Personally, I always love scrolling through the backrooms of Steam's near-limitless library late at night, oblivious to the hellish nightmare I might evoke next. Searching in fearful anticipation, every now and then, I unearth a more bite-sized, lower-budget indie survival horror experience that ends up delivering visceral chills and appealing to my darker side. As soon as I embarked into the weird world of Steam indie survival horror game Project X, something felt immediately amiss, in a visual, physical sense of the surrounding world. Small Claustrophobic spaces, and squashed ceilings gave way to seemingly endless concrete columns, creating a strange liminal juxtaposition that felt oddly jarring. On top of that, the bizarrely disproportioned man barely able to squeeze onto his seat, eyeing my every move, certainty didn't help alleviate my initial psychological distress! Gameplay-wise, Project X is fairly minimalist in its approach, whereby, you'll be routinely riffling through typical environmental objects such as drawers and cupboards, collecting keys and uncovering creepy contextual items like notes and diary exerts that help shed further light on the enveloping world. (All while avoiding horrific abominations with a primal thirst for your blood, of course!) Speaking of the devil, you'll require acquisition of a torchlight to traverse the strangely labyrinthian subway system and all its darkly-lit corners and repeating passageways, lurking inside which exist a number of nightmarish creature encounters guaranteed to curdle your crimson at least once. So aside from some small performance issues, I'd definitely recommend giving this hidden gem of a Steam indie survival horror game a fearsome bite."
