“Poems & Codes” is another interesting ciphers puzzle game, a sister game to “Prose & Codes” from the same developer, bringing even more encrypted texts in simple substitution ciphers to solve. As the title implies, this time it will be works of poetry from various authors, grouped into themes like love, death, history, nature and so on. Game principle is also exactly the same, you can easily type and replace characters to decrypt the texts; I found the poems to be slightly easier as there is a degree of predictability to the texts structure, but some of them are using archaic language, so you’ll still need good knowledge of English to play this game efficiently. Again, if there are some pieces that you especially like and you’d want to read more, you can use embedded link to Project Gutenberg website where you can download full collections in ebook format to read at your leisure; and again, if you buy this game, part of the money goes to support the said Project Gutenberg to make classics of literature accessible to wide public. Recommended to buy in a bundle with “Prose & Codes” for double the fun and contribution to a good cause.
legit really fun, good little puzzle game. i've played 40 hours and yet still feel like i need more poems to solve. genuinely give this one a shot.
This game is a sequel to the previous one by these publishers, Prose and Codes, and everything that I said in my review of Prose and Codes also applies to this game - It's a relaxing puzzler of substitution ciphers, good for playing before bedtime, with selectable difficulty levels. However, there are two major differences between the two games. Firstly, you get to read the entire poem after solving each "set" of ciphers, regardless of whether you were given the entire poem to solve or just selected parts of it. Secondly, you can read a brief biography of each poet. Both these features have really enhanced my understanding and enjoyment of all the poems in the game. Prose and Codes was amazing. Poems and Codes is even better!
Not too hard but not too easy either
Those who love reason and rhyme, Will find much pleasure in this game, Should only one be worth their time They might enjoy it all the same.
It's just a really great code solving game. It's sister game Prose and codes is great as well.
Interesting concept of game. Love to solve riddles and ciphers. 10/10
The only devs who make games like this where you get to read 1800s poems. We need more poetry games. 🩵
Fun ciphers! gorgeous, well organized, I prefer this one to prose & codes aesthethically. although the tracker is much easier to lose
Such a lovely game! Amazing selection of poems, and the interface is clean and easy to use.
