If you're able to even load it (it only sucessfully loads 1/5 times) This isn't a game. If you're an old RO fan, its like watching the fan movies made on youtube in 2006. The "gameplay" was clearly designed by someone who botted the original game. Its nothing but autoplay. I browsed the cash shop. Extortionate prices for random items. Your typical free to play money grabber with nothing going for it other than nostalgia. Hard pass.
Most of the negative reviews here just boil down to "the game is bad because it's not exactly like RO". I think judging it like that is highly flawed, so let's look at it more fairly. The combat system focused on automatic character skills on cooldown and the player's manual use of cards is actually interesting. You have to gauge the situation and decide what cards to use and when. Smart use of cards is what's going to determine your success in most fights. In theory, anyway. Unfortunately the combat system is severely hampered by the game's terrible balance. For the first several hours, the game is so braindead easy you can just leave it on auto and decimate everything. This leaves a bad first impression. From the end of Geffen's part of the game through to the end of Prontera, the difficulty is in a sweet spot where the player has to use cards smartly while not being too punished or pushed to use the gacha to gain strength. After Prontera and going into Morroc, the game then becomes excessively difficult with progress being gated by bosses with insane HP and self-healing abilities that amount to DPS checks where you aren't allowed to progress until you can kill them fast enough, even if you have no trouble surviving, thanks to every fight being on a 3 minute timer where you lose if it runs out. It took about a week to get to this point and this is where the game completely falls apart and progress slows to a crawl, with each following story boss amounting to roughly a week of grinding daily quests and general character strengthening to clear. The story is actually reasonably interesting, with Perr and Rina as the two primary characters playing off each other well, and mystery building up about Perr's role in the world. Rina's penchant for violence is sometimes irritating but for the most part characters are entertaining, and when it comes to the world it's clear the writers had a lot of love for the original game, with scenes like Perr being overwhelmed by emotion on reaching Prontera, feeling like he had come home. Unfortunately, side quests are all incredibly simple affairs with zero depth or consequence in their writing and are just there to pad out the play time. Worst of all is that after the story quest where the player beats Maya, the story goes from being competently edited in English to being machine translated garbage where you have to spend your time in each cutscene trying to figure out what this nonsense is even trying to say, so all appeal of the story completely disappears, which is incredibly disappointing. The gacha is reasonable. There are two types of gacha, the card gacha where you get new cards and dupes give you currency to upgrade them, and the soul stone gacha where you get character upgrade currency and a low chance to get soul weapons that unlock a character's fourth and generally strongest skill. Both of these depend on RNG and are equally important for strengthening your characters. Soul weapons can be gained in a few other ways, most notably grinding one daily mission for roughly 40 days to get enough currency to redeem one. The game gives you an immense amount of gacha currency through the story and opening chests found through the world, but comparatively very little on a daily basis, so I imagine that over a long period the resources would dry up and the game's heavy pushes for monetisation would become more tempting instead of being laughable for how stupidly overpriced they are. Events are very simple, they just amount to doing the same daily quests every day for the duration. One type of event adds a new character to recruit with about 10 minutes worth of relevant story, the other type doesn't. That's about it. It started off promising but the longer you play the more the bad balance ruins the experience, and the publisher cheaping out and machine translating the story after a point is just an insult to everyone who was interested in it before then. This game could've been a great tie-in to RO if it wasn't so mishandled.

Played this game for over a week and spent a lot of money currently rank 2 in pvp. Probably will not recommend this game to most people out there. For f2p players: Story is interesting. If you are f2p and you love Ragnarok you will probably enjoy the game until you hit around level 40. Then you will either have to spend some money to make your progress or you can do daily to make at least 6 times slower than someone who spend gems on daily quests. In order to beat level 50+ MVP and do late game content to farm material for endgame gear you will probably need a bunch of 5 stars gold and rainbow cards, which then again good luck with that if you are f2p. For whales: The store is a joke. Do not trust any percentage label they put on their item (e.g. 200%, 250%, 300%) It is not rocket science to do the Math and here is an example. Weekly Card Package 250% $19.99 you get 625 gem and 20 card draw ticket Monthly Card Package 300%(???) $9.99 you get 300 gem and 10 card draw ticket so buying 2 monthly card package will give you less but the percentage label tells the otherwise, so you have to do your own Math to figure out which one is the actual better deal. (Can we report this as false advertising?) It is also lack of description on their items in the shop. There is something call "Mission Completion Ticket" that you can buy but it actually doesn't do anything to your quest or Guide MISSION. Support: The support for this game is bad. I sent a ticket in English and get a reply in some other language that I found out it is Portuguese after google translate. I was asking for a refund on the "Mission Completion Ticket Package" I bought because it does nothing to me but they replied "when requesting the chargeback, the account informed will be permanently blocked." This is probably a scam.
