Reviews
As of this writing, I've played for * checks watch * 34 minutes.. Not much time. But so far, I've enjoyed my time. Plus I [strike]know the developer[/strike] follow one of the devs on Twitter, and he followed me back and liked a couple of my tweets, so my review is biased, but whatever, I'll recommend this game. TL;DR I recommend this game; it's fun. It's mostly polished, but also, still feels like an Early Access game (which is fine for now; I am writing this review 5 days after release). I am banking on updates to improve what is already a fun RC racer. The highlights: - Overall, the game is fun to play. Full stop. - This game captures the feel of RC trucks pretty well. Once you get the hang of accelerator/brake application, the RC simulation feels satisfying. I do wish the trucks could pop a wheelie like RC trucks can do in real life though (like, when you gain some speed in reverse, then quickly pull the trigger to drive forward) ;) - I've been playing against easy AI - that makes for a surprisingly relaxing experience. If you're looking for more intense action, you might get it by increasing the difficulty. But I'm too old for that ish.. - The track design is interesting (including scenery outside the race course itself), and the variety is fun. - Truth told, I've only used one truck; I can't speak to the variety of vehicles just yet. Stuff that can be improved: - Camera angles. Caveats here: I only played in VR; I can't speak for non-VR. The VR view is meant to simulate the view you'd have if you were racing at a track, i.e. you stand in one spot; the camera is "first-person" from the perspective of you, the RC driver. The view does feel authentic to the experience of racing a real RC car at a park/track (or even if you've only watched YouTube videos of other people racing RC cars at a park/track). But sometimes track features or other trucks can block your view of your own truck. There is no follow cam or "dashboard" (or vehicle-mounted) cam. I'd like to see additional angles (the "racing game standards") added. - The respawn button - There's a button to respawn your truck, which is necessary if you roll over or go way off track or something. But the respawn button doesn't discriminate. "More polished" racers limit respawns to situations where respawning actually makes sense. This isn't a dealbreaker by any stretch, but if you play a lot of racing games, you'll notice this behavior. But overall, RC Rush is an enjoyable game. Should you buy it right now, in Early Access? My biased answer is yes, you should :)
It is a good one
This is one of those rare occasions where I can simply say "Product as Advertised." It's an RC driving and racing game, no more, no less. You get what you expect to get: races, free roam, cars and tracks locked behind progression gates, all the stuff of any racing game out there, just with RC cars instead. The driving physics feels very much like an RC toy (as it should) and though there is a "cockpit view", it's deliberately designed to appear like a small camera mounted on the roof (fun). My only minor gripes: 1. You can turn off the cheap music but you can't turn off the narrator's vocal commentary, which is infrequent but nevertheless grating. 2. The UI is both unnecessarily complex and very often a bit buggy, making it impossible to navigate using a standard X-box controller. Often I have to put the controller down and use the mouse to click on certain buttons.
This game rocks! just a simple lil racing game with some really fun physics. the way the tracks are designed to be viewed from one standing spot like an acutal rc track is a nice touch.
Picked this up over the weekend and I've been really enjoying it. It's a racing game with remote controlled trucks; you get to race them round a generous selection of courses. Single or multiplayer although I haven't tried the latter yet ( reviewers on steam seem to indicate that it's a hoot though). When I've played RC-style games before I've sometimes found them a bit twitchy and difficult to control (as I imagine the real thing must be until you get good at it). Here they've managed to make the game super accessible with a very well designed assist mode which lets you start playing and racing pretty much immediately whilst still letting you feel like you're actually in control and not just operating a glorified Scalextric. Of course the option is there to turn that off as genuine skills develop. Jolly good fun. Definitely OX APPROVED.
Really fun game to take you back to your childhood of racing friends or family with remote control cars :) You can play it both in VR and on desktop so you have no reason you can't play. If you like racing give it a go!
RC Rush brings back the memories as a child at christmas where you would get that RC car and subsequently spend the next 3 months to your mothers annoyance ramming this thing as hard and fast as possible at everything in the house in effort to complete a circuit. But now, my mother can't complain that it keeps getting in her way. Great Physics with vibrant tracks make this such a satisfying experience to play in VR. Unlike normal arcade racers, it is hard to understand how this feels to play in VR. Which is a shame because it is great, its intense, archaic and powerful. These little cars are modelled well and they race even better, I find myself trying to ram NPCs off the track on the last lap, but they try not to budge. Pair that with the fun music and revving of their engines makes this game a great experience for casuals and arcade racers alike. Only made more impressive when you realise this is a team of two.
Really good fun - a nice casual game to just pick up and chill. Reminded me of the DOS version of micro machines for playability (with difficulty on medium or better). Must be a good sim because it triggered my real-life coordination anxiety for RC car racing :P
Cool game for VR Fun little toy. Looks much better under the VR hood than in screenshots. So far so good! I hope they add some more tracks and maybe more options for sim to arcade gameplay. I took assists off.
