While enjoyable, the main aspect of this game is very basic programming of production chains and moving the required resources between areas with extremely limited inventory. Firstly, the controls feel like you are constantly trying to wrestle the game into submission. It took me a long time to get used to them and it is still counter-intuitive. Its very easy to wreck your entire setup by accidentally selecting the wrong bot. I tried controller but had to go back to mouse and keyboard due to the precision required in most instances. There is no auto run or toggle run options which leaves you holding down the run button...basic QOL things like this are just missing from the game. QOL items seem to be the difficulty part of this game. Most game information is provided during loading screens (which you see often as there are plenty of loading screens) in cartoon form with one or two words only. That's exactly how you want to explain coding to those with little experience! The gameplay gets you to fill out orders that feel like untangling a ball of fishing line. There is no way to store goods, like making a box on the ground? NOPE. You get a max of 6 limited containers that stay with your ship. It makes the entire game a pain in the rear for no reason other than it would be too easy if you could build a freaking loot box. I play games for fun. This was more like doing chores with tools made of Lego.
Rebots is an automation game without a reason to automate. I love the art style, but there's little substance behind that. Missions only require a few resources and it's faster to craft these resources yourself over setting up the automation. The large endgame structures serve literally no purpose. There were only about 3 missions that required actual terraforming. The game feels like it was cut short just before the half-way point. It would have been fun if it focused more on the terraforming and went into more depth/complexity.
兴许机器人线路连上了,我脑子短路了。 我玩不转这游戏,开发组加油。 ⣿⣿⣿⠟⠛⠛⠻⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡟⢋⣩⣉⢻ ⣿⣿⣿⠀⣿⣶⣕⣈⠹⠿⠿⠿⠿⠟⠛⣛⢋⣰⠣⣿⣿⠀⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⡀⣿⣿⣿⣧⢻⣿⣶⣷⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠿⠶⡝⠀⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣷⠘⣿⣿⣿⢏⣿⣿⣋⣀⣈⣻⣿⣿⣷⣤⣤⣿⡐⢿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣆⢩⣝⣫⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⡟⠿⠿⠦⠀⠸⠿⣻⣿⡄⢻ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡄⢻⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣶⣶⣾⣿⣿⣿⣿⠇⣼ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡄⢿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡟⣰ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠇⣼⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⢀⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠏⢰⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⢸⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⣿⠟⣰⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⠀⣿ ⣿⣿⣿⠋⣴⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⣿⡄⣿
Rebots is the chillest, cutest factory game around! Rebots stands out from the crowd with it's unique automation mechanics. Instead of conveyor belts, you have robots! It's so fun to watch your army of little yellow robots go to work. It's like a little ant colony! I've never played a game quite like Rebots. Aside from the core automation mechanics, this game has so much going on! It has tons of cute NPCs, quirky humor, hilarious writing, satisfying progression, hours of exploration, collectables, and quests all wrapped up in a unique sci-fi setting!
It has some cute ideas, but seems really unintuitive and aimless. Another one of those games where you spend most of the time asking "What am I supposed to do to accomplish this?" instead of "How can I accomplish this?" The controls don't make a lot of sense either. Want to return to this at a later point if some QOL gets added.
The interface for setting up the bots is *horrendous*. It's clunky and painful. But the reason I'm leaving a negative is that the game, so far, is more of a farming game than automation. But even then, you only farm for a short time, and then that quest is done and there's no real point to that asteroid any more. Shipping things between asteroids is tedious. You can set up bots, but it'd probably be as quick to do it yourself as set up the bots. Especially if they accidentally start grabbing other things from the ground and you need even more bots to sort the items. It's simultaneously a bad automation game, a bad farming game, and a bad quest-based game. I hope they figure out how to fix all that in the future, but it seems like a problem inherent in the design.
I really like this game for it's quirky way of tickling the optimization part of my brain just right. Going from task to task, you start by creating basic production chains, which transitions very well into more complex, almost algorithm like cycles using the adorable robots. Although I am not a mouse and keyboard player, the commands are pretty intuitive after learning them for a couple of hours. Great move also to make the full version free to play the weekend before release, at least it worked pretty well on me!
最後までやりました。ロボットがスタックする、ロボットの挙動がおかしい、ロボットの行列を解消する手段がない、そのためディスパッチャーの用途がないという欠点が目立ちました。通常の工業系を楽しみたい方にはおすすめしません。
First off, the art style is really cute. Second, it's a nice change of pace from most automation games. It's not as 'thinky' as some of the others, factorio comes to mind, not saying I don't enjoy those games. It's a welcomed change.
