i enjoyed like 70% of my time in this game, but there is pretty much no reason i would ever recommend this to anybody weird age gap in one of the relationships + after 24 hours of story the ending is just completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and makes you feel like it was all just a waste of time
不亚于看了五集走进科学日本民俗版 巧克力味的夹心狗屎
Imagine you go out on a date with someone and you're getting along well at the meal. At some point during that during that meal, you go to the bathroom for a moment only to find out later that your date has left the building. Instead, on the table, you see a note that says "F*** Y** LOSER. PAY FOR THE MEAL YOURSELF." This is exactly how I felt after finishing this VN (that is, I was the LOSER). No joke - it starts off really well. We're introduced into a weird village will all sorts of esoteric religious beliefs and rituals. As you get drawn into this village with its weird inhabitants, you're introduced to the idea of taking part in a "Feast" related to those religious beliefs. These "Feasts" are just an excuse to play extended games of Werewolf, but they work because it centers around mind games and psychological manipulation. They're so good in places that it's easy to lose track of time watching what happens. There are promises of a much deeper mystery at work here as well. Then you get to the final part and the writers just kind of...stopped caring. Or, they just gave up. They even have lines in the writing featuring characters wondering about how absurd it all sounds. Yes, I know, some people say that you can get the answers for your questions if you read one of the "Extra" sections or spend time with the game in "Revelation Mode," but that's cheating in my mind. You shouldn't have to create 10-15 hours of extra content to explain away plot holes with chuunibyou *hit. The original story should've not had those issues to begin with. In short, the first 80% of this is very solid (even brilliant) suspense/mystery writing, but the final 20% is so insulting to the reader that I can't recommend it simply because I felt I was getting shortchanged. If you liked this story, I'd recommend just reading "Higurashi" instead since some of those episodes actually have some solid scenarios and they are occasional denpa classics (even though some episodes are better than others). I think this, ultimately, is just like a watered down "Higurashi" given some of the story similarities.
As other reviews have pointed out, the game is very linear. There are multiple 'endings', but you will do them in a predefined order. The story is interesting and engaging for the most part. The ending isn't as bad as people make it out to be. That said, you may have to suspend your disbelief a little bit. I wouldn't say to get this game at full price, but right now the sale price at $12 is worth IMO Nosato might just be my favorite character besides Haruaki. Wish he could've had a whole route like that one review said XD
Raging Loop is kinda like the Neon White of Visual Novels. It's super weird, edgy, and kinda freaky at times, and I just find that so charming. It's a pretty lengthy visual novel, taking me about 40 hours to reach the true ending. There are highs, there are lows. I think the game does a fantastic job of presenting interesting Japanese folklore, as well as tackling heavy topics like generational and religious trauma very well. I found every character compelling in their own quirky way, especially when the game gives each character their moment in the spotlight. I think that everyone can agree that there's one arc of the story that felt...bad? Uncomfortable? A bit weak? However you want to define it, I think that even through that part of the story, it's amazing. If you want a time-loop game of werewolf with a hint of trauma in it, this is perfect for you! Even if it's not, I'd say give it a shot! (The price of $29.99 IS a bit steep though, so I'd suggest snag it on a sale).
This game was so good for about 4 chapters, then I just started getting pissed off. Especially when the MC just randomly started getting with a 15 year old girl in chapters 5 and 6. What the ♥♥♥♥ dude. Everyone talks about how the ending ruined it for them but I hadn't even heard about that ♥♥♥♥. Not even gonna talk about how much of a cop out the ending was, this plot point pissed me off so much. Before some weirdo starts saying that its because he was meant to be bad in those chapters and is meant to be seen negatively, I just want to point out that no where in the story was he considered negatively for wanting to be with this child. The grandfather didnt acknowledge it when he said he wanted to date his FIFTEEN YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER, and other cast members referred to his love as passionate. Saw some freaks on years old reddit threads i looked at after playing use that horrible excuse uncontested.
