ReFramed is a badass, old-school FPS horror game set in the Solarix universe. Relive the terrors of Solarix in this high-octane, bullet spraying reimagining, only this time, stealth is not an option...

Did not finish game. This game is not very fun. I really wanted to get into it. I like these kind of graphics and that is about the best thing in this game. The story really didnt catch me and the gameplay is boring and the guns really dont shoot the enemies half the time, the sniper scope is literally a joke, i actually laughed at it.
I have not played through the original game "Solarix", but got this on sale , it did look interesting and I heard it was a horror story driven combination of Deus Ex, System Shock 2 and Thief, all great titles. I can see the attempts made by the developers to make this more of a action based FPS...the game is certainly playable but only OK and as such it lacks alot of polish with the gunplay. It can also be buggy when reloading a save which is checkpoint based. The hit detection is very unreliable, the weapons laughably inaccurate and some gunfire, when actually accurate, will go straight through the enemies you face, and it also seems to have a very short range for ballistic weapons. Possibly this was intentional by the developers to make you engage the enemies at medium to close range only, to ratchet up the tension that way. The Sniper Rifle is long range but it is not given every mission. The assault rifle can launch small grenades, but the grenade accuracy is terrible and random and hard to use effectively. The shotgun seems underpowered and woefully inaccurate even at close range and while enemies flinch when hit hard enough , the melee enemies do not react convincingly to heavy damage at all and will keep charging right in your face. This will be a problem later in the game when the cyborg melee enemines will take up to 6 shotgun blasts to eliminate , and will take almost all your health as well, as there is no push back from a shotgun blast on their bodies and they are guaranteed to absolutely wail on you, very unrealistic! Some enemies will also get stuck on corners or small objects in the level, particularly the just mentioned cyborgs with all the orange implants and glow on their bodies. Ironically, these cyborgs getting in a bugged state can be the only way to progress without being killed if you don't have enough medkits! The pistol and sniper rifle are passable and the better weapons. The strengths of the game is definitely the story and voice acting, particularly from AMI and Gregory Hart, as well as the general rain soaked atmosphere, moody dark graphics, ambient noise and art design. It certainly has a distinctive style and vibe all its own. I did play it to the end for the story, the gunplay though was unsatisfying, also there is not enough variation on weaponry, end of game relies on only the shotgun and assault rifle, with 3 of the 5 weapons unavailable! Get this on sale , but don't expect a AAA title. With a AAA budget, I really wonder how great Solarix and its FPS spinoff Reframed, could have been. Hats off to the developers for releasing the game regardless and there is certainly enjoyment here for gamers who like suspense and story with their horror shooting!
I am recommending this game, but there are a few asterisks on that. I like this game because of the atmosphere. I love it. It's so oppressive and dark. The premise of the story is another thing I like. Now onto the bad. Anything regarding the gunplay is crap. Guns are inaccurate, enemies come in only two varieties: run at you full speed and slowly walk towards you while shooting their inaccurate guns. The two weapons you will use the most, the assault rifle and the shotgun, are the two worst in the game because of their inaccuracy. This means that you have to get close to enemies to damage them, yet that also meant that they can hit you. And the gun enemies can shred you if you led them. The only saving grace is that Med-pack are EVERYWHERE. By the time I finished the game, my entire inventory screen have pretty much nothing but Med-packs, without hyperbole. The Gun sounds are also pretty unsatisfying and the movement often feels pretty slow. Pretty discounting for an FPS. Another small problem is that the music/ambient noise can easily overpower the dialogue. Yet I am still recommending it, because of pretty much everything other than that. It might have something to do with ReFramed being an action variant of a stealth game. Regardless, I like it for nearly everything other than gunplay.
intriguing, but has issues and is too difficult.

Love this game and the story. :)
Totaler Schrott und noch schlechter als Daikatana anno 2000.
One of the best shooter games I have ever played.
