of inactivity in certain countries. Russia, Germany, and China are almost completely dead in terms of passing legislation/bills, and once the Netherlands gets added the same thing will probably happen. - Countries that aren't inactive are largely dominated by a single party. Due to massive amounts of money players can earn in the stock market within the game, self made parties that are just clusters of greedy rich players imposing their will on other parties eventually overran several countries, chief among them the US, completely killing the more creative strategy + alliance type of strategies used by parties in the past to survive, and instead replacing it with a 'buy-your-way-to-the-top' path that really takes away from the game... In other words, one can argue that the stock market sim part of the game absolutely upended the poli sim part of the game and ruined everything - Nearly impossible for new parties to make their way up the ranks now. In order to boost party influence in a region, it costs cash to do so. Problem is that thanks to the stock market part of the game, states such as Florida or New York can now cost several billion dollars for a party to try to overtake, and even if that somehow is accomplished the ruling party that has so much more financial capital can just immediately bury the new parties back down with billions more spending. - Because its almost impossible for new parties to gain traction, entire sets of political beliefs get immediately shut down when it comes to legislation. In the US for example, the party that dominates all others is a corporatist party "Militech" that is incredibly hostile to any even remotely left wing legislation. Because this party is so large though, it also absorbs members away from actually traditional right-wing parties as well, such as the Republican and Constitution parties, since even right wingers dont have any path to in-game fame if they dont join the main party that BOUGHT their way to power. Im fortunate enough that i had the vast majority of my fun before the game got heavily compromised by the addition of the stock market aspect of the game, but ever since that part has been added in, the main poli-sim core part of the game has become far too distorted for new players and even older players like myself to really be able to enjoy anymore, which is why I opted to walk away from the game despite accomplishing a half-decent legacy for myself while I was there. Other games like POWER, Battle For The Hill, The Political Machine, etc may better scratch the itch for those of you seeking poli-sim games compared to Respublica at its current state.

Respublica is an abandoned Early Access browser game that's been dumped on Steam (seriously it's just HTML, looks like it was slapped together with a website builder, even the Captcha). It's an online only multiplayer/PvP only browser game, thematically a ripoff of games like The Political Machine, but with toxic moderation and an established, antisocial tiny subset of players clinging on for zero discernable reason. You're supposed to "roleplay" a politician, although if you bring up any actual political issues there's a good chance the developers will ban you, based on numerous community accounts of this happening. This obviously fails every basic test for any modern PC game because it's basically just a webpage. The developers couldn't even work out how to make fullscreen work. Perhaps that's why they stopped updating the game almost 3 years ago. Software development is difficult for some. At least they didn't use GameMaker Studio to excrete yet another 2D retro pixel platformer. Regardless, it's a joke that PC gamers would want to play a webpage that doesn't even display fullscreen. This plays like one of those time gated mobile apps where you log on, do a couple of things then wait wait wait. That's the kind of cancer Steam really doesn't need, and I'm surprised they didn't push this one straight to the app stores. It's clearly not designed for PC gamers... but don't take my word for it. SteamDB shows the game only ever had 43 concurrent players, although it is remarkable people still play this despite it being abandoned and incomplete. There's up to 12 players online each day, who will of course be keen to kerbstomp you if you make the terrible decision to hand over your personal details to the developers, who apparently "need to know" that kind of stuff about you. I guess that goes hand-in-hand with reports that the developers will gleefully ban anyone for being slightly controversial by bringing up agenda that, well, real world politicians are handling every day. So considering this game only has one job, to be a PvP political simulator, it's a complete joke that the devs will ban you for mentioning politics. The developers appear to be involved in suspicious data harvesting as they eschew SteamWorks (because SteamWorks does not facilitate privacy invasion in the ways the developers prefer) in favour of demanding users hand over their email address and other private, personal details. Presumably this is so they can profile you, collect data on you, combine that data with other sources and sell your private information off to the highest bidder (and, in fact, anyone else who is willing to pay for it). That's reprehensible and must not be tolerated. I'm sure they'll swear black and blue they don't, so "just trust them", but I wouldn't trust these shady developers as far as I could throw them. An ethical developer would use SteamWorks, there's no real excuse for trying to collect people's private data like email addresses. Given all the shady stuff surrounding this webpage-not-game, the shoddy quality, the toxic mods and community, and the abandoned, incomplete nature fof the game, it's impossible to recommend. Stay safe out there.

Awful game, developers ban you if you leave bad reviews, they ban you if you propose legislation they don't like, they ban you if they don't like you. I never even got invested just because when I played the game I saw awful behavior.
Seems broken. Steam account linking doesn't work and most pages don't load properly.

so little thing to do mate but great concept
It's decent...
Since the devs shutdown the game it shouldn't even be up here anymore.
