#742
(ツ)_/¯Pogo-Gogo

I think this is a really good free to play "rage" game, like Jump King, Getting Over It, Only Up etc. However it's much more forgiving depending on how you play it - you can enable a feature that let's you start where you initially messed up, or spawn at a checkpoint, you can also opt to have neither of these features if you're a masochist. There were some technical difficulties however, there was one point where I reached a checkpoint and my whole game became unplayable (couldn't even select the file I was on), and another instance where my progress didn't save. (I think most games save even if you alt+f4 out of them, i THINK this one you have to actually pause and quit the game to keep your progress.) I really enjoyed the movement in this game, which is what led me to beating it - you get to go from bouncing on buildings to random assets near the end where the difficulty ramps up like crazy, but it's doable. There's also really exciting moments when you fall off - because of your momentum carried through the pogo stick, you have the ability to bounce all the way back up to where you were (or even further) and make unintentional progress. It's sick. I would add, for post game I tried getting the 100 diamonds, just listening to music and hopping around - however I found it wasn't worth it because whenever you reload the game all the crystals respawn and it's hard to tell which ones you have/haven't got - so I gave up on that goal entirely. Anyways, I'd recommend trying it because it's free, doesn't have enough attention, is pretty fun/funny, and a decent challenge if you choose to complete the whole game ggs
"Pogo-Gogo" is a low key asset flip, a bunch of other people's assets assembled badly to make a basic game, typically this kind of thing is done by amateur developers without sufficient budget, talent and/or staff to do the job of game development professionally. It's then quickly rushed into Steam Direct. And, unsurprisingly, this never results in a product with any quality, interest, or value for gamers. In "Pogo-Gogo", the developer took some basic low poly cityscape asset pack and made a 3D "pogo stick" platformer out of it. The objective, to climb skyscrapers using a pogo stick. Today, Commander Keen is still the only game that made pogo-sticks fun, and this does not make that very niche genre any better. The low poly, poor quality assets are rounded out by little to know polish, janky controls and handling, and a general, pervasive lack of professional quality. So, the game might look better than you'd expect from an amateur project, but this is because it's partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Very little in this game is truly the creation of the "developer", it's just a bunch of rearranged assets. While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "Pogo-Gogo". The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. Insultingly, the developer insists that you should play this with a console peasant children's toy gamepad instead of KB+M. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're designing games for. It's the responsibility of the developer to ensure the game runs well on the platform they're selling it on, with the primary peripherals that PC gamers use. On pricing, this is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
This game would be GREAT if it stopped at the top of the highest skyscraper. It's legitimately very good to bounce across the buildings, and try to get the purple gems and the like. But after you reach the top, you get asset vomit getting over it style nonsense. And it takes a turn for the worse. It's a shame, because if it didn't outlive its welcome, it would have been an easy recommend.
beautiful meaning behind this heartbreaking story
goofy but its fun 7/10
Very unique fun 3D pogostick adventure Genuinely awesome experience, super frustrating but rewarding. This should blow up on Twitch for how good and fun and silly and difficult it is. I recommend you try it out. It has checkpoints for the people that suck, like me :3 Love, pogo-boy22 :3
