Puzzle Challengers

-No options whatsoever -No way of making the game windowed -Game is clearly unfinished -Artstyle rips-off Nichijou (and some of the characters, including Nano and Mai) -Very little variety -Game doesn't display properly on my 21:9 screen -Generic music -No way of pausing the game Only good thing about this game is that at least there are no Mio and Yuuko rip-offs. Thank goodness. If you're a puzzle fan or a Nichijou fan, trust me, this is not a game worth getting, even for the LOLs.

Puzzle Challengers is a blend of a couple of different kinds of minigames (Tetris ripoff, sliding puzzle ripoff, match-3 ripoff) with a high school anime club dropout MS-paint/pixel art style. It's unpolished and quite unpleasant to try playing. On the upside, it does seem to have been a sincere genuine attempt at making a game... only, badly. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The artwork here is terrible, it's a blend of old retro pixel "art" used as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics, and some of the most amateurish MS-Paint style drawings (I won't deign to call these "illustrations"). It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can do graphics properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result of these decisions. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. This is worse quality than your average Java/Flash game. Bewilderingly, the game doesn't include proper audio controls, so you can't turn off the annoying background music, you'll need to alt+tab out and stop the music using the Windows sound mixer. This is obviously not okay and it's unclear why the developers chose not to include this basic feature. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Puzzle Challengers is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. You can play all these kinds of minigames free on the web or on mobile, with higher quality. It's impossible to recommend anyone pays for this.
