good story good combat, a little janky in some levels. Terrible antialiasing be prepared to fuss with graphics settings.
yes, been a fan since it dropped on mobile
it takes too long to even get to setting where you can change things like the voices to English and controller support they make you do that whole tutorial on mouse and keyboard which i absolutely cannot do lol theres not many graphics settings like framerate changes etc unless im missing something, i wanted to try PGR on here as apposed to on the phone a few years back, i was expecting like a console level change since its here on pc, but no. I also didnt know how to fullscreen the game it was just like a elongated square that took up like 60% of the screen that didn't clip right in the view. Am i the only one that had a unnecessarily hard time getting it going? the unsmooth transition made me me lose interest quick, minor to alot, but enough for me.

Developed and published by KURO GAMES, Punishing: Gray Raven is a free-to-play action RPG that combines high-speed combat with a richly imagined post-apocalyptic science fiction setting. The story unfolds after humanity is nearly driven to extinction by the Punishing Virus, a technological plague that transformed machines into deadly enemies known as the Corrupted. Players assume the role of the Commandant, leading the elite Gray Raven squad of Constructs—advanced cybernetic warriors created to reclaim Earth. While the premise follows familiar themes of survival and resistance, the game distinguishes itself through emotionally driven storytelling, memorable characters, and a world that gradually reveals its history through cinematic missions and character interactions. The narrative balances large-scale conflict with personal moments, encouraging players to become invested in both the fate of humanity and the individuals fighting to restore it. The combat system is undoubtedly the game's defining feature. Battles are built around fluid movement, lightning-fast attacks, and a unique orb-based skill mechanic that rewards timing and strategic planning instead of repetitive button presses. Matching skill orbs to unleash enhanced abilities adds an extra layer of tactical depth, while perfectly timed dodges trigger opportunities for devastating counterattacks. Players can switch between multiple Constructs during combat, allowing them to create stylish combinations and adapt to different enemy types. Every playable character possesses distinct weapons, attack styles, and special abilities, giving each squad composition its own identity. This emphasis on skill-based gameplay keeps encounters exciting throughout the campaign and ensures that mastering mechanics is just as important as strengthening characters. Beyond the battlefield, Punishing: Gray Raven offers several systems that encourage long-term engagement. Character progression involves improving equipment, unlocking new abilities, and collecting additional Constructs to expand tactical options. The game also includes a dormitory feature where players can decorate living spaces and spend time with their squad members. Although this mode is considerably more relaxed than the intense combat sections, it helps strengthen the bond between players and the characters while providing a pleasant change of pace. These quieter activities complement the darker narrative by giving the world a greater sense of personality and reminding players that there is still hope despite the devastation surrounding them. Visually, the game delivers exceptional production quality. Character models are intricately designed, featuring futuristic armor and expressive animations that make every Construct feel unique. Environments range from ruined urban landscapes to advanced technological facilities, all reinforcing the bleak atmosphere of a civilization struggling to survive. Combat effects are colorful and energetic without becoming overwhelmingly chaotic, allowing players to appreciate the spectacular action while maintaining visibility during demanding encounters. The soundtrack further enhances the experience with energetic electronic tracks during battles and emotional orchestral pieces during story sequences, while high-quality voice acting contributes additional weight to important narrative moments. As a free-to-play title, the game naturally includes optional monetization through character acquisition and progression systems. However, its strongest appeal comes from the satisfying gameplay rather than spending money. Players willing to dedicate time to learning the combat mechanics, completing missions, and steadily improving their roster will find a substantial amount of content available without requiring immediate purchases. Frequent updates, new characters, additional story chapters, and challenging endgame activities provide ongoing reasons to return, making the experience feel like a constantly evolving live-service RPG instead of a static release. Punishing: Gray Raven successfully combines stylish action, engaging storytelling, and polished presentation into one of the most impressive free-to-play action RPGs available on PC. Its rewarding combat mechanics, atmospheric world-building, and diverse cast of Constructs create an experience that consistently feels exciting from beginning to end. While the live-service structure and gacha elements may not appeal to every player, they never overshadow the core gameplay, which remains the game's greatest achievement. Fans of fast-paced action games, anime-inspired science fiction, and challenging skill-based combat will find plenty to enjoy, making this a standout title within its genre. Rating: 7/10
good
this game is lowkey peak. i reccomend controller cuz it makes it so easier. the first time i played this game. i played it for 6 hours straight
great difficulty getting this game to login on steam deck. NO controller support. atrocious port to PC.
I was looking forward to tying this out, but there are no settings available before a forced tutorial and keys used for controls are afwul. It quickly becomes clear that this game just wasn't designed to be played without a touchscreen since the orbs can be in 7 or 8 possitions and as far as I can tell need to activeley be used and keep changing, To move the character i need WASD orbs are 1-8 but attack, dodge and specail ar J,K,L and camera is mouse click and drag or arrow keys. And I only have two hands. The game is probably alright, but thre's nothing that has been done to make it work. Even if plenty of people will manage to MAKE it work. Especially the ones who are heavily invested in PGR and what it has already given in it's mobile form. AFAIK Wuthering waves controls fine on pc and I have played it on PS where it was good to so at least I know that Kuro can make a different version of action combat work.
