About
In this dystopian nightmare, soldiers track the Anomaly—a shape-shifting enigma that clones itself, warps reality, and mimics human speech. Communicate with your squad, queue up for online missions, but remember: it’s not just a hunt; it’s a frantic race against time.
Soldiers:
Soldiers are hunters. They were forged with steel for one purpose: to hunt down anomalies. They hold powerful guns inside their bodies that have insane force to penetrate anything that comes their way alone. The extra weight makes them slower and unable to jump, but the powerful gunshots can easily be heard, and can smash through objects like butter. They cannot be harmed, and only the time limit before the Anomaly escapes can stop them. They can use voice chat to speak to each other if they are close by.
Anomaly:
Their origins are unknown. Motives unknown. Anomalies can change shape, preferring smaller objects compared to bigger. It can mimic the human voice. It can create false objects, that, when shot, will create a giant puff of smoke, allowing for easier movement. It has the ability to spit, which will temporarily blind a solder for a couple of seconds when hit. It's spit shot can also impact objects, and the bigger the Anomaly's form, the bigger the force it has. But the smaller it is, the faster it becomes. It is easy to learn the basics, but it has a lot of depth to master.
Online play:
Missions are started with a simple press of a couple of buttons, use the "Join Server" browser to discover missions to join or set them up yourself with "Host Game." Choose what map and how many players you want for a max number to join. Will you infiltrate a haunted graveyard or explore a derelict spaceship? 10 missions to choose from, each with their own quirks to set them apart. Play by yourself when joining a session or have your friends join your session from its session ID. Online play is designed to not show certain info, allowing no advantage to any player outside with pure gameplay skills and manipulation.
Physics:
Every map has most objects being able to be manipulated by soldiers and the anomaly, making it either easier or harder to win depending on who plays the smartest with what is provided. Change the shape of a map to make each one more dynamic than the last.

Reviews
I honestly know nothing about this game because it has no players, but it's cheap as dirt and looks pretty neat. I honestly bought this cause I wanted to be the first review, but then i realized some asian guy with 15k games or some ♥♥♥♥ already beat me to it, so i guess I'm second now. I have comments on, so if any of yall stumble on this just hit up the comments and I'll hop in a lobby. I'm just curious what the gameplay even is.

Prophecrawl is an indie multiplayer game created by developer Michael Richard Lannon that experiments with asymmetric gameplay, stealth mechanics, and psychological tension in a science-fiction setting. The game centers on a unique premise where a team of heavily armed hunters must track down a mysterious shape-shifting entity hiding somewhere within the environment. Rather than relying on conventional shooter mechanics or linear objectives, the experience is built around deception, observation, and environmental awareness. Each match becomes a tense game of deduction where players must constantly question what they are seeing and hearing while racing against time to achieve their objective. The narrative backdrop presents a grim futuristic world where strange anomalies threaten the stability of reality. These anomalies are not ordinary creatures but unpredictable entities capable of altering their form and blending seamlessly into the world around them. To combat this threat, specialized soldiers have been engineered with powerful weapon systems integrated directly into their bodies. Their mission is simple: locate and eliminate the anomaly before it escapes containment. However, what appears to be a straightforward hunt quickly becomes complicated once players realize how easily the creature can disguise itself among everyday objects scattered across the environment. Gameplay is structured around asymmetrical roles, with players choosing to become either the hunters or the anomaly. The soldiers represent the offensive side of the conflict. They are equipped with destructive weaponry capable of tearing apart parts of the environment in search of the hidden creature. Their strength lies in their firepower and ability to clear areas quickly, but these advantages come with limitations. Because of their heavy equipment, soldiers move more slowly and cannot jump, forcing them to approach the environment methodically. This restriction adds an element of vulnerability, as it becomes possible for the anomaly to evade detection simply by maneuvering cleverly through the map. The anomaly provides a completely different gameplay experience. Instead of fighting directly, the creature survives by blending into its surroundings and avoiding detection. It can transform into various objects found within the map, allowing it to hide among furniture, environmental props, and other items that