Will Polaris be a live service title?
No, Polaris will offer a complete experience at launch. That said, if big AAA studios don't get everything right day one, our little team certainly won't, so we'll no doubt be making bug fixes and balancing changes after release, and we'll take that responsibility seriously. If people dig what we've made and would like more, we'll definitely consider it, so long as we won't bankrupt ourselves in the process. But I don't want to sell people something which is incomplete, half-finished, or where we're pitching as-yet-unrealised potential. We just want to make a cool game, and we hope it looks cool to you, too!
What operating systems will Polaris be compatible with?
At launch we'll support Windows PC only, with the possibility of Steam Deck support at a later point.
Will this be an Early Access title?
No, Polaris will launch in full when released.
What's the inspiration behind making Polaris?
It's Jonathan the creative director writing this (hi there!). I can't speak for everyone on the team, so I'll answer just for me... I've kind of always wanted to work on a game like this. I grew up loving the games of Bullfrog and Psygnosis, in particular Syndicate, Wipeout, G-Police, and Colony Wars. So experiences involving "teams of high tech soldiers, using high tech vehicles, causing chaos in an original science fiction world" have always been embedded deep in my frontal lobe. Over the years I've fallen in love with games like Halo, Earth Defence Force, Red Faction, Just Cause, Crimson Skies, and Ace Combat. Polaris is a melting pot of all these inspirations (and more!) combined with the raw talent and creativity of the awesome team I get to work with everyday. Also they turned off the Warhawk servers so this is the only way I get to fulfil that particular gameplay fantasy.

So far I've had a lot of fun while playing this game with a full squad of 4 members. For it's actual state I'll recommend it, though of course will be looking for some improvements gameplay wise, first comes to my mind is being able to drive aircrafts with other team members, as for what I've experienced it's only possible to use it by only 1 person. Also more enemies and maps will be something that make the experience fresh every time you jump into a match. Take in consideration that I've only went through to Difficulty level 5 and there is actually 15 difficulty leves total, so it's very promising right now.
I was looking for a drop-in style PVE game with co-op multiplayer (along the lines of Void Crew without the resource management). Polaris is almost exactly that game. I'm enjoying Polaris in a single-player sessions, but I haven't tried co-op yet. The art style is fairly uncommon and the action/combat is pretty good. The aerial movement and controls are intuitive and fun, and the ground movement is good - just less exciting. The rocket boots remind me a lot of Jet Set Radio. The game loop is pretty basic and there's not a lot of variation, but it's a good mindless fun game. It's still a little rough around the edges, but I'm enjoying it and will likely get some friends to play too. Hopefully the devs will continue to improve it going forward.
Recommended to play with friends and enjoy a very fun game. Necessary create new missions and maps, currently this game has only 2 missions and 4 maps. So this can get repetitive quickly.
UPDATE: I am changing my review to negative. It seems the devs have abandoned this game. The discord has been crickets for months. This project started out promising, but I think they just bit off more than they could chew. I understand if the game underperformed and they had to cease development, but complete radio silence/no explanation is not acceptable. Before I begin, I will be doing a more in depth review in the near future, but I just wanted to get this out there to begin with. I also did receive a key from the dev, but I also bought a copy for myself and some friends as well. Overall I am going to recommend this game, if for no other reason than I believe in the devs and what they are doing. At least from the one dev I have spoken to, they are passionate and committed and this game has the makings of something great. This very well could be Helldiver's little indie cousin. That being said I won't lie, it is a little rough. It is fairly content light and what is there definitely needs more polish. That being said again... ITS ONLY $10!! The devs have done a very good job of being transparent about the scope of the project. It seems like they have plans for the future, depending on its success/sales. To put things shortly if you like the idea of an indie helldiver's, can deal with some lack of polish/balance, and want to support a passionate independent studio, I would highly recommend picking this up as there is fun to be had!
