I had a really good time playing ! (and I ain't done with it yet haha) Using PS1 graphics was a daring and yet very good choice, which ends up being refreshing to see something new instead of the usual games. The ambiance, the music, the story, there is everything you need to enjoy your experience. Also, you might want to play it again and again in order to get all the different endings and understand what is really going on. It is seriously very cheap for such a gameplay, and I really enjoyed playing.
Don't bother buying this game unless you're at least moderately fluent in French. Despite this title being marked as full English for the interface and subtitles, most of the interface options remain in French, there are several interactions that are not translated, and none of the notes (which are the key to making any sort of sense out of the story at all) are translated. I understand that English isn't the only language on Earth, but don't mark your title as having full support unless it actually has full support. For what it's worth, Project BLARI seems to be a basic and boring simulated PS1 horror game with areas that are far too large and empty, no manual save system, no atmosphere, and bland gameplay. You'll be simply wandering around big environments while attempting to find the items that the game wants you to get to progress; you'll eventually stumble into these areas after aimlessly searching empty room after empty room. There are some NPCs that will talk to you, but you really can't make sense of what's going on with these conversations alone. I'm not going to officially rate this game since I didn't finish it, nor did I play much of it. But from what I did experience, and the footage I sped through on YouTube, I'd go as far to say that there are many other reviews here generously inflating this game's positive rating. Especially considering there are two reviews that simply say "yes", from suspicious-looking accounts. The enemies are one-hit killers and the game is riddled with bugs and glitches galore, which will only add annoyance to the already infuriatingly vague campaign. Proceed with caution. For a game coded by a single person, Project BLARI is a game that at first, seems to be a simple retro / horror game like any other, but I can tell you it isn't ! Pros : - The Enemies you encounter are easy to predict and counter if you know how to, a brand new player will have some trouble at first but after some playtime, you can basically counter all enemies easily. (this can be a Pro and a Con, depending on personal opinions) - The attention to realism is well made ! you can't just turn your camera and check behind you, your view is represented by Terence ! The LORE of the game only adds up on it, the small details can tell you a lot about the complex story this game has ! - Multiple available endings with some side quests to help obtain them ! I've personally got the "Coward" ending and the "Common Good Ending" no spoilers of course :) Cons : - A few visual bugs here and then, like some textures being invisible on certain parts. - One softlock bug when if you spam E to skip though dialogues, you can get softlocked and you'll be unable to move. Should be fixed soon so don't take my work for granted ! - the FR -> EN translation could use some more work, plus some parts are not translated at all, the dev is french after all, so it's understandable on my end, especially considering im also french anyway ! Final Verdict : a good 9/10 If you have some spare money and you want a cheap horror game to try out with some friends on a discord call or just for yourself, go for it ! your money will be well spent !
Curator page here--> DaRevieweD #191 <-- New review every Weekend

"BLAR-BLAR-BLARI-!!"