Will unbedingt die Erde erreichen. Als Walter Terrace , ein mit Vorstrafen eingefrorener Selbstmordklon soll man die arrogante philosophierende AlienKI E:Y:E aufhalten. Erinnert stark an System Shock 2. Empfehle dieses Spiel zum Sonderpreis. Steuerungstasten kann man verändern.Im Vergleich zu Alien Isolation , Dead Space , Syndrome oder das betagte Unreal 2, eher 3. Liga.
Reframed, developed and published by Playstige Interactive, is a first-person sci-fi horror shooter that reinterprets the universe of Solarix through a far more action-oriented lens. Rather than focusing on stealth and tension-driven survival mechanics, this title leans into retro-inspired gunplay and fast-paced combat. Set aboard and around a doomed research facility overtaken by infection, the game casts players as a hardened soldier navigating hostile corridors, alien landscapes, and overrun installations in a desperate fight for survival. Its ambition lies in blending old-school FPS sensibilities with atmospheric horror, creating a hybrid experience rooted in nostalgia. The core gameplay revolves around direct combat. Players are equipped with a range of firearms including pistols, automatic rifles, sniper weapons, and heavier artillery. Movement is straightforward and deliberately reminiscent of classic shooters—forward momentum, quick turns, and enemy encounters designed to keep players constantly engaged. The level design spans multiple distinct areas, including claustrophobic corridors, abandoned research complexes, and open planetary terrain. These environments aim to evoke isolation and danger while offering arenas for combat encounters against infected adversaries and hostile forces. Where Reframed distinguishes itself is in its commitment to a retro FPS identity. The visual presentation deliberately echoes older Unreal Engine aesthetics, with straightforward textures and lighting that recall early-2000s shooters. For some players, this design choice reinforces the nostalgic atmosphere the game aims to capture. For others, the dated visuals can feel less like homage and more like technical limitation. Character models and enemy designs, while functional, do not push graphical boundaries. However, the environments occasionally succeed in establishing mood through darkness, flickering lights, and abandoned laboratory settings. Combat, while energetic in concept, can feel uneven in execution. Enemy AI often displays highly accurate ranged attacks, creating moments of difficulty spikes that can feel abrupt. Weapons vary in effectiveness, and balancing inconsistencies may lead players to rely on certain firearms more than others. When encounters flow well, firefights can feel chaotic and satisfying, particularly when backed by the game’s intense soundtrack. However, moments of mechanical friction—such as inconsistent weapon impact or repetitive enemy behavior—can disrupt that rhythm. Beyond action, Reframed attempts to preserve elements of its horror roots. Environmental storytelling, scattered lore fragments, and audio logs provide glimpses into the station’s collapse. Darkened hallways and abandoned research labs evoke the remnants of failed containment efforts. These quieter moments offer atmospheric contrast to the action-heavy sequences, though they sometimes struggle to maintain sustained tension due to pacing inconsistencies. The balance between horror ambiance and relentless combat does not always feel fully integrated, but the effort to maintain thematic continuity is evident. Sound design plays a mixed but important role. Ambient effects contribute to isolation in certain segments, and the soundtrack injects urgency during firefights. Weapon audio and enemy cues, however, may lack the visceral impact expected from a modern shooter. The audio landscape supports the game’s tone but does not elevate it significantly beyond its functional role. Overall, Reframed occupies a niche within indie sci-fi shooters. It does not aim for cinematic storytelling or modern AAA polish. Instead, it embraces a retro-inspired approach centered on reflex-based gunplay and straightforward progression. Its strengths lie in its nostalgic ambition and commitment to fast-paced action. Its weaknesses emerge in balance issues and limited mechanical refinement. For players who appreciate throwback FPS experiences and are willing to overlook rough edges, Reframed offers bursts of engaging combat within a familiar sci-fi horror framework. For those seeking tightly tuned systems and deeply immersive horror, it may feel more uneven than cohesive. Rating: 5/10
