A lot of my reviews for games on here are basically jokes, but this one is more serious oddly enough. I've already been a huge PVZ fan, though I haven't really stayed up to date with anything like PVZ3 or anything, however the original GOTY, mobile and DS ports of this game I hold quite close to me. I ended up 100%'ing all the achievements for both GOTY and Replanted back to back, and while its not exactly day-and-night the differences, its at least a little cloudy (day) for Replanted. Replanted is a worse version of an already near perfect game. It does everything GOTY edition does but both better and worse at the same time. I could name several strange bugs I ran into or just the general feeling of "This feels like a fan-remake" multiple times while playing Replanted. Some of the bugs, such as Dolphin Rider's sometimes just jumping over Tall-Nut, their main counter, or Squash just having very odd targeting, seem so strange compared to GOTY where they never had any issue at all mechanically. Replanted shouldn't have came from EA, it shouldn't have have the bugs it does, it shouldn't just not have the Disco feature for growing the Wisdom Tree to 500 feet, and it absolutely did not need one life cranked up difficult extra mode. But alas, it does. Despite all the negatives here, I can't bring myself to dislike this game. In fact at its core, its still Plants Vs Zombies, which is one of the best games, well, ever. I know a lot of reviews on her in general talk about the idea of a mixed option for reviews, but I've really never felt the need for that until I played this game. Plants Vs Zombies means so much to me as a game, as a media, I've grown alongside it in a way, and seeing an official remake be served like this, even after patches, while it isn't super disappointing to me personally, I still love the game, it just makes me yearn for something better. Which PVZ deserves after all this time. I know its not that deep, but no game has made me think so much about how much it's meant to me my entire life, even if it wasn't entirely mixed at all. Buy it if you want the achievement grind, that's always pretty fun. (Hi mister, I see ya <3 Split Pea is the best plant)