Here's The Thing: You’re Terence Lebrun, a journalist interested in doing an exposé on the Local Tax Administration and Regulation which has seen a lot of military personnel go in and out for some reason. Then your potential whistleblower whom you have been grooming finally agrees to be one. So, tell me this; why are YOU risking YOUR life by still going to their stronghold? Beats me~
[+] PROS;
:) IN. YER. FRIGGIN. BASE~ The gameplay is a bit of a trump card, for once your head is set on it being a linear world; it startles you with a missable quest (and therefore rewards), a survivor to tag along with you and even steps that pave way to different endings! My first round, I didn’t get my hands on a pistol or rather I couldn’t, so I had to rely on my cunning, stealth and cat-like agility. BUT the second one- oh mama, I was blasting away like a rocket and drawing needless attention from the masses… There’s more to it; the gameplay has its means of shaking up things and you, fuddling your sense of direction. It’s something I’m accustomed to in 1st-person horror games, but seldom in 3rd-person! You could find yourself prancing along a looping hallway or a chase ensues from out of the blue. It’s edgy, sure, though not without its faults. Fortunately, the more-than-charitable checkpoints didn’t put a damper on my mood. By the time I arrived at ending no. 1, two hours had passed me by. Replaying it again, another two or so hours should get away from you… That is, if you can stomach the issues to be mentioned later~ TIPS: 1) Just act like you belong and you’ll be left alone! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2852971951 :) TAX YOUR BREATH AWAY… WELL, IT CAN! Some titles nail the PS1 visuals, but not the stiff feeling of the movements. This one, however, wrestled with both and emerged the victor! That said, it’s the squirmy “help me, I’m powerless” animations that had me rowdy and my brain detached from my body for a while every time I see it unfolding before my peepers. It really says a lot when dying doesn’t bother you! The human puppet threats may not amount to much, but it’s their lifelessness and rigidity that have me wincing. Manifesting its inner “The Thing” hive mind for some of the creature designs. The environments are sterile and replicating, yet they sufficed in communicating that cold, wayward point across. The same goes for the soundtrack, which habitually lacks range, until a complete reversal of the present ambiance comes blaring in. Letting out hints of Outlast’s killer orchestra and an unnerving sci-fi vibe, the latter of which frankly it should’ve had more of~
[-] CONS;
:( A. DIC…TIONARY. MOVE. I can’t even begin to talk about the game’s plot, no really- it’s physically and scientifically impossible! A more heinous crime than some unnamed government secret scheme was the slyly misleading language “support”. This is the first title I’ve seen commit this offense, whereby it states that it supports English, yes sir, check that; when in fact, it’s just partial. You know what, to claim that 50% of it was translated is already a generous overestimation… In actuality, the English is an entity all its own where it pops up and disappears as it pleases. Since I know some French, I could hazard a couple of guesses but I couldn’t keep up. Therefore, this only spells out trouble and a pain to those who know diddly squat of the language. These “innocent” mistakes affects the storytelling, which in turn diminishes one’s comprehension and eliminates any chance of swaying interest, let alone attention span. The English that did make it out, however, was butchered in some areas and it’s akin to Joey saying he can speak French. It gets worse too… Like there not being subtitles for the voiced lines or how the graphic settings were left in French!? When you think it couldn’t get any more downhill; 80% of the documents are either scrawled with chemical equations and structures, written in French, or both. In short, not only did I not get what happened, I’m pretty sure I got dumber~ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2852975813 :( TO BEAR LE-BRUN OF IT… I genuinely thought the gameplay was solid, but then it became a dead horse! It just doesn’t seem to grasp words such as “moderation” or “subtlety”, regardless of language. What it knew by heart was “stale” and that’s what it ended up being with the out-the-box sequences I so lauded before… Stacking chases upon chases like they’re ratty clothes, and handing out stealth segments like they’re free money. Some of which defied all logic by the way, unless they were explained word for word; but I didn’t get it, different tongue and all. Furthermore, a number of crucial mechanics were either misappropriated or absent altogether. An example of the former is the flashlight, which you couldn’t aim with precision, and the beam flailing everywhere as you sprint was super helpful! As for the latter, it’d be the inventory system markedly missing and you’re left to your mental faculties to recall what items and notes you’ve picked up as well as figure out where to go next! Lastly, that ONE tres ridiculous escort mission; someone please give it an award for “most padded” ever to exist. Even though it was literally a straight path to the elevator, the NPC decides to circle the long way for the heck of it. At least make it so they’d have no choice but to resort to it? COME ON~ :( SHOULD’VE SEEN THE SCIENCE. There is a void in the atmosphere, when played in the wrong way, that encroaches into “unfinished game” territory. You’ve heard of bugs that are “features”, but how about non-bugs that resemble them? For instance, the camera lodging itself IN YOUR PERSON at the inopportune of times or deciding to freeze-frame erratically and unflatteringly depending on how you died!? Also, what is it with the darkness suddenly shrouding where you’re not facing (your back) when you rotate the camera and focus on your person? Additionally, the sound effects were all over the place. Hearing noises through walls and ceilings to the point of throwing you off which is cool at first, but then just becomes bothersome. And finally, spamming a key in order to sprint is complete bollocks and an RSI waiting to happen. How about a toggle option, s’il vous plait? All predominantly “nitpicky” matters and ones that should have been fairly easy to rectify, yet they were not and it’s been years. Instead, the project’s jammed in development hell, albeit one that’s completed, but there’s simply no interest to improve it~
BUGS:
x Killed while ANOTHER kill animation is ongoing! x Gun didn’t spawn for the entirety of one playthrough. Starting a “New Game” fixed it. x Randomly generated room got messed up. x Climbed up objects accidentally. x Phone can’t stop ringing.
