I'm not a hunter but I'm loving this game so far! It's the best part of Oregon Trail (the hunting obviously) with the vibe of Stardew Valley. About an hour in and I've only done the rabbit hunt & horseshoe mini game so far. Both have been quick, fun, but still a challenge. Looking forward to exploring the rest. Also the music is perfect especially Mungo on the jug.
Don't let the (very charming) art style fool you, this game is a hardcore deer hunting simulator. Just like real life, I can feel my marriage and my sanity unravel as I devote WAY TOO MUCH time to trying to get even just a doe. 10/10 would totally make my wife a hunting widow again
Was thinking the other day that I wanted a 2D deer hunting game. Did some searching came across this. It's exactly what I was looking for! Has all of the aspects of a deer hunt in a quick, 2D format. Great for a quick 30 minute gaming session. Great replay-ability with the procedurally generated maps. Would recommend!
NO. The pace of the entire game is charming and arcade up until deer hunting, which is it's biggest draw, and while i appreciate the attempt at simulation, it feels way too random to be fun. Tree stands suck. Sometimes for unexplained reasons, you can't aim in all directions in one. Other times you can. Worse, more often than not, tree stand spots are not in any way shape or form helpful in their spawn routine. You can't stand just any old large tree, they have to be specific spawns. They're either too sparse or are right on top of the bedding so when you place it, deer get spooked. Overwhelmingly, there's no way to approach a situation successfully. There are many times even when you set up correctly with the wind, get a stand placed well and wait, the doe pass but get spooked from your scent in the wind before the buck approaches. Further, i hate the buck growth system of if you kill a buck, better bucks come, but if you get RNG'd to death, you lose buck score. It's more punishing than pleasing. I would much rather see random buck size/quality. I hate all the zoom levels - i am fighting trying to see the environment and I never have enough information visually. Mouse and Keyboard controls are cancer and can't be rebound. Have fun shooting with ALT instead of the mouse button... like WTF? Having put thousands of hours in hunting & fishing sims in my time, I want to enjoy it, there's charm here, but it's just not enjoyable.
It is a fun game but was expecting a larger play area to hunt in without a time limit. This game might look simple but it really is a hunting game/simulator.
worth the money, needs a bit of bug spray but good job otherwise. I fully expect to get an addiction some time soon.
fun game and all but it kinda gets boring after a while cause there is so much you can do and free hunt there isn't really many animals you see and when you go on a deer hunt half the times you can't see the deer.
Pretty good arcade hunting sim. Honestly has more depth than you would expect at face value! The fact that it's got the arcade style means each hunt is not very long, and the different animals each offer unique mini-game style hunts. The deer hunting is the most in-depth, and it would be nice to see more hunts like this introduced. The pixel art is charming, and I was pleasantly surprised at having a rarity when it comes to the bucks you're trying to harvest if you continue to hunt successfully. It would be nice to see more hunts in the same vein as the deer hunting, or perhaps even a little pixelated taxidermy trophy system for the various animals. These are just my personal wishes (that are by no means realistically imagined) for a genre of game I didn't realize I'd enjoy so much in the pixel art style!
fun
After playing for a little over two hours I can say that this game is great for a quick and long hunting sessions. As some people have said also in reviews it it has the feeling of The Oregon Trail and some older hand held hunting games. After playing the informative tutorials the game is easy to get started with but yet still have some challenges while hunting. I was very surprised with how good the deer ai is. The creator of this game is always thinking of something new to ad so be on the look out for little updates here and there! 👍🏼
