Amazing free card game! Inspired by Aztec culture, the art and atmosphere are beautiful and unique. The game offers a lot of variety with different game modes, so it never gets boring. Even though it's single-player only, there's a lot of depth and strategy involved. You can tell the developers put real care into the design. For a free game, the quality is seriously impressive. Highly recommended if you're into card games or want to try something different!

So I think the game has some issues - very little is explained, the cards are quite small on the field so you have to memorise a lot, the keywords are not explained and the in-battle tool tips aren't great, but all that said, it's not a bad little TCG. For those from an MTG background: The gameplay is basically like this, you balance your life points (15 or more depending on your level), mana (+2 per turn capped at 10), and action points (+3 per turn, capped at 5) as resources. The battlefield allows you to play up to 3 creatures and 1 trap card (yugioh style) at once. The only other card type is spells - no non-creature permanents or modifiers as far as I've seen. Drawing cards, playing creature cards, and activating abilities cost action points - so far a flat rate of 1 AP per action, so you can play your heaviest creature on turn 1 if you draw it. Spells cost mana to cast, and trap cards seem to be free. Every creature has 2 activated abilities and one static/triggered ability. Attacking is a creature ability and attacks may be single or multiple, and be either melee or ranged which can trigger trap cards. Creatures can attack on the turn they enter, provided you have the action points, and you must clear all of your opponent's creatures before attacking the opposing player directly. Trap cards will usually prevent incoming damage completely. When attacking, you have to select a target for your attackers and you generally take no retaliation damage (that is the "thorns" passive ability). Creature health does not regenerate automatically. When your deck runs out, shuffle your discard into your deck. On the whole, it's lighter than the better known battle style TCGs, but there's enough strategy and complexity to keep things interesting. Despite this, there's also a lot of randomness. Certain cards are just lethal if you get them out early enough and battles on the campaign reward you for winning the game in 10 turns or less which should be fairly trivial as most matches end around turn 5. This works in the game's favour as you keep going for just one more match. Outside of the campaign there seems to be a lot of real-world time based resource collection which I find odd. The game is set ina city with multiple locations - some for collecting resources and some for battling. They can generally be upgraded to give better rewards. You can earn cards of common, rare, and legendary rarity in fourways: (1) as a reward for winning battles or reaching objectives, (2) by paying gems (which you can earn in game) to buy booster packs, (3) every day 4 cards are on offer in the market place in exchange for gems, or (4) by earning or collecting shards. 20 shards of a given rariry can be combined to produce one random card of that rarity. When you already have a card, it begins at level 1. You level up your cards by collecting additional copies and paying gold (which you earn in game). 1 additional copy to get to level 2, then 3 further copies, then 5, then 8 to get to level 5 meaning you need to find/buy a total of 18 copies of a card to get to level 5 which is the max for players (enemies can go higher). Still, it's free, and I don't see any aggressive monetisation so I'm not complaining.
This is one of those games where I wish Steam didn't require clicking yes/no for recommend because I think it REALLY depends on just how into cards games you are. I'd only recommend it to some people but clicking no just feels wrong when I don't think it's bad. Anyways onto the review. Honestly the main reason I picked this game up was due to the focus on Aztec gods because I like when games focus on less popular pantheons. It's a fairly fast paced cars game where single player matches don't usually go any longer than 7 or so rounds. There's less space to play cards than other similar games such as Yugioh and you can only have one trap set up at a time which forces urgency and turn by turn mix ups. The mechanics are more simplistic for better and for worse than other games. For example, there won't e any 15 minute long turns because your opponent is fusion 50 billion cards that chain together, but at the same time the simplicity does result in slight repetitiveness since desirable decks tend to fit more basic archetypes. I played the story mode for about an hour which got a little stale eventually but there's definitely a lot of content to dig through if that's your sort of thing. Probably not a game I'd dedicate much more time to but for what it is, I think it offers brief enjoyment which is to say I think it's solid but nothing too noteworthy. Just a simple card game with enough content to dig through and heck it's free so no worried even if someone doesn't end up enjoying it. My biggest complaint, with the Steam version at least, is the square screen layout which makes it obvious it was more so intended for mobile than PC. Cards feel quite small too and text feels hard to read sometimes even when clicking on cards to enhance. For something that aims for more simplicity, I do think this is something that should be worked on to make the PC version feel more standardized.
