The beautiful remasterised & extended version of my all-time preferred game, that I use to replay regularly with my whole family, since 1994! Was the best-selling video game over all genres during the 90's, as it has set the top standards in graphics, sounds, music, well-embedded and difficulty-balanced puzzles, serving passionating stories. What a peaceful and immersive game to start the Myst saga. Clearly a must-have, I say!
I think this was the first game I ever played. Still come back to it 20 years later lol. I like the updated graphics over the masterpiece edition, but would recommend the most recent edition for best graphics
While this might've been technically impressive for the 1990s, this remaster doesn't help bring it to par. I don't get why this is rated so positively. This game lacks basic intuitive controls. I've glitched out of the map twice, and some of the movement feels unnatural enough it actually dissuaded me from the proper answer. Not because I was incorrect, but because either clunky movement or controls screwed me up. The puzzles were mediocre to good. I finished the game, got most of the endings. Slight spoilers below in relation to potential hiccups a player may experience, but may be useful to avoid frustration. I had to learn the hard way that you need to manually close doors to elevators, which left me stuck for at least half an hour. In particular, there is a tree in the game that demonstrates that you can put a wall while moving upward. Yet in several locations where they could have just auto-shut the door, you manually have to shut the door without puzzle purpose. Further more, there was a particular spiral stair case that looks like it could be 'folded up'. As such, when I tried to move forward and got stopped, I thought I needed to 'drop the stairs', only to again get stuck for half an hour. The 'holding click' mechanic randomly within some of the puzzles was also unintuitive. With no real indicator that it's an option, it feels like the feedback is poor that when I figured it out, I felt scammed. This happens at least twice in the game.
A classic masterpiece, if a bit short. I 100%'d it in just over 7 hours, but it was a lot of fun. Definitely the type of game to get on sale, but also the type of game you don't want to pass up if you see it at a good price!
Great game that is beautifully modernized. It's a great puzzle game with different endings. Walking around the islands in real time completely changes the atmosphere, especially the weather and lighting dynamics. It's well optimized and should run with almost anything. The only real downside is that interacting can feel quite clunky, and a few sound-based puzzles are a bit hard to get.
Myst ist einfach cool
A must play!
This is exactly what Myst should have been when it was released. It was too ahead of its time the hardware couldn't handle it. It is wonderful to go back and see everything in a new way.
Love this game, the nostalgia is awesome lol
Not played since the 90's but it still reigns supreme. Who needs beasts and shooting! Give your brain a treat and get lost in this fantastic world
