It is a nice, little game about building a greek city from the start up in antiquity.
It's not bad. I can best describe Polismos as one of those games you get sucked into for 2-3 hour sessions every some number of months. Polismos could be a real, unique gem if it gets developed further.
Game has amazing potential but needs workshop and lots of improvments if break free from mobile game like structure can be better poseiodon even dlcs can be sold for other parts of the med sea. Buy this when on discount.
This game reminds me a lot of Banished, but set in Greek antiquity. I've got about 17 hours in it and I believe I've experienced most of the game so far sans building all the earnable wonders from repeated playthroughs. I may come back to this and see how massive I can get a city, but much like Banished once you surpass the early game struggles, not much remains as a threat.
A solid, peaceful city-builder and management simulation set in ancient Greece. The base game involves you picking a city from a huge map and trying to accomplish their ambitions, which will allow you to build a wonder in any city you have; so I could just build every wonder in Sparta and make it rival ancient Rome if I want! Building every wonder "completes" the game. You can choose to play on a slower speed and it can be very zen - or you can speed it up and it becomes quite engaging defend from attacks while building your city. I played as Sparta one game and ending up with 4 tributaries and a gorgeous city, and it was relaxing and slow-paced when I wanted it to be, and exciting when trying to balance my allies opinion of me, form alliances, establish trade routes, and defend myself from attacks at the same time. So far I think the developer has done a fantastic job with 1.0 (1.1 now), I'm looking forward to further polishes and content updates.
I hoped this would be a nice, relaxing game similar to the likes of Banished, Kingdoms Reborn, etc. but it was way more frustrating than I anticipated. The pace of building and development is very slow, progress is slow, despite having enough workers and resources, because those fluctuate too much and it's hard to get into equilibrium. It gets either frustrating or boring very easily because of the wait time (even at highest game speed). There's not many interesting things to build either, if you can unlock those after waiting a loooong time. I don't like that everything costs authority points, it's kind of an overkill. I tried to enjoy it, but I gave up after hours of playing, didn't satisfy the itch. I want to relax while playing, not get frustrated.
big thumbs down.
A really nice and chill city builder, although i had a hard time trying to fullfill ambitions and balance resources, labor, placements, trades etc during my first 5-10 hours of gameplay, i did eventually figure it out. One more thing i've had a somewhat problem with at the start was understanding the time speed(x2/x3) and walk speed of the workers, it just didn't feel right or in sync with one another. A very big questionmark on why there isn't sandbox mode yet, it should be in the game. Not everyone intends to complete ambitions or balance resources, some just want to build. Polismos is a game i enjoyed playing, i would love to see more ideas and expansions added.
Great. Recommended fully.
