About

Project Absentia is a retro FPS inspired by 2000s-2010s flash animations and sprite comics, with vertical, aerial, elemental combat as the main focus.
You play as Abby, an angel who has been captured by the Orkan Corporation, along with her girlfriend Aurora, and her best friend Orion. You break free of your captors, but your friends are still captive. Armed with only a Tommy Gun, your gliding abilities and your wits, you must jump and glide and move around to get the high ground against your enemies. They don't know who they're messing with, and no one messes with Abby.
Huge levels focused on emulating physical locations - lived-in mines, castles, apartments, entertainment districts, derelict ships and more.
A huge armory - tons of weapons lying around. Use the Hailer to freeze your enemies. Missile Launchers blow your enemies apart. Drain health with the man-eating plant known as Blitzcraig. Use the trusty double-barreled shotgun to shred your foes. Oh, and make 'em taste the rainbow with the Rainbowitzer. Just to name a few!
Interactive elements - vending machines, breakable glass, mini-golf, water coolers, mirrors, just to name a few! Feel free to play with the environment.
Fully voice acted cast - with a broad cast of characters
Accessibility options - subtitles, speech control, adjustable FOV, and so much more.

God I love sucking D***
edit: I finished e2. This was so fun. I'm so glad the dev finished this and that I just randomly played the demo. What a fun little title. Also I dig the art style. DO THIS INSTEAD OF GENERATING A BUNCH OF AI SLOP This game is lovely. It has the most bouncy joyful movement in a boom shoot, it doesn't feel a thing like generic GZDoom. The emphasis on weapon swaps and alt fire is quite engaging. Unabashedly LGBT content, which I ♥♥♥♥ with (Capital G Gamers will hate it, but they don't shower and won't be able to hack the difficulty so who cares what they think). Even though they're a schlocky reference fest, I love the one liners. Though I would bump the cooldown, they're a little too common with the default. Audio is great, visual designs can be striking and the combat is real good. The enemies don't just run at you like doom monsters, they have most of the same movement as you do and mix up their attacks. The weapons are quite Blood-like, with weapons being incredibly powerful but also capable of killing you if you mess up. Id-arsenal, this is not. Flak cannon is a personal favorite. Definitely try the demo if you're interested, it's essentially the first like 4 levels. My only complaint is that I wish it had achievements. Good show.
Rise of the Triad if it was actually good, and gay, and animated like a 2000’s flash cartoon. Doesn’t reach greatness, but still overall a very solid shooter worth checking out.
I can see how the artstyle could be off-putting to some, but this game is very underrated! I've seen many worse boomer shooters that get more attention, meanwhile this one is a 10/10 in gunplay and movement and gets pretty much ignored. It doesn't even feel like its on the Doom engine. The voicelines and artstyle make it very cute and light-hearted, even though there's still ludicrous gore
fun
the best boomer shooter ive ever played. if you love sucking girldonk, you will love PA
Pros: - an involved story (what more of these retro style FPSs need) including voice acting. - a more unique weapon mechanic where you take the explosive slot from RoTT and do that for energy weapons, shotguns, rocket launchers, and BFG allowing for more similar weapons without cluttering your current loadout. I do hope to see more weapons added to each slot in the future. Also like RoTT, you have a tommy gun with an unlimited ammo pool which is a good backup weapon but doesn't break the game. - all of the guns have secondaries which I feel is a must have in order to compete in the throwback FPS market. - I feel more inclined to catagorize this game as a movement shooter as it gives you wide open arenas and some of the best feeling movement due to your character being able to jump super high and glide. - Some decent boss fights Cons: - I actually can't really think of any off the top of my head. Good job! Other Notes: - The game has a certain charm to it. With no disrespect to the creators, the art in the game isn't the most detailed or impressive, but all of the sprites still standout and the character design is unique. It reminds me almost of early 2000s internet art you could find on new grounds. It helps it to standout against the sea of "just another low poly shooter" with its art style and use of color. - The levels aren't always the most standoutish, but they don't always need to be seeing as you are moving so fast through them. But with the limitations of the engine, they managed to make decent looking areas and some cool set pieces. - Phoenix is hot (now it is up to you to decide if I mean that literally or figuratively) - Gianni Matragranno spotted Summary: It's a pretty decent movement shooter with cool mechanics allowing it to stand out.
this game is awesome. not sure why I haven't heard more people talk about it really. the movement feels great(character has wings so you can sort of fly when you jump) , love the art style and level design. the protag has one liners that can be funny and doesn't get annoying. all the weapons are nice, they don't reinvent the wheel or anything just all pack a punch & have nice alt fires. the gore is great too. it's a nice contrast to the cartoony art style
