push blox 2 is the more-of-the-same sequel to the first game, so my review will be very similar too. it's still sokoban, the 'push things around until everything sticks together' variety. gravity applies to certain blocks but not you, every white tile is available for movement, unless blocked. no move counter, limit or rating system, but some timing is involved. the goal is to stick all the red and blue tiles together, like in those jelly-based games, for instance. they cling to each other wherever they touch, even on the sides while falling, and disappear if all their own tiles are together. multiple blocks can be pushed, there are locks to open, conveyor belts, deadly lasers and mirrors, even a few secrets. skulls are new, they destroy not only you but red and blue blocks as well. 43 levels altogether in 2 worlds, but progression is non-linear and multiple levels are available most of the time. level 39 is the last regular one, it can be reached by completing about 75% of the game (there's a progress bar on level select). the rest are bonus and community levels, instructions for the latter in the forum. 100% unlocks the level editor, according to the patch notes anyway, I didn't get that far. it's definitely a bad idea to hide it behind such a requirement. it's not an 'explain every new mechanic' kinda game, instead it teaches through clever level design (and level names) and by letting you experiment without repercussions, like every puzzler should. that said, as a bad student I got stuck so early on (again) it wasn't even funny. so I looked up some hints here and there once more, but managed less than in the first game before giving up. the non-rebindable keyboard controls work well. wasd or arrows to move, space to 'run' (didn't expect that), backspace or 'u' or 'z' is undo, 'r' is restart. dragging with either mouse button also works, as uncomfortable as it is. too bad right click or the mouse wheel doesn't act as undo and there are no icons to click, but at least the mouse can be used in the menus. and the cursor never disappears, which is always annoying. it's worth nothing that undo works after a fail state and restart too, so resetting doesn't erase all previous progress (or non-progress). and it's for keypresses, so if you hold movement for 10 tiles, a single undo will take back all 10. settings consist of separate volumes for the mostly same acoustic guitar soundtrack and the barely noticeable effects. luckily, there isn't one for movement, that'd get annoying fast (as did the music, as much as I love guitars). graphics are functional, each level is introduced with its number and title, no on-screen mention of them after, but they're visible in the pause menu. since every level is in a smaller window within the screen, they could've been a permanent fixture. windowed mode got patched in ('f'), it makes a considerably smaller non-resizable window. it really is just a level pack for the first game, same price, same (almost) everything. it works as it should (though blocks rarely and randomly disappeared around me, had to undo) and features mostly excellent and challenging puzzles. no demo this time, but since it's very similar to the first, checking the demo for that on the game's itch page should help you decide. and again, for such a low price it's a no-brainer if you like sticking things together.

20 hrs to 100% and about 3 moments across 3 days where I almost gave up on
39C
.Even if the game was $20, it'd be worth it.
Disclaimer: I playtested the game but have no financial conflict of interest Push Blox 2 is an excellent puzzle game that builds on the idea of merging blocks of like color together. This mechanic will be familiar if you have played Jelly no Puzzle (another top puzzle game), but it's used a bit differently here as you control a white circle that moves around the level to push blocks and clear paths. There are some additional mechanics introduced later but it would be more fun to discover them on your own. The most impressive part of the game is the puzzles, which toward the middle and end of the game get very interesting and challenging. As a comparison, the difficulty by the end is similar to or perhaps higher than Stephen's Sausage Roll, but it starts out much more gentle and inviting. If you have played Push Blox 1, this game is an improvement in all respects, and if you have not played the original I recommend starting with this one. There is a minor real-time element that does not result in any dexterity challenge or timing difficulties. The advantage is that you don't need to wait for objects to fall completely before you can move again - you can keep going with your solution as things are happening around you. The style is minimalist and clear, and the soundtrack complements the puzzle-solving experience quite well. Push Blox 2 will be one of my favorite puzzle games released in 2020 (and I play a lot of puzzle games)!
One of the best hidden gems. If you enjoy logic puzzles, this one is brilliant. Some real barn burners in the second half of the game.
If you like challenging puzzle games, you should give this game a try. There are just a handful of simple mechanics, and the puzzles in the game are all pretty unique in their solution, i.e. no "filler" content. I also like that the level select screen usually has a few active levels to choose from, so if you get stuck on a puzzle (and you probably will) you can try another one and come back to it later.
Quite good! I haven't completed enough yet but already can say that this game is very nice! I'm glad that Steam recommended me it!
Very simple, yet really exciting. You really have to push your brain to solve the blox. Haha, get it?
Really fun but challenging puzzle game. The mechanics felt really simple and intuitive but I was impressed at how much variety the puzzles had. There are plenty of intricate constructions that felt really satisfying to find. The music was also relaxing and I think it fit the game well, sometimes I would just have the game on in the background so I can listen to the music. You will not be disappointed :)
It's a very simple-looking puzzle game, but it's engaging, surprisingly deep, creative, and the difficulty increases gradually. You really need to bend your mind with some levels, because the "obvious" solution often doesn't work so easily and a smart idea that combines the many mechanics in a new way might be needed.
Usually I finish a game before reviewing, but since I expect to be poking away at the harder puzzles in Push Blox 2 for quite a while I thought I'd drop a quick recommendation now. Puzzle design is the star of this show, with simple elements combined in elegant and original ways. The solving process feels like exploring some unknown piece of clockwork, working out the function of each detail of the design. It really tickles the part of the brain that likes fitting shapes. Because the core mechanic has you linking blocks of the same color, there's a similar dynamic to Snakebird where you first work out the shape you need for some aspect of a puzzle, then work out how you could build that shape with the constraints at hand. As the description mentions, this is a challenging game. Puzzles revolve around a small number of large realizations, not constant chipping away in the manner of a Hexcells or Picross. So really the only puzzle fan I wouldn't recommend Push Blox 2 to is an impatient one.
