Wonderfull game, it's close to beat saber with more cardio, and i really love the music style !
This game is a beat saber like one, but I honestly find it really cool. The variety of weapons makes every round interesting and exciting. And it's the first game of this genre, in which I never had a problem with which hand I had to use against which enemy. The only confusing part was the block. In Other slasher games I played you had to block the line indicator parallel to it's direction, but In this one you had to follow it. Would be good if it was a setting you could change.
Good game, i would describe it as combat-focused Beat Saber. It has a decent campain with interesting endbosses. There are different weapons which introduce more variety in the gameplay. It's a bit too difficult to play with a cable headset when it gets faster in the 360 degree level parts of the campaign, I stopped playing after beating the first endboss because of this (I played with a MeganeX Superlight 8K). I'll revisit the game another day with a wireless headset.
Received this game for free as part of a playtest. A brutal take on the rhythm game genre. You will get close and personal with the enemy while slashing and smashing through the content of this game. Make sure you have plenty of room to play, since this game uses a 180-degree play area and more vertical space than most other games in this category. It can get overwhelming quickly, like a game of Doom where everyone is coming to get you. This game has good potential and takes a new approach to the Beat Saber genre. It is certainly worth a try if you are not afraid of people coming to slash you down.
Однозначный ТОП. Одна из тех игр, которая зацепила в плане игра+тренировка. Надеюсь ее не забросят. У кого ВР обязательно стоит попробовать.
received free code for testing, but will be buying on psvr2 next year. pretty fun rhythm game, certainly a more unique and physical take on the genre than I've seen. not a TON of content yet, but what's here is fun and certainly challenging enough that even if you can sprint through the main campaign in an hour or so, beating it all and getting high accuracy/force/score ranks as well as beating it on higher difficulties will definitely take awhile longer. be prepared to create some space as it does feature a 360 degree playing area without any sort of snap or smooth turning. hit detection was pretty good, tho not perfect.
I playtested this game. This game is a rhythm driven combat game. Not unlike Beat Saber, but with you fighting for your life against enemies rushing in from every direction. Sci-fi and tech aesthetic, as well as some pretty decent music that fits the theme. You're forced to use new weapons as you progress through the campaign, from your typical swords, to daggers/claws, to your own bare fists and two handed weapons. My only complaint to this game is that the two handed weapons, particularly the axe, were fairly tricky to use effectively due to how dissimilar the motion/rotation compared to something like Blade and Sorcery, but what I found to help is instead of having one hand palm down and the other up, have both palm down and swing largely from the hip/shoulders. Beyond that small hiccup, I quite enjoyed the game. It's a very active and movement intensive game, especially with the 360 degree gameplay. If you have an interest in rhythm games, especially combat themed, this one is hard to pass up.
I didn't enjoy Beat Saber that much, i love Pistol Whip and Until You Fall though. Looks like combat is just way more fun to me than simply cutting blocks, because Rager feels amazing to play! I can especially recommend it if you've got a wireless headset or the cable hooked safely to the ceiling, so you can experience the 360 degree fights, because these are especially fun to me. If you don't, there's a "lock combat to 180deg" option now, too For this price i feel like it's a steal, and I can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for more rhythm combat!
Rager is commonly referred to as the new Beat Saber and at first glance the mechanics do seem quite similar, as instead of flying blocks you've got a range of enemies to attack instead, but if you're expecting the gameplay to feel similar you'd be largely mistaken. Unlike almost all rhythm and even wave shooters, the enemies don't just approach from a narrow 90° area in front of you but a full 360° area around you which makes this game very physical. This was a great surprise though as 360° games are actually quite rare these days. On top of all the attacks and turning, you also have to dodge incoming walls by either stepping to the side or ducking and this is one of the main reasons why I'd class this as a cardio game. Unlike Beat Saber where the walls can easily be dodged by tilting your head, Rager constantly throws multiple walls at you right from the start, and to make it even more intense there are different wall heights which force you to squat even lower. The game starts off pretty easy but quickly becomes quite difficult as it not only throws more enemies and attacks at you but also makes you turn, duck, dodge, block and attack almost all at the same time, while also turning in every direction. Fortunately there is an enemy indicator for enemies outside of your field of view, but I still get caught off guard sometimes because there's so many things going on while I'm still trying to turn, block and attack while maintaining my bearings. Visually it can be quite overwhelming at times with all the attacks and walls thrown at you. As a rhythm gamer I thought I'd be fine but I completely underestimated how physical this game would be so I had to go back down from hard to medium difficulty sometimes. It also emphasises how much of a workout game this really is. The final double-handed weapons unlock completely changed the game for me, it's basically an adjustable Darth Maul or twin saber. If you remember the early years of Beat Saber this was a mod that completely took over the scene as it combined both sabers by physically joining your controllers together. This weapon is so much more fun and engaging because you're not slashing with each hand independently, instead both blades are connected so it feels like you're paddling or rowing a boat. Instead of swinging your arms around you've got to hold it in the middle and swing as if you're trying to elbow the enemies which feels very different to slashing. You can even adjust the challenge by either keeping your hands apart to make bigger elbow swings, or you can hold it in the middle and simply rotate with your wrists. But what makes this even more satisfying is the way you block attacks with the middle of the weapon. Aside from the main campaign there’s also a new freestyle mode which allows you to use any weapon loadout across 4 levels. You can also choose to limit the field to 180° which can definitely help reduce the intensity of the game if you find the 360° range too difficult. In terms of presentation Rager has a much more cinematic and unique art style compared to most rhythm games which really pulls you into the atmosphere. You're not attacking random shapes or blocks but an army of soldiers, robots and giant machines. The music also fits the futuristic cyberpunk theme perfectly. However while the music is very fitting for the game's style and theme, it also kind of limits the musical genres you get to play. If you're expecting a strict rhythm game like Beat Saber then you may be disappointed as it's a lot more of a rhythm brawler. But if you're looking for an all-round cardio game with lenient rhythm mechanics, a variety of melee combat, a unique art style and hard hitting EDM music then you'll definitely enjoy Rager.
