Estimated reading time: 3 minutes Pottery Crafts: Hand-Made Simulator is a fun and relaxing game of mixing-and-matching various pot shapes / colors and patterns in order to create unique pottery items. In order to design such an item, you would first select a shape from the presets and paint it with a color of your choice, then apply diverse patterns which can be moved or placed at specific positions, and also colored. There are two game modes available, but the mechanics are exactly the same, whether you play the "Creative" mode (free choice of combining shapes / patterns) or the "Campaign" mode which consists in a series of 25 levels, each of them requiring you to replicate between 1 and 7 randomly generated items, based on their images which are provided on the left side of the screen. While the "Creative" mode does not prove any challenge, it does require a bit of grinding if one wants to obtain the corresponding achievement of crafting 100 pots. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1388125608 On the other hand, in the "Campaign" mode it happens sometimes that the pot you need to reproduce contains overlapping patterns which are very hard to distinguish from each other. Sometimes the colors are a bit difficult to find because the shades are so similar, other times the order in which the patterns are applied on top of each other is not easily distinguishable. The position of the patterns counts a lot and the game is not very forgiving in that regard, so you would have to fit the patterns as close as you can to the right pixels. On the positive side though, there is always a feedback about what you did wrong - if you either picked a wrong color of if the patterns are not properly aligned (although there's no specific indication about which of the patters has an error). In addition to that, the pots that you need to replicate are randomly generated at the beginning of the level, which means that if there's something that you can't get past, restarting the level is always a solution. The graphics are enjoyable and the list of patterns / shapes / colors to choose from is rather extensive, but sadly, the "Campaign" mode does not offer a background story to link these individual levels. Playing this mode actually means completing level after level and unlocking new patterns in the process. There are no major bugs, but I did encounter situations in which the game did not count the patterns correctly or didn't know how to deal with the same pattern repeated multiple times, at different positions (both cases resulting in me having to restart the level in order to generate a new set of pots). https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1389774229 Given the repetitive nature of the game and its length (if one doesn't go for 100% achievements) which is around 2h for the "Campaign" mode, I'd say that the price is a bit too steep, also taking into consideration that the game still needs some problems fixed and a bit more content (story-wise). It's a relaxing and nice game, but I would not recommend picking it up full price. Crim's Humble Opinion Curator This is a neat little pottery crafting game, but with my current experiences I cannot recommend this title until some things get ironed out. I've ran into some bugs which prevents me from enjoying the game properly. There are two different modes to choose from. Creative mode lets you create pots as you wish and save them to a gallery. There is also a campaign mode. In campaign you play levels that follow a theme. (egyptian, chinese; so on so forth) Each theme is five levels each and there are five themes. Each level you beat you will unlock more patterns. In the level you need to match the shape of the pot, the color of the pot, and the correctly colored patterns. The colors are sometimes hard to distinguish and you have to get everything as far as pattern position pretty spot on. If you have the pot messed up in any way; when trying to say the pot is done, you will be told what is wrong. It somewhat bothers me that this correction is a little incomplete. It will say the "The color of the pot is not" "The number of patterns is not". I just want to see the word correct or right added at the end. When you put down a pattern there is no way to take it off. If you accidentally add extra patterns, you will have to restart the level. The amount of pots you have to do for the level vary from one to seven. The bugs I am experiencing in the campaign that are preventing me from enjoying the title properly have to deal with the patterns. It keeps requesting me to craft pots with patterns on it that the game has locked. I'm not exactly sure how this happened, but it makes it very hard to make any progression. I'm currently on level 6. Every time you restart or play a level it gives you different requirements. Although I've tried restarting the level several times; it keeps giving me patterns that are still locked and require a few more levels beaten to unlock.
Pros
+Fun & simple gameplay +Helpful & forgiving help on incorrect pots +Nice amount of patterns and colors to choose from
Mix?
~Colors are hard to distinguish ~"The color of the pot is not" "The color of the pattern is not"
Cons
-Can't take off extra patterns -I've personally experienced bugs with unlocks and progression If this game gets updated or I find ways around these bugs than i'll probably update this review. In it's current state though or at least in my experience; I can not recommend this title.
[Not Recommended, No longer available on the Steam Store] First off, I won this in a giveaway and I'm always happy and thankful to the hoster and to win games :P ; And I'm adding on to the downvote because this game is flawed. I usually dont rate games down, unless there is some critical bug / flaw in the gameplay that makes it unbearable. Nevertheless I do my best to 100% it (unless its broken) before rating it down. I will not rate games down solely because I cannot complete it but rather because they had some kind of critical bug / flaw. Initially, I didnt get why this game had a negative review and then I do. The first few stages is fine; but I was put in my place from stage 11 onwards. (there's 25 stages in total). This game is bugged. In the sense where when replicating the pottery, the sticker design can overlap and you wouldnt know which design they used and how many pattern used. And even if you get it to the exact replica, the game may still not allow you to pass, so its a mini trap. Unfortunately or rather fortunately, we can restart the level and hope that we will get an easy design. Nevertheless, It is frustrating having to start over because of 1 bad design. The colours on the examples do not match the finished colour reducing the game to trial and error making it no fun at all to play. Dev responded to feedback around 8 months ago, nothing since and nothing done Don't waste your money!
Actual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flash game, complete waste of time.
感觉有些弱智的游戏 就是匹配花瓶样式+颜色、花纹种类、颜色和位置 基本上就是一款浪费时间的游戏
This game is boring and extremely frustrating! There isn't really a story to the game, the moment you start the campagne you are thrown into your workshop to work on the pottery. I bought the game during the Summer Sale, because I enjoy silly little games like these every now and then, but this one was definitely a waste of money even at the reduced price! The game is very unforgiving, meaning you have to work pixel to pixel to get it right and you spent ten minutes just trying to figure out what the heck exactly is wrong with your work compared to the picture example even despite the game telling you what is wrong (either colors or placement)! I am just really glad that I didn't buy it at full price and I am going to try and get a refund, this is not a fun game to play...