appear perfectly ordinary. This ability creates a constant sense of uncertainty for the hunters, who must inspect objects carefully and determine whether something appears out of place. The anomaly can also change its size depending on the form it takes, which influences both mobility and impact when interacting with the environment. One of the most intriguing aspects of the anomaly’s abilities is its capacity to imitate human voices. By mimicking speech, the creature can create confusion among the hunters, making them question whether they are hearing a teammate or something attempting to deceive them. This mechanic introduces a psychological element that goes beyond simple stealth gameplay. Players must rely not only on visual observation but also on sound cues and communication to determine whether the anomaly is nearby. The result is a multiplayer experience where paranoia and uncertainty play a significant role in shaping each match. Communication between players is central to the gameplay loop. Hunters can coordinate their search through proximity voice chat, sharing observations and warning teammates about suspicious objects or movements. Effective teamwork can dramatically increase the chances of locating the anomaly before time runs out. At the same time, the anomaly must listen carefully to these conversations and adjust its strategy accordingly, often hiding just out of sight while the hunters debate their next move. This dynamic creates a fascinating cat-and-mouse relationship where both sides are constantly reacting to the actions of the other. The environments in Prophecrawl are designed to support this tension by providing numerous hiding places and interactive elements. Maps feature locations such as eerie graveyards, abandoned facilities, and other unsettling environments where objects are scattered throughout the landscape. Many of these items can be moved, destroyed, or manipulated during gameplay. This means that the battlefield is not static; hunters may destroy potential hiding spots while searching for the anomaly, while the creature might exploit environmental clutter to remain unnoticed. Destructibility plays an important role in shaping how matches unfold. When soldiers begin firing their powerful weapons, objects throughout the environment can be shattered or displaced, altering the layout of the map. This can expose hiding places or create new pathways that change how players move through the area. The anomaly must adapt quickly when its cover is destroyed, often scrambling to find a new form or hiding location before the hunters close in. Visually, the game adopts a stylized science-fiction aesthetic that emphasizes atmosphere over technical realism. The environments are often dimly lit and filled with strange architectural structures that reinforce the unsettling tone of the setting. Objects scattered throughout the maps serve both decorative and gameplay purposes, creating a world where nearly everything might conceal the anomaly. While the graphical fidelity is modest compared to larger productions, the visual design succeeds in creating a mysterious and tense environment. The audio design further strengthens this atmosphere. Gunfire from the soldiers echoes loudly through the environment, creating moments of intensity as hunters search for their target. At the same time, subtle ambient sounds and environmental noises contribute to the eerie mood of the maps. The anomaly’s voice mimicry mechanic adds an additional layer of sound-based deception that can cause players to hesitate before trusting what they hear. Matches are structured around a time limit that forces both sides to act quickly. Hunters must locate the anomaly before the timer expires, while the creature’s goal is simply to survive long enough to escape. This ticking clock ensures that matches remain tense from beginning to end. As the timer runs down, hunters may become more aggressive in their search, destroying objects and narrowing down possible hiding places, while the anomaly must become increasingly cautious to avoid detection. One of the game’s strengths lies in how each match can unfold differently depending on the players involved. Skilled hunters who communicate effectively can create coordinated search patterns that make it difficult for the anomaly to remain hidden. Conversely, a clever anomaly can exploit moments of confusion and slip away repeatedly while the hunters argue about which objects seem suspicious. This unpredictability ensures that matches rarely feel identical. Overall, Prophecrawl offers a tense and unusual multiplayer experience built around deception and deduction. The asymmetric roles, destructible environments, and voice mimicry mechanics combine to create moments of suspense that few other games attempt. While its scope remains relatively modest, the core concept is imaginative and capable of producing memorable matches when players fully engage with its mechanics. For those interested in experimental multiplayer designs and psychological cat-and-mouse gameplay, Prophecrawl provides a unique and intriguing challenge. Rating: 6/10
