Protagon VR

Great little VR take on a futuristic golf type of game, by getting the ball through a number of obstacles to the target on or below par. Basic but different from a lot of these bundled VR games. Not sure on how much I'd play it but good for those who like a VR ball challenge games with a puzzle aspect.

[h1]Not bad, but certainly not that good.[/h1] This is basically a 4-hole "minigolf" game done in zero gravity. It seems like this belongs in a bundle (how I got it I believe), or on the very cheap. You move your ball down the hallways/pathways of the course by grabbing your ball and pulling back on it. The farther you pull it back, you'll see the farther the ball's projected trajectory will go. When the ball stops, you automatically glide to the ball again. Repeat until you make it through the final hoop / goal. The course is laid out something like hallways and you bounce the ball off walls to go around corners as you'd expect. Subsequent levels introduce bouncing panels that push your ball further along, intermittent panels that block and stop your ball from passing, and passageways with 'wind' that affect your ball. Overall, I guess it's OK. Nothing that struck me that "[i]hey, this is neat[/i]" or "[i]wow, well done![/i]". Just a simpe, "[i]Ok. I saw it and [b]completed all 4 levels in 20 mins or so[/b]. Ok.[/i]" If you want to play a VR minigolf game, go check out "[b]Moonshot Galaxy[/b]". Now [i]that[/i] is cool. This? This is forgettable and a 6 out of 10.

Works just fine with Oculus Rift. Got it on sale. If you like golf or pool you might like this.

The description is very accurate - it's 3D, zero-G minigolf! Easy to learn controls, runs very stable, the graphics are stylistic yet basic, and there are some fun courses with variety of obstacles to interact with. I'm not sure how many levels there are because I lose my patience while playing mini golf style games and rage quit :-) Fun game! Nov 2022 Update: I played this again on happenstance. Review above still holds; it's well done, but mini golf just grinds my gears, especially the level where you need to arc it into the side tunnel with the wind pushing against you. GRAH! Anyway, I pushed through and beat it - ten levels - and that might be the last time I play it. Take your thumbs up and be gone!

This game is okay. It's VR minigolf using a pinball plunger. Grab the ball, pull the plunger backwards and release it to send the ball bouncing through the course towards the exit hole. I had fun beating it. *Looks at playtime* Oooooh, now I see why I can't recommend it. Truth be told, it is a fun experience. It looks great but the levels tend to feel small and even at full power your ball barely moves. While it functions fine, it does lack a satisfying oomph to every shot that tends to make minigolf video games exciting. It feels like a really great tech demo but definitely not worth the price. You'd need one heck of a deep dive sale for me to thumbs up the game.
