Wokeslop implies the existence of Wokegem and I think we may have just found it. Brilliantly designed word-spelling roguelike that's absurdly clever and cleverly absurd. I never thought I'd say that my unironic Game of the Year is a game called Pronoun Palace, yet here we are.

I really don't know what to make of this game. Mechanically and gameplay wise, it's an entirely satisfactory scrabble meets roguelike game. Spell words, deal damage and protect yourself depending on the tiles you use, utilise powerups to change letters or make your titles stronger. I might eventually grind my way to 100% completion on the back of that. Achievements unlock new powerup options, so achievement hunting becomes worthwhile, which I always like. The vibes of the game are [i]really[/i] not my thing though. It feels like it's sending strong, yet oddly mixed, political messages, with a HUGE preoccupation with sex, with vaguely sexist undertones (although given the name I don't know what I expected there). I can't tell if it's trying to be funny, quirky, memey or some mix of the three. It seems strongly American, so presumably it makes more sense to them; I think it just has references that are going over my head. Honestly only playing this because a friend gave it to me, and I don't think I'd otherwise pick it. It's a well made game, and good enough to recommend, but I am not the target audience for it. If you're a US based bibliophillic sex maniac, it's probably right up your alley.