NITPICKS:
~ French captions remain despite setting language to English. ~ Ready that Google Translate! Achievements are in French. ~ Nonstop pressing “E” on doors will have them swing open, close and skip frames. ~ Multiple saves for quicker ending runs. ~ Can’t use firearm during the limping section, gun in hand and all. ~ No brightness slider.
"WON’T BE A FRENCH-ISE ANYTIME SOON~"
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2852978194 Last Words? Prime case of survival horror ideas not translating into unblemished experiences and it rings true too literally. Deduct some fine animations; you’re left with an awful hangover & a BLARI project~
5 / 10

Shoutout to
Indie Gems,
for GEMME-ing a key! Follow them here right now for more well, y’know~
Bought this game because I watched someone playing it Youtube. It looked interesting, and was very cheap. But honestly, I can't recommend Project Blari in its current state. The idea of semi-open world Survival Horror and having choices/side-quests that can determine which ending you get and which NPCs survive is great. Sadly this game executes that, and all of its mechanics, in an awfully boring and lackluster way, when games from the PS1 era it tries to hommage handled those things much better. The few side quests given by NPCs are basically just "bring me X item from Y place" with practically nothing in the way that could challenge you to get said item. The multiple "different" endings are more or less all the same, essentially there are two endings, and the others are just practically insignificant variations of those two and a different text over black screen at the end. And good luck if you want to get all endings anyway, because what you have to do to get each of them is not intuitive at all, so you'll need a guide, and the couple of guides that exist are in French. And speaking about French, the game doesn't actually have full English translation despite what the store page says, files and certain other texts remain in French. The enemies are just: -Black tentacles stationed around specific walls/doors -Zombies that are stupidly easy to just walk past because they have almost zero detection range unless you're running. -An invincible enemy that you have to spam a key to run away if it spots you. So whether or not you get the only weapon in the game (a handgun) makes virtually no difference since it can only kill the zombies which are practically harmless unless you're playing dumb anyway. There are also basic QoL missing such as Y axis invert. Being an indie game doesn't justify bland gameplay that has almost nothing interesting to offer and gets boring extremely quick, not when there are amazing old school horror-themed games like Signalis, Tormented Souls, and Song of Horror out there. PS: This game is very short, but if you want to get all endings for the sake of getting 100% completion, I recommend manually doing save backups so you don't have to start from the beginning everytime (game uses auto saves). The save files are located inside AppData\Local\projet_BLARI\Saved\SaveGames\BLARI_1.1
Playing this game really took me back growing up in the 90's playing my ps1. It reminds me a bit of Silent hill, Resident evil but very basic. Although I loved the atmosphere i dont know if nostalgia is taking over or if this game is really as nice to play for everyone! Nevertheless i really enjoy it and you should give it a try! But there is a downside! They did not take the effort and translate the documents so non french speakers don't get the full story. But if you really want to you can use Google lens on your phone to translate it for you. 8/10
Nul nul nul nul WaxEstLa ! Nul !
o jogo É HORROROSO NÃO RECOMENDO COMPRAR TUDO BUGADO E NEM PARECE ESTAR FINALIZADO, UM LIXO COMPLETO
Decent little horror game. Only thing I dislike is that you have to spam space to run, that's annoying.
