In Rebellion: The Beginning, the first part of AGHAMUS's masterpiece and his first title (which unfortunately will never see its conclusion as the developer, on June 15, 2025, apparently cancelled the third part of the work "because it's one of the worst games by all statistics"), we play the role of Carl, an athletic lecturer of Roman history at Oxford and a rugby halfback, but above all a linguist specializing in the Oscan-Greek-Latin dialect, a common language in the Capua area during the late Roman Republic.
And it's precisely here that we find him at the beginning of our story, in an ancient, unexplored temple in the province of Caserta, belonging to an unidentified archaic cult, where he and his wife Clara (name revealed in the second part) are investigating the mysterious disappearance of an archaeologist, a colleague of her mentor, which occurred 30 years earlier. The professor's story implies that the inexplicable disappearance occurred following a sexual encounter between the archaeologist and his assistant near a statue of the goddess of lust, so we'll have to "get to work" right away!
But the real adventure begins now. Inexplicably, we find ourselves catapulted back to the times of the late Roman Republic, separated from our wife, seen as barbarians, and caught naked and without permission in the Sancta Sanctorum of the temple, miraculously escaping death, we are imprisoned as slaves for the arena, forced to fight alongside gladiators.
Will luck continue to smile on our hero? Will it enable him to survive in a hostile and unfamiliar world, and perhaps even allow him to regain his freedom, earn a position, and maybe even grant him a way back home?
It is a relatively short multiple-choice visual novel in which the decisions concern which scenes you will see. In fact, given the era and the status we hold, there is a certain amount of free love ([spoiler]free in a manner of speaking, since we are slaves[/spoiler]) among everyone, and this should always be kept in mind because it is part of the setting. If you don't like it, it's probably best to skip this title. Furthermore, for this same reason, you are sometimes asked whether or not you want to witness certain violent episodes.
Technically, we have some very well-made models, with a plethora of hotties that maybe are somewhat unusual for Roman times, but that's fine. The animations in the scenes are well done, as are the moans that sound them, while the entire work is accompanied by a beautiful, distinctive and appropriate soundtrack. It should be also noted that the scenes in the gallery are played without dialogue, so, to get the context, saves made at the appropriate time are needed.
[spoiler]Personal note: the best girl here for me is Achillea, who appears like a bolt from the blue and immediately wins everyone's affection and admiration. Despite her tragic, premature passing, she outshines both the spectacular Venus and the gorgeous Philomena, albeit relatively narrowly, but the horny Seka and Lucretia are also close behind. Next in line are our Wife Clara, Alpha, and the Healer.
Honorable mentions include the Priestess, Amazonia, who unfortunately falls immediately in the arena and does not even give us time to get to know her, Hadriana, Oenomaus with the hair from the tale of his past, Camilla and a conspicuous number of nameless slaves both beautiful and unqualified as such.[/spoiler]

In Rebellion: The Beginning, prima parte del capolavoro di AGHAMUS nonché suo primo titolo (che purtroppo non vedrà mai la sua conclusione in quanto lo sviluppatore, il 15 giugno 2025, ha apparentemente cancellato la terza parte dell'opera "perché è uno dei peggiori giochi secondo tutte le statistiche"), vestiremo i panni di Carl, un atletico docente di storia romana a Oxford, mediano di rugby, ma soprattutto un linguista specializzato nel dialetto osco-greco-latino, idioma comune nella zona di Capua nel tardo periodo repubblicano dell'epoca romana.
Ed è proprio qui che si trova all'inizio della nostra storia, in un antico tempio inesplorato nella provincia di Caserta, appartenente ad un culto arcaico non identificato dove lui e sua moglie Clara (nome rivelato nella seconda parte) stanno indagando sulla misteriosa scomparsa di un archeologo, collega del mentore di lei, avvenuta 30 anni prima. Il racconto del professore implica che l'inesplicabile sparizione sia avvenuta in seguito ad una copula tra l'archeologo e la sua assistente nei pressi di statua della dea della lussuria, pertanto ci sarà da darsi subito "da fare"!
Ma la vera avventura comincia adesso, inspiegabilmente infatti ci ritroveremo catapultati ai tempi della tarda Repubblica romana, separati da nostra moglie, visti come un barbaro e colti nel Sancta Sanctorum del tempio nudi e senza permesso, riuscendo per miracolo a sfuggire alla morte, ma venendo però imprigionati come schiavi per l'arena a combattere insieme ai gladiatori.
La buona stella continuerà a sorridere al nostro eroe? A farlo sopravvivere in un mondo ostile e sconosciuto, e magari a fargli riscattare la sua libertà, a guadagnarsi una posizione e, forse, a concedergli addirittura una via per il ritorno a casa?
Si tratta di una visual novel a scelta multipla relativamente breve nella quale le decisioni riguardano quali scene si andranno a vedere, infatti, vista l'epoca e lo status che ricopriamo, vige un certo amore libero ([spoiler] libero si fa per dire, visto che siamo schiavi[/spoiler]) un po' tra tutti e questo va sempre tenuto a mente perché è parte dell'ambientazione e se non piace probabilmente è meglio lasciare perdere il titolo. Inoltre, sempre per questo motivo, viene talvolta chiesto se si vuole assistere o meno a determinati episodi cruenti.
Tecnicamente abbiamo dei modelli assai ben fatti, con una pletora di figoni che ha dell'inusuale per essere in epoca romana, ma va bene lo stesso. Le animazioni delle scene sono ben realizzate, così come i gemiti che le accompagnano, mentre a tutta l'opera fa da sottofondo una bella colonna sonora caratteristica e appropriata. Va però notato che, nella galleria, le scene vengono riprodotte senza i dialoghi, pertanto il contesto è recuperabile solo avvalendosi di salvataggi fatti al momento opportuno.
[spoiler]Nota personale: la best girl qui per me è Achillea che appare come un fulmine a ciel sereno e conquista subito podio e simpatia di tutti. Nonostante la sua tragica dipartita prematura, distanzia, seppur relativamente di poco, sia la spettacolare Venus che la procace Philomena, ma vicine sono anche quell'infoiata di Seka e Lucretia. A seguire ci metterei nostra moglie Clara, Alpha e la guaritrice.
Come menzione d'onore non posso non citare la Sacerdotessa, Amazonia, che purtroppo cade subito nell'arena e non ci lascia neanche il tempo di conoscerla, Hadriana, Oenomaus coi capelli del racconto del suo passato, Camilla e una cospicua quantità di schiave senza nome sia belle che non qualificate come tali.[/spoiler]
