About
This isn't a traditional platformer, or a point and click. It's a choose-your-own-adventure visual novel in pixel form, where multiple playthroughs reveal multiple paths through the scenarios you encounter, which end up interacting and influencing each other!
It's a straightforwardly lovely day in Hus. It's always a lovely day in Hus. That's not suspicious at all! The bovey is grazing in the field, the faer are roaming around town causing chaos, the shadies are out preaching (they're not a cult!), and a giant stone portal to another dimension has appeared in the woods.
I hope nothing goes hideously wrong and results in an adventure.
So what's it like to play?
It's a pixelated choose your own adventure. This isn't a story you're told, it's a story your choices create. Meet characters, make choices, unfold the story.
Choices matter. Branching story paths can lead your heroes and villains to vastly different fates.
Play through multiple times, using your knowledge of past choices to unlock new endings and new secrets!
Hand crafted retro resolution pixel art in a cute style that definitely doesn't unexpectedly turn creepy. Well, it probably won't. Maybe. Actually, it might. Actually, probably will.
Not a cult.
This is the journey of Ren, a twenty-something shepardess who gets thrown into a multiversal conflict while on a fetch quest to find her lost flock. She'll have the fates of her friends in her hands, and YOU will have to help her make the difficult choices.
Will she prevail? Will anyone survive? Why does everything pseudo-mystic have Quantum in the title? These questions and more, or fewer, may or may not be answered!
Developed with BAFTA nominated writer Paul "Mr Biffo" Rose, and featuring guest writer Stephanie "Thank God For Me" Sterling.

"Instead of laying on the exposition and world building, we as the player are dropped into a world that feels lived in. Especially with a romantic relationship, instead of grabbing us by the throat and telling us that character X & Y care for each other and you should care too! They are just a couple, but get past that and they have layers." - Scott's Game Asylum.
"As a fan of narrative driven games, let me tell you, I am loving this." - Drewlusion, variety streamer.

Classic adventure game humor and soul-prodding insights come together in a beautiful mix that's mysterious and fun to explore. At this price point, it's an easy recommendation. EDIT: OK, after playing a couple more runs, the entire narrative is a ball of yarn to play with! This is wild!
Like most narrative adventures, this game features freedom of choice as its most important aspect, though I loved the fun retro art and catchy music as well, and totally appreciated the main character standing up to religious doctrine (if I wanted). A lot of supernatural – or quantum-sciencey – things happen in the story that I didn’t really understand, possibly because I didn’t see all possible scenes. But I went with the flow, laughed at the jokes, and tried to give Ren the best ending I could. And then the worst. And then something in between. The game might still hold more secrets for me, but I’m totally fine to leave the rest for completionists. It’s definitely worth playing, though, and playing more than once, as it’s a challenge to unlock the various alternative versions of the story, and often a joy to experiment. Go in with the right expectations and you’re sure to be charmed by Quantum Witch. https://adventuregamehotspot.com/review/4713/quantum-witch

I played about an hour before I gave up. While the idea of a narrative game in a retro 2D jump and run adventure sounds fun, the execution unfortunately is not. Half of the time in Quantum Witch I was running (or jumping) around, trying to find the next location were I needed to be or click on something for the story to continue. The reasons for doing so were mostly contrived, forcing you to backtrack through the same locations again and again until you find something that is different from before. The humor is... well, it is not for me. It is quite childish and on-the-nose without a hint of subtlety, going for the lowest hanging fruits rather than originality. I am also in my mid-40s and a cynic, so I may not be in the target demographic. Apparently this is a game about choices and consequences, but after an hour my impression is that whatever it is building up to could have probably been done in a 2-page choose-your-own-adventure book (or rather: leaflet). Even accounting for half an hour just running around, let's say I have only seen 25% of what is in here: are the other 75% so groundbreakingly excellent that they make up for the first impression? I do not know. Others seem to think so, as the game has 100% positive reviews so far. Personally I currently have no desire to find out and rather spend my time playing something else. I am just writing this to make sure that any reader and potential buyer is aware that my non-recommendation is based on having stopped playing, so you might want to form your own opinion. You may still want to try the demo first, though, which I should have done.
This choose your own adventure-style 2D platformer has great replay value, plenty of branching, charming pixel art, and a surprisingly catchy soundtrack. The choices you make in this game matter. For all the other characters, for the setting at large, there's something the choices you make can affect. Precision movement is the only place where there are problems, but I think precision is not required to complete the puzzles.
Very odd, extremely queer little game. Loved every second of it!
Quantum Witch might be a simple and short adventure upon first glance, but that brevity belies the depth of the narrative and messaging. Read the full review here: https://www.jetsonplaysgames.com/post/quantum-witch-review
It made me laugh frequently! I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the soundtrack. I played through about 40 waveforms I think, and then I put it down for a bit as I got stuck and didn't save in good spots. Anyway, it's obvious that NikkiJay put a lot of work into this and I appreciate it.
Best jump animation in games! And soe splendid writing too.
