Note: A totally awesome friend gifted me a copy of this game. ^^
An interesting but predictable story twist that just feels like more of the same...

Introduction
Rescue Team: Phantom Crisis is a time management game developed by Game Mixer and published by Alawar Casual. It is the 20th game in the Rescue Team series, and this time, our team of heroes steps up to its latest challenge as paranormal threats are frightening the citizens. A covert team known as the "Phantom Hunters" is able to fight off against this foe, but there's something very suspicious about them... As for the gameplay, there are the usual three difficulty levels: relaxed, normal, and hard. 50 main story levels and 15 bonus levels are available. In each level, you have to complete a set number of objectives that can range from evacuating people to searching warehouses. Assuming that you play on timed mode, depending on how quickly you complete all the goals, you can earn up to 3 stars per level. Stars are used to purchase upgrades in the shop, and upgrades can include making your workers run faster. Steam achievements are available, and at the time of this review, they count towards a user's global total.
Review
Up to now, no matter how out there the story is or how challenging the gameplay can be, I've enjoyed the Rescue Team games in general. However, this one felt like a disappointment although whether it has turned me off from the series, well, you'll see. :o
Story and Gameplay
I like how there's a new story idea going on here. In the previous game, Legion of Destruction, there was a recycling of villains turned heroes turned back to villains turned back to heroes. (Yes, I know that's a mouthful. lol) Thankfully, this isn't the case here. This time, the rescue team has to deal with ghosts, but they get help from the Phantom Hunters. As the story progresses, though, the rescue team becomes suspicious of the Phantom Hunters, finding evidence that they aren't whom they appear to be. It ends up being somewhat predictable as well as with how the story ends. To the story's credit, I will say that with the bonus content, I wasn't expecting events to happen the way they did. As for the gameplay, it's pretty doable. For review purposes, I played on normal mode and I found all the levels to be beatable with 3 stars. Add in the upgrades, and the game becomes very easy. The only new gameplay mechanic is dismantling the cursed windows, which is where the Phantom Hunters come to help. Other than that, it's the same as in previous games. Now, here's where I'd usually praise that all the achievements are obtainable, and yes, at the time of this review, I did get all of them. However, upon initial release, a few Steam achievements were broken and a lot of them didn't correspond correctly to the in-game achievements. Of course, this has been fixed, but what I found to be extremely annoying is that despite being told otherwise, I was forced to start a new profile to get the previously broken Steam achievements, which shouldn't have been the case. Also, this isn't the first time that I was conscripted into being a playtester for a game that should have been polished before being released to the public. It shouldn't be acceptable that newly released games have major bugs that force players to become testers. So yes, this is a major factor in how I rate the game.
Art and Music
According to the store page, some AI was used in the art creation, and it's fairly obvious when you look at the sprites. Personally, I miss when the art was more done by people although with these games, I focus more on the gameplay. Anyway, it feels pretty much the same as in previous games, but the addition of ghost projections and cursed mirrors helps to mix things up a bit. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3789729560 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3789729642 With the music, the tracks are the same as in previous games. Even though the tracks fit well with the game's theme of helping out people and whatnot, I do wish one or two new tracks were added to add some variety. Otherwise, the series can feel repetitive.
Conclusion
Would I recommend Rescue Team: Phantom Crisis? Because it feels more of the same and I had the issue with Steam achievements, currently, I can't recommend the game. Also, from what I read, this isn't the first game published by Alawar Casual that has had issues with Steam achievements, so I'm seriously hoping that for any future releases, the games are thoroughly tested before they're released to the public. Without Steam achievements, I'd actually recommend the game since it works fine like that. However, I'm rating it down because I do want Alawar Casual to have better QA when it comes to its games, especially since I've been a fan of its TM games and I only wish for the games to get better.
