Quatros Origins is a block puzzle game that tries to reconnect with the good old days where classic arcade games were easy to play, but hard to master!

Amazingly, makes Tetris interesting again. Surprisingly good and different.
Quatros Origins
Nota: 3,5/10
don't be deceived by the trailer (or maybe only I got it wrong) it's not TETRIS in 3D you neither build castle walls, nor play on different dimensions it's just a variant in which the whole thing gets spun, so the level interlocks with what you just planted there before it turned (which can also help you not mess up your game too fast) therefore you can plan ahead if you remember the pattern of the side view, meaning it has so much potential, but: doesn't have things like T-Spin maybe it's me, but I just had a session of 27 minutes and it became interesting from lvl 16 on, before that it was just really taking way too long .. felt rather dull, if not boring even been playing Tetris since the release of Nintendo Game Boy this has so far been one of the rather dissapointing variants, shifting from the original Tetris maybe I'll try multiplayer the next time, or see if I can now skip ahead and play from lvl 10 or 15 on so let's (lemme?) give this a yes -for- now although I'd not give almost 4€ for this I guess... (got it on sale)
TL;DR Tetris on crack. It's like someone combined a rubix cube and Tetris -- you play the game normally, but on four faces of a cube that rotate with each turn. It’s good.
FULL REVIEW
The gimmicky mechanic of Quatros Origins sounds annoying as hell, but It's actually more forgiving than regular Tetris. It's as if you're playing four games at once, so you're allowed to make more mistakes and fix them up later by using the different sides. Even though I'm horrible at Tetris, this makes it a little more welcoming, so I'd say I recommend Quatros to both Tetris lovers and those who aren't fans or want an easier entry to the game. The graphics are also real clean, the music very Korobeiniki-inspired but with a trippier feel, and there are new blocks. One of which looks like a middle finger which is just wholly accurate in every respect. There's also a Fixate Mode where you can't rotate and must pray to RNJesus before playing in order to do even reasonably well. For, you know, masochists. CONSIDERATIONS I don't have too many criticisms, but I'll list anything I think you should consider before buying. [olist] [*]The new blocks are evil. They laugh in the face of joy and love. I know there aren't many ways of updating Tetris, but with a game called 'Quatros' you'd think adding 5-piece blocks would be out of the question. The cross in particular is the single greatest situational nightmare I have ever faced. If something untraditional like this turns you off, you might wanna think twice before buying. If you're open to it, though, it takes a bit of work, but you can definitely use the new pieces to your advantage. [*]The point system is heavy RNG. You have these parts within your blocks called ‘combo’ pieces or something, and they up your score for pretty much no reason. Sometimes I’ll be playing terribly but end up with a higher score thanks to these things. It’s a little infuriating, I dunno. They look rad, though. [*]The grid is pretty much invisible. I know I'm incompetent, but dang, there are too many times I made ridiculous mistakes because the grid wasn't clear enough to guide me. It looks aesthetic as heck, but it gets a bit hard to focus and line up blocks, especially when you've been playing for a while nonstop. [*]The achievement for 'Run of the Mill' is incorrect. This is less an actual con and more a heads-up, but if you care about this sort of thing, you actually need to get 25000 in Raid Mode. Good luck! [*]♥♥♥♥ Fixate Mode. [/olist] OVERALL RATING All that aside, this game converted me into one of them Tetris nerds. Glad I got it, and please, get more people to play it so the leaderboard isn't filled with newbies like me. 8/10
It's a neat idea in concept but a variety of issues ranging from no controller input remapping, unresponsiveness at higher speeds, instant piece locking, no ghost or hold and above all else just not really providing that much of a challenge (you can/have to mess up as much as you want - you'll always have at least one clean board) or reason to play it over regular ol Tetris means that this one falls really short. Maybe grab it on sale if you're still interested, but stay away otherwise. Seriously who the f*ck puts hard drop on A and rotate on triggers, why would you do something so cruel?
the game is very nice, a "new challenge" for tetris lovers, is like play 4 tetris at same time. the minimalist look and colors are very good. my impression for this game is that is very slow, the time it takes to the screen turn around take so long and became alot boring! what i miss in this game: - more options that increase the speed of the game. - infinity ( http://harddrop.com/wiki/Infinity ) - reward for tspin and all other piece spins - ghost piece - hold piece - a 3d isometric mini map from your game would be very nice and fun
It looks trippy at first, but once you get into it you realize it's just tetris with swapping back and forth between two boards (a 180 degree rotation is just mirroring). The game is a bit more forgiving than tetris because if you block yourself off on one board you can still clear the blocked lines on the other board, and it's a bit trickier to plan ahead because the boards keep swapping around, but it's really not as much of a brand new game experience as it claims to be. Also, Fixed mode doesn't preview your blocks properly.
'Tetris but more annoying' This above comment is really the most describing comment i have seen regarding this game. Said with some hint of love for it though. This is enhanced tetris where Normal mode is basically the playfield being a 4-sided thingy that rotates around to next side after each move which gives quite considerable headache if you try to be systematic about your building and not just YOLO it all. Actually yoloing it gets you far as long as you follow the basic rules of how to survive far in vanilla Tetris. Raid mode? Limited to 40 moves. Hard Mode? Well it's hard. You decide if this is worth 4.99€. It is easily worth at least something as i can say i have been entertained by the brief few minute long sessions i spent with this product every now and then in the past. Nothing mind blowing special going on here but you if you want a solid tetris that is different then here you are. Money well spent at least for me. Been a favorite on living room tv.
Leider hat die Steuerung ihre Probleme, es ist nicht wirklich möglich mehrere Aktionen schnell hintereinander zu tätigen. Grade in höhen Level ein sehr frustrierendes Problem.
