PROZE: Prologue is a free demo VR puzzle adventure game for a paid game called Proze: Enlightenment. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index and Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. You have to solve a puzzle to get out of the tutorial mode when you start. Try this, if you like puzzles games.
Ce jeu VR est très bien réalisé. J'ai pu faire le prologue en m'aidant de vidéos car je ne comprenais pas grand chose. Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas de version en français sinon j'aurais certainement acheté la suite.

PROZE: Prologue is a free, VR-focused narrative adventure developed and published by SignSine that serves as the introductory chapter to the larger PROZE universe. Built specifically for virtual reality, it immerses players in a Cold War–era mystery centered around a secret Soviet research facility and an experiment known as PR-03e. Rather than functioning as a standalone, fully resolved story, the prologue is designed as an atmospheric gateway, introducing key characters, themes, and narrative threads that extend into the full PROZE experience. Despite its limited scope, it manages to leave a lasting impression through its environmental storytelling and immersive presentation. Set primarily in 1976, the game places players in the role of Anatoly, an engineer working at a classified military installation. The facility is connected to mysterious research projects inspired by real-world Cold War tensions, and as you progress, it becomes clear that something has gone wrong. The narrative unfolds gradually through exploration, environmental clues, audio logs, and subtle interactions rather than overt exposition. The story does not rush to reveal its secrets; instead, it cultivates intrigue by layering hints and fragments of information, encouraging players to piece together events at their own pace. Gameplay revolves around exploration and puzzle-solving rather than combat or high-intensity action. Players move through interior corridors, laboratories, and exterior environments, interacting with objects and solving logical challenges to unlock new areas. Puzzles are integrated naturally into the environment, often requiring observation and spatial reasoning. They rarely feel arbitrary, instead reinforcing the sense that you are navigating a real facility filled with machinery and experimental equipment. The absence of combat heightens the psychological tension, as the threat remains implied rather than directly confronted. Virtual reality is central to the experience. PROZE: Prologue takes advantage of VR mechanics to deepen immersion, allowing players to physically interact with their surroundings. Manipulating switches, opening doors, examining objects, and moving through confined spaces feels tangible in a way that traditional flat-screen games struggle to replicate. The spatial audio design further enhances this immersion, with distant echoes and ambient sounds contributing to a persistent feeling of unease. In VR, even simple environmental shifts can feel unsettling, amplifying the psychological tone of the narrative. Visually, the game uses Unreal Engine 4 to deliver detailed and atmospheric environments. The Cold War setting is brought to life through retro-futuristic machinery, analog equipment, and stark industrial architecture. Lighting plays a significant role in establishing mood, with dim corridors, flickering lights, and moody outdoor sequences reinforcing the tension. While the graphics are not cutting-edge by modern standards, they are effective in creating a believable and immersive environment, particularly within the constraints of VR performance requirements. As a prologue, the game’s runtime is relatively short. Most players can complete it within a couple of hours, depending on how thoroughly they explore. This brevity works both for and against it. On one hand, the concise structure ensures that the experience remains focused and atmospheric without overstaying its welcome. On the other, it leaves several narrative threads unresolved, which may feel abrupt to players expecting a complete arc. However, as an introduction to a larger story, it succeeds in generating curiosity and setting the tone for future chapters. Technically, PROZE: Prologue runs smoothly for most VR setups, though, as with many VR titles, performance can vary depending on hardware configuration. The interaction systems are intuitive, and motion controls are implemented thoughtfully to minimize discomfort. Being VR-exclusive does limit accessibility, but for those with compatible hardware, the immersive design is one of its greatest strengths. Overall, PROZE: Prologue stands as a strong atmospheric introduction to a Cold War–themed psychological adventure. It prioritizes mood, environmental storytelling, and immersive VR interaction over action-heavy gameplay. While its limited runtime and unresolved narrative may leave some players wanting more, its careful world-building and immersive design make it a compelling experience in its own right. For VR players interested in mystery-driven exploration and subtle psychological tension, it offers a memorable and well-crafted entry point into the broader PROZE narrative. Rating: 7/10