Rescue Team: Phantom Crisis takes the familiar structure of a casual rescue and time-management game and places it inside a supernatural emergency filled with strange phenomena, damaged infrastructure, and unexplained threats. Developed by Game Mixer and published by Alawar Casual, the game builds its campaign around a city facing a crisis that ordinary emergency services cannot easily explain. Instead of dealing exclusively with fires, wreckage, and conventional disasters, the Rescue Team must contend with ghostly appearances, malfunctioning technology, mysterious screams, and anomalies that suggest something far more dangerous is happening behind the scenes. The premise gives the campaign a stronger sense of mystery than a straightforward sequence of rescue missions. Paranormal disturbances begin spreading across the city while a secretive organization known as the Phantom Hunters attempts to understand and contain them. Their investigation eventually intersects with the work of the Rescue Team, creating a situation in which practical disaster relief and supernatural investigation become closely connected. Civilians still need immediate assistance regardless of what caused the catastrophe, so the player is repeatedly placed between solving ordinary emergencies and confronting increasingly unusual circumstances. At its core, Phantom Crisis remains a resource-management and time-management experience. Each location presents a collection of problems that must be solved in an efficient sequence. Roads may be blocked, structures can require repairs, fires need to be extinguished, and stranded people must be reached. Completing these tasks depends on managing workers and resources carefully. Deciding which obstruction to remove first or which facility to restore can influence how quickly the rest of a level becomes manageable. The individual actions are easy to understand, but finding an efficient order for them gives the missions their puzzle-like quality. This approach makes Phantom Crisis accessible without removing the need for planning. Rather than overwhelming the player with complicated economic systems or enormous construction menus, the game concentrates on smaller scenarios with clearly defined objectives. Resources need to be collected and spent at appropriate moments, while rescuers must be directed toward the most important jobs. Successful play therefore comes from recognizing dependencies between objectives. Repairing one facility might improve resource production, while clearing a particular path may provide access to an area containing people or materials needed elsewhere. The paranormal theme helps prevent the familiar rescue activities from feeling completely routine. Investigating anomalies alongside the Phantom Hunters introduces unusual circumstances into missions that would otherwise revolve around conventional disaster management. The escalating suggestion that reality itself is becoming unstable provides a narrative explanation for the increasingly bizarre events. Importantly, the game does not abandon its light and approachable identity in pursuit of horror. The supernatural elements function primarily as an adventurous mystery rather than an attempt to create an intensely frightening experience. The campaign contains 65 levels, providing plenty of opportunities for its rescue mechanics and supernatural storyline to develop. Progression extends beyond completing one mission after another because players can improve equipment and develop their heroes. These systems create a modest sense of advancement throughout the campaign and complement the level-based structure. Secret materials and coordinate maps can also be discovered, giving completion-focused players additional reasons to examine stages carefully instead of concentrating exclusively on primary objectives. A step-by-step level guide is another useful inclusion, particularly because time-management games can occasionally become frustrating when the correct sequence of actions is difficult to identify. Players who prefer discovering optimal solutions independently can simply focus on experimentation, while those who become stuck have an accessible source of assistance. The inclusion of 39 Steam achievements further encourages completion and replay, particularly for players who enjoy thoroughly exploring a campaign rather than stopping immediately after reaching its conclusion. The additional package is fairly generous for a compact casual strategy release. An original soundtrack is available for players interested in the game's music, and desktop wallpapers provide another small bonus. Steam Cloud support is particularly practical for maintaining progress between compatible systems, while Family Sharing adds convenience within the Steam ecosystem. The experience itself is designed around single-player play, which fits naturally with its carefully structured series of management puzzles. Technical requirements are modest, reflecting the game's accessible presentation rather than demanding high-end graphical technology. The listed minimum specifications include a 2 GHz processor, 6 GB of memory, DirectX 11-compatible graphics with at least 512 MB of video memory, and approximately 1 GB of storage. These requirements should make the game approachable for a relatively broad selection of PC configurations. The Steam information also discloses that generative AI tools assisted with the creation of some visual assets, while the gameplay, mechanics, and interactive portions were developed by the team. That disclosure may be relevant to players who consider production methods when deciding what to purchase. Visually, the colorful and readable presentation suits the practical demands of time-management gameplay. A game built around rapidly identifying workers, pathways, resources, buildings, hazards, and objectives benefits from clarity more than elaborate visual realism. The supernatural subject matter creates an entertaining contrast with this brighter presentation. Phantom Crisis consequently feels more like a paranormal rescue adventure than traditional horror, making its ghosts and anomalies approachable even for players who normally avoid frightening games. Its greatest limitation is also part of its intended appeal. Players searching for a highly sophisticated city simulator, unrestricted building system, complex economy, or demanding tactical experience will probably find the mechanics too controlled. Levels are constructed as focused logistical challenges rather than open-ended simulations. For fans of casual strategy, however, that structure keeps the experience immediately understandable and provides satisfying short-term goals without requiring extensive preparation. Rescue Team: Phantom Crisis succeeds by giving an established rescue-management formula an entertaining supernatural identity. The combination of resource planning, civilian rescues, infrastructure repairs, firefighting, upgrades, collectibles, and paranormal investigations creates enough variety to sustain its sizeable campaign. The mystery surrounding the Phantom Hunters gives the missions a reason to feel connected, while the straightforward controls and structured objectives preserve the accessibility expected from the genre. Developed by Game Mixer and published by Alawar Casual, it is a well-rounded casual strategy adventure that should particularly suit players who enjoy efficient planning wrapped inside a light supernatural story. Rating: 6/10
