Minor spoilers ahead
I first played a bit of this game on mobile years back, but didn’t really get into it for some reason. I found it here on steam and thought “why not give it another go?” and bought it. I’m so glad I did, because this game is really good. The background images are gorgeous! From lighting to color palate, the art is so beautiful. I like the CGs as well, they are very well drawn and convey the right emotions for their respective scenes. Every character is designed well and their personalities are all distinct and well rounded. The BGM is easy on the ears, fits the mood and doesn’t get annoying or distracting. The game works on a point system, where each choice effects your personality, and in turn, the ending you will get. Choices will get you either Charming/gentle or blunt/aggressive points, which is something I haven’t yet seen in a visual novel before so it’s pretty cool. As for the story line, I think it was a bit short and rushed, the relationship I mean. I mean I’m not sure, but do people throw their lives away for each other after knowing each other for barely 2 weeks? Another thing to note is how little backstory there is for the MC. Sure we know a few things about him but none of it ever gets explained. One last bad thing: I was a bit disappointed that the game fell into the stereotype of “big man must protect, small man is weak and must be protected”. I sort of saw it coming when I started playing Luka’s route; all of a sudden, the MC becomes all flirty and in control where usually he is in no control (and in need of protection) and is the one being flirted at. I bet if Luka wasn’t a twink the MC would be behaving how he usually does with the other guys: shy, bashful and in need of saving. I just don’t get why Luka doesn’t get to be just as sly/dangerous and tough as the rest of the guys. I don’t know if that made a lot of sense, as it’s a bit hard to explain. Other than that, the plot was a nice balance of angst, drama and romance. I definitely recommend even with its flaws.

There's not that many good yaoi visual novels. However: This one is truly great in many ways. Multiple choices to make, paths to go through. Such beautiful artwork, very neat atmosphere. And even the writing is quite enjoyable in this. They clearly put a ton of effort into this game. You can influence the personality, that's dope. And it truly makes a difference in the choices. It even affects the overall dialogue, just great. There's also a pretty good soundtrack in here. While It's true, the game itself is kind of short. But there's a lot of replayability to be had too. Especially, if you aim for 100% Achievements. Overall: Red Embrace is in my eyes just great. It's definitely amongst the better yaoi games. So yea, I just have to give it a positive review. Red Embrace was definitely worth it, loved it.
And another game were you have 100% give the right answers you can only guess or you get the bad end. Sorry, I am done and tired with games working like that. Games where you mandatory have to have a walkthrough beside to get the ending you want because the content gives you ZERO hints to know from the game itself. Nope. Nope. Nope.
These gender unidentifiable characters...not fun!
Wattpad with multiple choice answers. That's all you need to know.
Достижение "допотопный" не открывается из-за лагов игры, прочитанный текст 1%, хотя я прошла все концовки и открыла все 9 достижений, другие люди тоже писали о неисправности этого достижения, однако почему-то разрабы не исправляют
Short Review
Gameplay: 8/10 Visuals: 5/10 Audio/Sound Design: 3/10 Voice Acting: N/A Story: 6/10 Overall: 5.5/10
Gameplay
8/10 Your standard visual novel, I use 5/10 as the standard rate for this software. The extra points come from the choices themselves. This game has a very unique personality system which unlocks different choices and endings, which I found both charming and annoying. It frustrated me considering you need to go through EVERY dialogue option combination (including subsets such as your passion between music, art, and writing which added nothing but slight flavor text), but charmed me as the unique dialogue and choices really did feel immersive. I like this feature quite a bit, as it adds actually interesting flavor-text rather than boring little blurbs. Gives you a different vibe for each playthrough.
Visuals
5/10 Honestly? The art is just average. And the jumping between art styles for CGs, due to the different artists, felt a bit awkward. I wish they tried to keep a relatively similar style or vibe. This game's style is pretty basic, and if someone made an oc for this game I wouldn't be able to tell from style alone. In my opinion, a visually recognizable art style goes a long way.
Audio/Sound Design
3/10 The music was quite loud at times, and felt more like a bother than something enjoyable unfortunately. Not horrible but not good.
Voice Acting
N/A No voice acting, and the game itself doesn't require it, so it doesn't affect the game whatsoever.
Story
6/10 I loved all of the characters, and they each carry a decent amount of depth. But the entire time, something felt... lacking. The game felt far too long, and yet too short at the same time. There was definently an opportunity to either go further into this universe's world, or further into each of the romance interest's lives and situation. A lot of this story just feels like pure exposition and world-building, which could've worked if they went further into it. If I had written this, I would've tried to use each route to dive deeper into one unique part of this vampire society that somehow escapes most human's attentions. Rex's could be about the clans themselves, Dom's could be about those who wish to leave the society but find themselves trapped, Isaac's would be the life of a human meddling with vampire affairs and trying to profit off it, and Luka's could delve further into how humans could fight back against the vampires. This is all hypothetical though, and for where the story stands it's... okay. I love the characters but not really the full stories themselves, as they feel incomplete. Dom's route was the only one that really made me happy.
Finishing Notes
All in all, for $5 it was definently worth the experience, but the more I played I just grew bored and frustrated. Love Dom, Rex's design is cool, the rest is... meh. I am going to play the sequel, not on steam though, so I hope it's an improvement. I'm a vampire-lover which definently carried this game for me, lol.
