Plebby Quest: The Crusades ist für mich eines dieser Spiele, die auf den ersten Blick fast etwas albern wirken, aber spielerisch und atmosphärisch deutlich mehr draufhaben, als man erstmal erwartet. Gerade diese Mischung aus leicht schrägem Stil, mittelalterlichem Setting und solider Strategie macht für mich einen großen Teil des Reizes aus. Was mir besonders gefällt, ist, dass das Spiel sich nicht einfach nur über sein eigenes Setting lustig macht, sondern trotzdem genug Substanz mitbringt. Hinter der lockeren Präsentation steckt ein durchaus forderndes Strategiespiel, in dem Truppenaufbau, Positionierung, Versorgung und kluges Vorgehen wirklich zählen. Es ist also nicht nur charmant, sondern auch spielerisch ernst genug, um länger interessant zu bleiben. Dazu kommt, dass das Spiel eine angenehme eigene Identität hat. Viele Strategiespiele versuchen entweder bierernst historisch zu sein oder komplett ins Alberne abzudriften. Plebby Quest bewegt sich irgendwo dazwischen, und genau das funktioniert erstaunlich gut. Es hat Humor, ohne belanglos zu wirken, und genug taktische Tiefe, ohne sich unnötig zu verkrampfen. Auch das Kampfsystem hat mich positiv überrascht, weil man eben nicht einfach nur Masse nach vorne schiebt und hofft, dass es schon reichen wird. Gute Entscheidungen, kluge Aufstellung und das richtige Timing machen einen spürbaren Unterschied. Dadurch fühlen sich Siege auch wirklich verdient an. Für mich ist Plebby Quest: The Crusades ein angenehm eigenständiges Strategiespiel mit Charme, Witz und genug spielerischer Tiefe, um mehr zu sein als nur eine kuriose Idee. Wer mittelalterliche Strategie mag und Lust auf etwas mit mehr Persönlichkeit hat, sollte dem Spiel definitiv eine Chance geben.
