On the surface, this might look like just another block matching game, kind of like Tetris but once you start playing, you quickly realize it’s way trickier than it looks. One of those easy to learn, hard to master” types, it's super addicting. The mechanics are simple but the challenge ramps up fast. Highly recommend it if you enjoy puzzle games.

This puzzle game doesn’t do anything new, but if you’re looking for flashy challenge while listening to great soundtrack, it might be worth a shot. At its heart, the gameplay is classic: drop and rotate clusters of colorful cubes, match them into blocks of the same hue, and watch them disappear. Only 2x2 (or larger) groups will break, so lining up a neat little row or column of cubes won’t cut it. Fortunately, as removed blocks let others on the top drop down, you might create new blocks and create a chain. There are two main ways to play. The survivor mode is your traditional chase for getting the highest score. And then there’s stage mode, which shakes things up with a variety of objectives: clear a set number of blocks, destroy a bigger block, or hit a combo multiplier. The further you go, the more difficult the objectives. If that’s not enough, you’ll also have to work with more colors at once and beat a stage before time runs out. Each stage unlocks the next, with trippy, space-themed backgrounds that range from stylish to slightly distracting. There are 50 stages. A few of them suffer from brightness overload, making it tough to distinguish the cubes—a real issue for players with color blindness, since there’s no accessibility option to fix it. Combos are key. Every chain reaction boosts your score and gets you closer to your goal. But drop a block that doesn’t destroy anything, and your streak breaks. To help, the game offers three limited-use powers: a bomb that clears a cluster, a swap that changes colors, and a stripe that wipes out a row or column (this power can also show up during regular blocks). Powers are handy, but scarce—you won’t get them back for free in the next stage. If you run out, you’ll have to grind a few stages and complete a mini-game to earn more. Where the game truly shines is its soundtrack. Instead of the usual generic songs, you get a few with lyrics. The downside is that in Stage Mode, levels can end before the song does, so Endless Mode becomes the better way to experience the full audio ride.

Si mezclas Lumines con Tetris, el resultado es Puzzle Dazzle. La mecánica combina lo mejor de ambos mundos: la estrategia y precisión de Tetris con el ritmo y la estética dinámica de Lumines. El gameplay se siente ágil y responsivo, algo clave en este tipo de juegos donde la fluidez lo es todo. Cada partida engancha y siempre invita a jugar "una más". La música está bien elegida y aunque las pistas se reproducen de forma aleatoria, encajan lo suficiente como para acompañar la experiencia sin distraer. No sigue el ritmo del gameplay como en Lumines, pero aporta variedad y mantiene un buen ambiente durante las partidas. El juego tiene bastante potencial, y se nota el cariño detrás del desarrollo. Agradezco a los desarrolladores haberme facilitado una clave para probarlo. Se agradecen estas propuestas frescas dentro del género. Funciona perfectamente en Linux y en Steam Deck, sin ningún tipo de problema. De hecho, me parece un juego ideal para jugar en la portátil: rápido, entretenido y fácil de retomar en cualquier momento.

If you like tetris, this game is for you. Each level seems to have it's own theme. It's super trippy and crazy. Prepare to be challenged.

The gameplay is simple, but the visuals and music are awesome! I managed to complete the arcade mode on Moderate, and some levels were super hard. I nearly rage-quit multiple times, but in the end, I pushed through.
