About
Reaper Actual is an Open-World Persistent Shooter where players deploy into the field as Reapers (Tier 1 Operators) to engage in fast-paced FPS combat mixed with the persistence of an MMORPG. On the Island of Marova, players also have Bases which act as their home base for every deployment and extraction.

Players can use their Base to brief & restock before they venture out on missions for and against the 5 NPC Factions that occupy Marova's infrastructure, as they acquire gear and level their Reaper, weapons, and gadgets.

As you complete missions, you're likely to encounter other players as hundreds deploy across the island to engage in PvPvE battles for supremacy. Each deployment, make sure you are always looking over your shoulder for whoever may be ready to take a shot.

With Air, Land, and Sea vehicles (coming soon) at their disposal, any Reaper can find themselves in one of Marova's 5 different biomes with missions ranging from intense HVT missions to collecting scarce resources needed for a deep crafting system.

I've logged over 50 hours in Reaper Actual since its Alpha Foundation release on May 29, 2026. Going into the game, I understood that this was an early alpha and not a finished product. I also listened to John Smedley discuss his vision for the game and his desire for the community to actively help shape its development. My confidence in the project comes from past experiences with successful games that Smedley helped lead. I played Planetside in 2003 before the Aftershock expansion and spent countless hours in Planetside 2, both developed by Sony Online Entertainment. Those experiences gave me a good understanding of the scale and ambition that can come from projects under his leadership. Upon entering Marova for the first time, my overall impression was very positive. The core mechanics are easy to learn for anyone familiar with FPS games, making it accessible without sacrificing depth. Visually, the game is impressive, with detailed environments and a strong sense of atmosphere that helps bring the world to life. While the concept of combining PvE NPC encounters with PvP player interactions is not entirely new, Reaper Actual executes it in a way that feels engaging and dynamic. The constant tension between environmental threats and the possibility of encountering other players creates memorable moments and keeps every session interesting. Most importantly, despite being in alpha, I've already had many enjoyable and successful gameplay sessions. There are certainly areas that need refinement—as expected with a game at this stage of development—but the foundation is solid. The developers appear committed to listening to player feedback, and that gives me confidence in the game's future. If you're interested in getting involved with a game during its formative stages and helping shape its direction, Reaper Actual is worth checking out. Based on my experience so far, the project shows a great deal of promise.
I played at launch and it was a bit of a hot mess. Tried it again today with a buddy and we had a lot of fun. I played a lot of PlanetSide and PS2 and remember how Star Wars: Galaxies tripped too. The fact is, I like the game and they have already done three pretty solid patches in the first couple weeks. The servers are (more) stable, with some bugs still, but this is Early Access and I signed up for it when I dropped my $20. I'll keep checking the game and am looking forward to the vehicles. Don't get scared off by the number of negative reviews in the first week. It has already come a long way and is worth a look.
The guys running this company know what they are doing. I have faith that this product will continue to tighten up as it progresses through early access. If you are looking for a finished product, don't get involved. If you want to interact with a group of devs and help them shape the game, jump on board and enjoy the roller coaster ride.
I myself have been game testing for decades now, that includes testing for AAA game publishers as well as indie developers and solo devs alike. Now going into Reaper Actual with an open mind, knowing that it is still in active development, I actually really enjoyed the gameplay. The game is still in alpha, although it has been released on Steam as early access. Even though my graphics card (Geforce RTX 2080 Super) is below the minimum requirements, I was still able to play at around 50-60fps. I did need to set the graphics to low though, to make it work. Which was not an overall issue, as the game still looked good. As mentioned going into the game with an open mind from having been a game tester, I expected issues, bugs, glitches, none of which were game-breaking but I expected them. Reaper Actual has a good foundation to become a really good game in the future and I will be keeping an eye on it as the developers continue to update the game. Would I recommend this game? Yes if you come in with an open mind and know that you may find different problems that need addressing. That is also why games release into early access, so the players can help shape the development of the games they're playing. Report the bugs, glitches and issues to the developers, it is the only way they're going to be able to move forward with development. You never know, you might even end up in the credits for the game you helped test ;)
I have hope in this game.
Been having a good time so far it feels different from the usual match-based shooter. It's Early Access and a little rough around the edges but there's already a solid foundation here. I've had fun exploring the map so far. One random encounter ended with both of us panic killing each other at the same time which was honestly pretty funny I wasn't even mad. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
I checked it out to see if what they are saying is true in the town hall videos and they are fixing the issues they had at launch. Not having issues with connecting most of the time, but they have started to let people know in-game when the servers are going down for maintenance. Probably still not for everyone, Hoping to earn a badge at some point so I can say I was here in the beginning. I will say, it was awesome to get a 5 slot weapon and a blueprint (for the pistol) in a single run. Now I need to find more crafting materials, so gun disassembly is my next focus.
Absolute TRASH!!!
its early but some key systems are already in place including the world map. my hope is they will continue to iterate at a decent pace / cadence as the dev team is active and The Smed is very driven. I'm a big fan of persistent worlds and MMOs so i appreciate anything trying a fresh new take on this... think arc raiders with a single MMO style world map. Love from a longtime EQ player circa '99 x
I spent a few hours running around and killing/looting/extracting, the gunplay is fun, and the double click to loot removes a lot of the tedious, unfun elements I relate with extraction / looter shooters. The team behind the game has shipped a number of bangers in the past and I expect this to be another on the list.