Oh I've seen this on my steam page and thought "wow rangnarok online, I played this game when i was still a young teenager" But after installing it and hearing the nice music i still had in memories, I realized this game is totaly different. 5 Minutes in to i got several pop ups to purchase mircotransactions and when I've seen those prices I was totaly shocked. Well I still gave it a try but the Gamepaly been super terrible. And somehow always if i buy something some more is missing. So I need to buy again ... Well I lost 200 dollar in 5 minute - then i did uninstasll it. Can't recommend, it feels worse than mobile game..
This is a mobile gacha game with builtin auto play attempting to milk nostalgia by using Ragnarok Online assets.
Just play it for the story and if you're willing to spend some money to make your progress easy. Overall it's a mediocre gacha game that milks on your nostalgia for the Ragnarok Online world.

Yes, this Ragnarok is like Lost Memories, it feels nostalgic playing it but at the same time it's memories that is lost a decade and few years ago, I only remember the bad things that happened with the other players, and how hard the game was, so only the good memories are lost while the bad one isn't... The locations looks the same as the old Ragnarok that we played in ancient times but they were smaller size than the original I like the auto play since I'm lazy, so it's very convenient, my old times clicking on the monsters was enough, don't want to click anymore orz
As a former European Ragnarok Online player, I thought I would give this a try, regardless of the bad reviews. However, it didn't take long for me to quit and uninstall it again. Let me explain why. For anyone who ever played Ragnarok Online, the best server has always been iRO, the server that by name stated to be international, but was actually American. This became clear with the GDPR and the ban of all European players. It's when Ragnarok Online died, as there was no true alternative for European players. The mixture of official German, French and Russian servers that has ended with the current rule of Innova/4Game being the cause for this. Bad management and even more so, political reasons to stay clear from the "European" server, which is plain Russian. Since this moment, there has been a clear focus of Gravity to bring out spin-off alternatives, as they didn't want to just take back their IP and create a fully international server. This is an example of this. All of them have the same problem, they are free-to-play games with a cash-grab model. For anyone who has ever played Ragnarok Online, this is a clear no-no. The reason being that on Ragnarok Online, there was a subscription model at first, and it relied on cash shop afterwards, but that cash shop didn't give insane benefits or even required you to buy anything. They were helpful benefits for lower players, and at times had benefits for top players as well, but these rewards could be bought with ingame currency (zeny) from player shops. It was possible to be truly free to play. That's the first problem of this game, the fact that you will need to pay to really play it effectively. Another problem for this game is that this will primarily be interesting to former Ragnarok Online players, but this game doesn't offer a similar experience at all. Most players on Ragnarok Online never really read all the dialogue of NPCs. The reasons why the game was so good were the graphics, the music, and far more important than that the gameplay. Especially War of Emperium has always been great, as it's still the best guild versus guild experience in any MMORPG released, even to this day. However, also the customization, as you could make your character any way you wanted, it wasn't a 1-way-for-all character system. Instantly, I can see this game lacks at least the customization. However, it's also too dialogue-heavy. Starting out, I got bored by the chat, as it didn't really make sense. And beyond that, it's the same old-story as so many other game uses. It goes against what Ragnarok has always been about. And that leaves 2 other parts, which I haven't been able to experience, but the fact this game is lowly rated here on Steam makes me doubt it will be good. Which are the economy and community. The reality is that these were the 2 strongest parts of Ragnarok Online, as we all watched the videos shared by players on YouTube and other websites. In all honesty, I would rather see an international Ragnarok Online server by Gravity than this nonsense... So sad to see the Ragnarok Online IP getting destroyed by this crap...
One of the most memorable games I played since I was a child. Although that it may look like a P2W game, this is still better in my own opinion if you are looking for the old classic Ragnarok Online feeling than playing the latest versions of Ragnarok Online versions.
